I feel this version would've potentially been a more cerebral, methodical experience with an eeriness more directly reflecting the original "A Serious House On A Serious Earth" rather than a more straight-forward action-adventurer with lots of horror parts like the original.
I've heard that this game originally was supposed to be much darker and horror like some walls were supposed to be covered in blood like in Dead Space or Outlast, but because of the T rating they cut it out. But I see there's many more darker things in original version. HAPPY 15TH ANNIVERSARY ASYLUM, thank you for changing my life 🤩
I like the more stylized looks except for Batman. The final Arkham version is one of the best Batman suits we have ever got. The final version feels very DCAU inspired I hope one day we get dirtier horror inspired Batman.
I know people have already said this, but yeah, I remember this game supposed to be almost horror like. I always thought I’d be cool if we could get a game where you are a doctor or Arkham guard trying to survive a breakout like this
would be cool, but i don't think it'll be as well received. people are still rambling about spider-man's mary jane stealth segments. i can't imagine how would it be if it's for the whole game even with improvements. maybe if the game is an original IP it would work better
I do wonder if Arkham Asylum would've still been successful if they had stuck with this version. Ultimately however, I am glad with the version we got.
26:00 we got a little bit of that in Arkham Knight when you scanned for Simon stagg finger prints. Kinda cool but i see why they didn't follow with it... would've been a bit annoying lol
Great video. Full of information and a lot of images that I never seen before like Alpha Joker and beta Batman amimations. Nice. Thanks for the credits and for tagging me..
25:55 I believe this mechanic was sort of implemented in Arkham Knight. Not sure which part but i know for a fact that its when you need Stagg's handprint and the one explained in the video is exactly what you do to get it as his handprint is left on certain places around the lab.
Im glad they went the direction they did with the combat and controls, but I do feel robbed at the fact that the horror elements were removed, and the customizability was watered down. Im really intrigued at the opening scene at the church, and wonder why it was removed completely. The 2007 build in general gives me Twisted Metal Black vibes, and wish it had kept those vibes. But I still love the Arkham Series
I think the horror elements were sort of removed/downgraded for a T rating. still it would've been pretty cool to see an R rated cut back in the day similar to the different versions of the Xmen Origins Wolverine game.
I would love to see a fan made project trying to recreate this original version of the game, sort of like the fan made elder scrolls remake mods that are in development right now
Was uploading this video on Arkham Asylum’s 15th anniversary intentional or a coincidence? I imagine a lot of time and work is put into these quality videos. Love to see it.
It's the opposite for me. Arkham Asylum's (and City's) suit is one of my favorite modern renditions of the classic, "non-armored" black and grey. I'm not as partial to all black batsuits like here which seems a bit Nolan-inspired, or the armored suits of Origins & Knight, though I think they look cool. The only thing I would've preferred from here is the quilted cape.
This was so fun to work on.
Thanks for having me.
thank you for helping make his possible
The 🐐 himself
The multiple handprints idea was used in arkham knight, its really cool that they used canned ideas.
Seems like a lot of canned ideas were reused in later games.
it's the 15th year anniversary of Arkham asylum apparently.

Well you’re right about the blood part
The riddler cell that has green question marks on the walls were meant to be blood

You know some of these older designs of Batman could be skins in Arkham Knight through modding or Rocksteady themselves
IceMage already added the in development batsuit through mods, it’s on nexus mods
I know people have already said this, but yeah, I remember this game supposed to be almost horror like. I always thought I’d be cool if we could get a game where you are a doctor or Arkham guard trying to survive a breakout like this
That would be dope. Outlast style. Running from a stealth centered Man Bat

Make sense cause the graphic novel the game's based on is basically horror

You uploaded this on the 15th anniversary of Arkham Asylum? Awesome! All hero’s don’t wear capes.
15 Years later and Arkham Asylum is still the best throughout the Arkhamverse.
I'm hoping for a proper remake or at least a game that captures the same kind of vibe
I agree.

15 years later and Man is still Man, how much we’ve grown.
Yeah, I’m man
Idk why but when I look at some the concept art from this early version of the game kinda looks like a horror themed Alice in wonderland to me
The art certainly had a more fantastical, fairy tail like aesthetic.
@@WarpingFist kinda reminds me of American Mcgee’s Alice horror game but if he want to RockStedy instead
Probably cuz they heavily based the majority of the game on grant morrisons graphic novel arkham asylum.
.
Which in that novel it all happens in the span of one night and is also very alice in wonderland esque
Is there a lore reason why Arkham Asylum is 15?
👁👁 you tell me
Is alsume stupid?
Scarecrow hitting us with fear toxin making us realize we getting old
is it stupid?
The bombs payload is exposed, I can use the power wrench to trigger a controlled explosion
It genuinely amazes me how horrifying this game was going to be. Really makes you wonder.
Rocksteady understood how to make the batman mythos horrifc
