  • Curious about California's SB478, the "Junk Fee" bill? Watch our video to understand how this new law affects your restaurant.
Starting July 1st, all non-optional fees must be included in menu item prices, except for tips and gratuities, impacting restaurants already dealing with increased costs from wages, staff retention, and tech partners. Ongoing legislation might exclude restaurants, allowing fees if noted in the menu.
At TipHaus, we monitor these changes to help you save time and money. Our customers save 20 hours + of manual work each month, $1,000 + in wages and overpayments, and see up to a 30% increase in employee retention. Get in touch at sales@tiphaus.com.

Restaurants, bars, grocery stores are exempt from the new state law, and require proper signage. But adding a fee still falls under the Visa/MasterCard rules which has limitations.
No more than 3% and only on credit cards - no surcharge on debit or gift cards. Must register and wait 30 days. Proper signage required.
Dual Pricing and true cash discount may be preferable...
