It actually opens up a really interesting discussion and it's a very complex and unique dynamic in a song, which is usually about straightforward things like "I love you and you love me back" or "I don't like you so we're breaking up"

@drakenstarcross1347 well the original song is about a man talking about his old girlfriend, about how she cut him off completely and he thinks she didn't need to do that. But once it switches to the girlfriend's pov, we see that he was actually not a very good partner and that she might've been justified. Perhaps neither of them is in the right, really. It actually opens up a really interesting discussion and it's a very complex and unique dynamic in a song, which is usually about straightforward things like "I love you and you love me back" or "I don't like you so we're breaking up"
