I owe you all some form of update. You all brought me so much kindness. Its only fair I let you on what has been going on with me after lullaby. I got fired. Got a new job. found love. Bought a home. Married and got a beautifull daughter. She is 3 now. ( Time really flies.). I look back at this project with much love. I have tried to start new projects. But the time I have to invest has been very little. I still draw from time to time, to keep my skill up. Perhaps when I find more time I can animate again. The idea that Celestia gets her rainbow mane as a sort of magical scar from using the elements is my absolute favorite headcanon. Celestia being unable to escape the reminder of what she's done every time she looks in a mirror is so tragic and I absolutely love it.
I've always thought her mane was supposed to be reminiscent of the Aurora borealis. "The Northern Lights are actually the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth's atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun's atmosphere." but I think I like your headcannon wayyy more
I think it changed my brain chemistry a bit, seeing this when I was a tween, how the part of the song most truly embodying a lullaby was accompanied by a fight scene. Still my favorite part upon revisiting. Edit: better wording, more detail
What I love about this masterpiece is that it doesn’t show any sister as “evil”. Because when you think about it neither of them are evil, they’re just ponies who have made mistakes.

The idea that using the Elements of Harmony in this way amounted to such a shock of magical and emotional trauma that it tints her mane, in the same way that a serious event can give a person a grey streak, is such a hard hitting notion. I would imagine that generations later, the ponies of the day would probably compliment her on her beautiful pastel rainbow mane, without realizing that Celestia would have probably felt a twinge of guilt and regret and sadness that she would have to smile through, each time.

@@kimyragreen3549 neither. Eternal Day will literally burn everything and everyone. While Eternal Night will cause cold and basically everyone will be scared because of "monsters in/from the darkness". So, I think Eternal Night is better than Eternal Day.
Everyone is talking about how using the elements of harmony changed Celestias hair from pink to rainbow as some kind of "scar" but I havent seen anyone mention how transforming into Nightmare Moon changed Lunas hair from a regular deep blue to her current "galaxy"-like flowing hair as a sort of scar, too Honestly I love the two headcanons, they are so canon for me Amazing job
Also after transformation from Nightmare Moon to Princess Luna her mane was light blue and then it eventually became Blue galaxy mane (NM had dark blue, almost black galaxy mane)
I personally think that Luna’s hair reverted back to blue initially because she was greatly weakened by her time as Nightmare Moon and Twilight and Co using the Elements to revert her basically pushed back her magic for a short while before it went back to looking like the night sky.

@@liithivm Yeah they can't go too crazy on the story or the kiddos may think it's boring and for the most part they can't go too dark with the story ethier so they can avoid the wrath of angry parents lol. If the show had a more mature rating I could definitely see there being alot deeper lore and It would be very cool to see as a long term fan who enjoys in depth storytelling.
On the contrary, Avatar was a children’s show and was a masterwork of character development and worldbuilding. It’s just a matter of direction and the showmaker’s intent.

Luna's banishment is such a good story that it probably deserves its own, more mature audience oriented show/movie. I believe it has the content! Anyway, yeah, we're crying, but just IMAGINE dealing with the weight of your actions and the only justification you can come up with is: "it was me or her" which sounds like a cop out, and while all that is going on, you KNOW you won't see your beloved sister any time soon so you need to cope with that, And on top of all of those emotions, there's still the confusion surrounding the betrayal, "why would my own sister try to murder me?" and while all of that emotional storm is circling around you, you're then crushed by the realization that, in the end, this is all your doing. You failed to comprehend the real situation, and these are the consequences of your own ignorance and pride, and you must live with those consequences for a thousand years. Lauren Faust wrote a pretty gut wrenching tale into the beginning of her pony show. These animators and songwriters just really flesh it out 20 times better than MLP's official media ever could.

One of? Unless you count fanfictions, this is the best thing to come out of the fandom by a long shot. The Moon Rises and Children of The Night are amazing, but even they pale in comparison to this, from the story, to the instrumentals, to the lyrics, to the animation, to the storyboarding, to the emotion, etc., this song is just everything about fanworks in general done right, and done better than anything else. I'd honestly say this is the best fanwork I've ever seen from any fandom.
I am a grown man. I am 22 years old. I have seen this animation a dozen times. And I still cry watching it… This is forever going to be my personal canon of how it happened. The show didn’t do it justice sadly. Anyways gonna cry now

Celestia’s hair changing after she uses the elements is such a good detail. This animation, the singing, the music, everything about this is beautiful and wonderful to me. It helped me for years.
If you were to look at the scene carefully, you notice that celestia's horn doesn't glow when the star starts to glow. Meaning, she isn't using her power at all and it was the star itself. Trying to keep the harmony between the two, sun and moon.
I still love the way she uses the elements as a last ditch hope and the PAIN in her eyes as she see that her sister isn’t saved, but trapped in the moon. I love the show of absolutely despair in the loss of Luna, instead of the almost indifference in the show.
@@bambi5595 There’s a time limit on the spell in which the pony, Luna/Nightmare Moon in this case, would only be trapped on the moon for a thousand years - in the episode Luna comes back, it’s 1000 years later so she was able to leave (as Nightmare Moon) before she was turned back to Luna by the Mane Six and reunited with Celestia
I just noticed a detail so very sad after all these years!! At 5:00 it establishes that celestia has a tradition of tucking her sister in using her magic, and when we skip to the present with her outside the window we can see that she still continues to tuck her sister in by setting the moon!! Gosh the detail put into this is stunning

3:53 the look of sheer terror and sadness in Celestia’s eyes hits harder than anything I have ever seen… I used to watch this animation all the time when I was little and now that I’m older I understand and feel the pain so much more, it’s truly an amazing and at the same time heartbreaking animation 💔
Here's something I realized. When Celestia used her horn at 0:44, everyone was wondering why or maybe she's just using it to set the moon. But as you can see, the moon fully glows yellow (which means Tia is holding it) and stays like that for a while.. She did it to hug the moon, to hug Luna, like to say goodnight, and rose the sun to set the moon.. Such heartwarming..
Coming back to this I never realized how dark and depressing Celestia’s past was spending thousands of years alone because she messed up and never realized how her little sister felt, Seems like MLP is not always sunshine and rainbows.....

What I love about this is that it shows how much Celestia truly loved Luna. She asks for forgiveness for not doing anything earlier. She does not blame Luna for her jealousy, instead blames herself for not being there for Luna when she needed her.

This storyline is way better than the original, just saying Edit: I mean the fact that they fought and the fashion that nightmare was banished. I liked that it was way more dramatic, as an event like that should be. I also liked how celestia got her color and wavy hair from this event instead of just having it because of magic.
ive got to admit its nicer, also it would be more physiologically damaging due to whenever she looked at herself and saw the mane it would remind her of that day
When I watched this I was in tears with chills. I checked the comments to see if I was overreacting and I was clearly not. THe amount of thought an effort put in this animation/lulluby was clearly shown and beautifully thought through. I grew up to my little pony and I wished to view an origin and I got to understand and fill in the gaps while also being mesmerized by the suspension of the video. But I especially loved how you looked into Luna and Celestia's POVs and gave them a clearer story. The headcanons you created fill in the plot holes left when we were kids. You are brilliant
I never realized how good this was when I was younger but holy shit does this hit harder than the actual show cuz like,,,, I guess it's technically creative freedom because it's not canon and part of the actual show which is for kids. But having a reason for why Luna turned evil, which was due to the older's blindness from her own arrogance and ego. And now Celestia has to deal with the consequences and grief that come with her actions and its just- sooo good

I have seen new musicians coming into the scene, people looping back around to the old content, content creators being brought in reacting to the show, recently posted videos popping up in my suggestions with theories about the world and lore... It seems to me that Gen 4 is here to stay.

And the way you can feel Celestia’s love for Luna in each lyric from 2:50 , especially nearer the end of the song: she wants her words to transcend space and somehow reach the sister she misses so dearly

I can give you a short version, but I won't. :D MLP G1 was born in the 80s, and the animation series had classical villains, so it wasn't just for girls with everthing in pink. It was the 80s, a different world. People were going to be free. The soviet era was going to fall, the frustration of the Cold War was going to fade. And of course this decade was the end of the sexual revolution, where love was love and free, and of course that's the decade when the LGBT movement was born. So here comes the My Little Pony. It wasn't made strictly to little girls as I said. It went hand to hand with Transformers, G.I. Joe and so on, love was still love, so as a boy watching a show made for girls (but not strictly) wasn't a big problem. This was the decade when creators of the MLP:FIM was young or even kids. Well, the G1 ended and the 90s arrived with Cartoon Network with classical animations. The sexual revolution ended. The Back Street Boys, NSYNC and many other boy bands was born in this decade. Teenager girls wet their panties for them, and the magazines told the teenagers what does girls and boys do. The anime bring the masculine heroes and feminine heroines idealizing the genders. There was spiced characters too, that's true, but the gap was wider between boys and girls. And of course My Little Pony G2 was mostly for girls. At the end of the decade Cartoon Network started to air more... risky shows, like SpongeBob Squarepants, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and so as the artists who were kids in the 80s started to work. They wanted to tell stories, experiment with new technologies and tried to open the world. In the 90s there was huge stress on the youth. You had to be masculine or feminine to be successful or you were nothing. Those who couldn't or didn't want to join the others, were outcasted. Those guys started to shoot at Columbine in 1999. And then came september 11th, 2001. The 21th century started with tragedies, rock bands were the new boy bands, Cartoon Network aired dark and twisted shows, South Park became popular, and in the chaos was born the Powerpuff Girls, where little girls beaten the shit out of villains. One of the creators was Lauren Faust. In the 2000s people became hypersensitive due their experiences, which escalated in the 2010s because of the internet. On the other hand the net has spread throughout the world, sites like Deviantart was formed, the era of smartphones has started. People became less connected in personal, left their injured youth for themselves, but those guys found their way to express themselves through art. In 2010 My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic was aired. After the hostile years of the decades before, there was a show, full of love, with the promise of adventure, characters who weren't just crazy, but had their own motivities and sometimes in the deep a strong wish to find acceptance, care and love. Lauren Faust wanted to be more deep with the story, but Hasbro didn't want to take the risk, so the fandom created new stories and spread the word of the show. This is how I see. :)
I agree, this one has (in my opinion) a much better story because it really dives headfirst into the amount of trauma this would cause. Also, I love the detail of Celesia's mane changing because of the power of the elements.
@@crow-beast Its also the fact she has something to be insecure about (her mane) instead of being “miss perfect” like in the show. Now I just feel bad if somebody complaints her mane (in this version) because it’s her own trauma/guilt she holds.
All these years, and I never noticed that Celestia's main was still only pink during the battle and didn't turn rainbow until after she used the elements. That is incredibly sad to think about what looking in her reflection would be like for her.
Actually in cannon that's now how that went. It will show in drawing her with pink hair, but when Twilight sees the battle between Celestia and Nightmare Moon, her hair is multicolored the whole time. In the animation though it does give me the same thought.

This was a true masterpiece. Both the singer and animator took the watered down tale we get in the show's prologue and brings it to life, showing what the two sisters truly must have felt. You can see their outrage when they quarrel, and truly feel Celestia's sorrow and remorse as she reflected on what she had done. If there were a chef's kiss emoji I would post it here, and I almost never use emoji. (Yeah yeah inb4 ok boomer)

I love how well you portraited the story. It's not Luna who's bad, it's not Celestia, they both had their reasons, they made mistakes, they had their reasons. It shows just how much both of them suffered in the past, and it makes me so incredibly grateful that they're happy. Super well animated, I love it! This must have taken so long to do-
Very true, it goes to show that siblings may sometimes squabble with one another over silly or petty things but... like you said they had their reasons & made mistakes. But in the end siblings will always find it in themselves to forgive each other even if it may take sometime along with a bit of patience but the love & bond we sibling have for each other will always be there to remind us the importance of family & togetherness to overcome whatever struggles or obstacles that may come our way so we can face them together against all odds. Celestia & Luna may have made mistakes in the past but... their Love & Bond as sisters will help & guide them on their path to overcome struggles & obstacles they'll face.
Honestly years later, I remember this. Makes me tear up to this day just as it did when it came out. So much has changed in my life since then, good and bad, but MLP will always hold a place in my heart. Glad to see this still here after years. This animation will always hold a place in my heart.
I like to think that the reason Celestia used the Elements of Harmony was that although her power really was really just much stronger than her sister's, she didnt want to hurt her sister so she had to hold back. But since the Elements of Harmony are much gentler than her Solar powers, she used them instead, which is why we see her flash of realization when she crashed there.
I hate to burst your bubble but no that's not the reason why she used the Elements of Harmony. She used them because nightmare moon is stronger then her and since she was hurt, she had no choice.
That's a nice take on it! I'm sure you know the likely reason she used it though was because her powers were not strong enough and if you think about it does make sense. However I'm sure the only reason why Luna was stronger was because she became Nightmare Moon and has no restrictions on using her powers at their highest level because she was, well, bad. If Celestia was Daybreaker I'm sure she would have beat Nightmare Moon easily because we've seen it in the one episode/s where Starlight Glimmer switched their cutie marks so technically you're right. Celestia/Daybreaker is stronger than Luna/Nightmare Moon.

No matter how many times I listen to this song, the lyric "I love you, I miss you" always makes me breakdown and cry. I'm not sure why, but I think it's because I relate with Luna in this case.
i loved that line cuz i personally relate to celestia actually. i feel like it's portrayed very often in the media (like in shows, movies, etc.) where the younger sibling 'hates' the older sibling because they're overshadowed by them or they're too naggy, etc. but the younger siblings never realize exactly how much their older siblings treasure them. maybe it's because i myself am the oldest child and have a younger sister, but it kinda pains me to see celestia hated so much for being accused of making luna suffer, being a bad queen, etc. tho i understand, it still hurts when your love is kind of underestimated to the point that you're hated.
There’s a profound deepness to the lullaby. The anger that Luna feels because of not being understood is a testament to those of us as adults who exist in the world today. Especially those who grew up in homes where the family dynamic was barely existent. What’s even more challenging with this particular piece is that there are so many feelings and emotions. A loss of someone dear, a dynamic shift in melody, heart break, reprise, a moment of breathing, a moment of intense crying. A wanting to be with a sibling who no longer is with you due to the destruction of the self that comes with it and the emotional rot it brings too.
I am crying right now that something like my little pony is considered nostalgic. It fandom was truly a gift and the animation was really smooth and beautiful. People of the fandom are still alive and that what makes me proud
It is really sad that the show ended I watched ponies since 2015 I guess. (I live in Poland so I dunno when the premiere there was). I was out of the fandom in 2018-2021, I came back 13 May 2021 (Because Of this song that was so nostalgic to me) and I didn't know what happened to MLP. This is the first time I’ve watched this, and my *god*- I had to restrain my tears because I was in public. This hit so much harder than I thought it would. Not to mention the animation is phenomenal!

Well it is also more realistic since in MLP after they blast someone through a wall the villian waits for them to get steady but in this Luna wastes no time
Plot twist: The similar idea in writers' heads is actually like WrapOut's, but since Hasbro does not allow the writers to use the same ideas as fans', they change to the canon lore we get, seasons later. Even though the very first ep of the series is also the pilot, but Celestia in the book has a pink mane. So I think Lauren Faust did that to imply that when Celestia banished her own sister, she was young
I come back to this piece like every other year from when this video was first posted and I’m still in awe from the beautiful animation of the fight scene and how they both had short and solid colors mains turned multicolored and grew in length and the background is gorgeous and don’t even get me started on the amazing song it’s just amazing
Just would like to say, this has a good story behind. First off, Celestia’s mane changing when using the Elements of Harmony makes so much sense since she had pink hair as a kid. Then, her need to hold back since she didn’t want to hurt her sister even while fighting her. And finally, the ending when we see Luna’s bed and that it’s empty, representing perfectly what it looked like without her. Such a good animation

I love how somber this fight is. You’d typically expect heavy drums during a fight like this, exciting and powerful. But instead, we hear the piano and violin, reflective and sorrowful. This isn’t just a fight between two powerful alicorns. It’s a fight between sisters, one that Celestia has had to suffer the aftermath of for the last 1000 years, singing lullabies and apologies to the sister she accidentally banished. The ponies of Equestria do not know this Celestia. They do not know the sorrowful, regretful sister to the night. All they know is the shiny, benevolent ruler.
The fact that she knows that she could have stopped her sisters downfall, and her guilt because it of it. Regret, guilt, and pain are portrayed so beautifully in this song.

Celestia wasn’t mourning the fact that she would never be able to see her again. She knew that the curse would break in 1000 years (an event that is focused on in the first few episode of MLP Gen 4). She was mourning the fact that she had been arrogant and foolish enough to banish her baby sister in the first place, as well as the irrecoverable tear she’d created in their relationship even before Luna became Nightmare Moon. She misses her sister and wants her back.

this video always gives me chills ESPECIALLY when Luna yells at Celestia and then the fighting scene.. the way she tears up as she has no choice but to send Luna away for the safety of herself and her kingdom, the way Lunas silhouette is shown on the moon and Celestia just stares in a way that’s like “what have I done?” and screams out in pain. The line “forgive me for being so blind..” makes me so sad too… absolute favorite animation ever

I got fired. Got a new job. found love. Bought a home. Married and got a beautifull daughter. She is 3 now. ( Time really flies.).
I look back at this project with much love. I have tried to start new projects. But the time I have to invest has been very little. I still draw from time to time, to keep my skill up. Perhaps when I find more time I can animate again. But for now my time goes to family, friends and job. Thank you for understanding. I hope the last years have been kind.

The idea that Celestia gets her rainbow mane as a sort of magical scar from using the elements is my absolute favorite headcanon. Celestia being unable to escape the reminder of what she's done every time she looks in a mirror is so tragic and I absolutely love it.

The idea that using the Elements of Harmony in this way amounted to such a shock of magical and emotional trauma that it tints her mane, in the same way that a serious event can give a person a grey streak, is such a hard hitting notion. I would imagine that generations later, the ponies of the day would probably compliment her on her beautiful pastel rainbow mane, without realizing that Celestia would have probably felt a twinge of guilt and regret and sadness that she would have to smile through, each time.

If the show had a more mature rating I could definitely see there being alot deeper lore and It would be very cool to see as a long term fan who enjoys in depth storytelling.
On the contrary, Avatar was a children’s show and was a masterwork of character development and worldbuilding.

Luna's banishment is such a good story that it probably deserves its own, more mature audience oriented show/movie. I believe it has the content!
Anyway, yeah, we're crying, but just IMAGINE dealing with the weight of your actions and the only justification you can come up with is: "it was me or her" which sounds like a cop out, and while all that is going on, you KNOW you won't see your beloved sister any time soon so you need to cope with that, And on top of all of those emotions, there's still the confusion surrounding the betrayal, "why would my own sister try to murder me?" and while all of that emotional storm is circling around you, you're then crushed by the realization that, in the end, this is all your doing. You failed to comprehend the real situation, and these are the consequences of your own ignorance and pride, and you must live with those consequences for a thousand years.
Lauren Faust wrote a pretty gut wrenching tale into the beginning of her pony show. These animators and songwriters just really flesh it out 20 times better than MLP's official media ever could.

Celestia’s hair changing after she uses the elements is such a good detail. This animation, the singing, the music, everything about this is beautiful and wonderful to me. It helped me for years.
If you were to look at the scene carefully, you notice that celestia's horn doesn't glow when the star starts to glow. Meaning, she isn't using her power at all and it was the star itself. Trying to keep the harmony between the two, sun and moon.

@@bambi5595 There’s a time limit on the spell in which the pony, Luna/Nightmare Moon in this case, would only be trapped on the moon for a thousand years - in the episode Luna comes back, it’s 1000 years later so she was able to leave (as Nightmare Moon) before she was turned back to Luna by the Mane Six and reunited with Celestia

3:53 the look of sheer terror and sadness in Celestia’s eyes hits harder than anything I have ever seen… I used to watch this animation all the time when I was little and now that I’m older I understand and feel the pain so much more, it’s truly an amazing and at the same time heartbreaking animation 💔
Here's something I realized.
When Celestia used her horn at 0:44, everyone was wondering why or maybe she's just using it to set the moon. But as you can see, the moon fully glows yellow (which means Tia is holding it) and stays like that for a while.. She did it to hug the moon, to hug Luna, like to say goodnight, and rose the sun to set the moon..

When I watched this I was in tears with chills. I checked the comments to see if I was overreacting and I was clearly not. THe amount of thought an effort put in this animation/lulluby was clearly shown and beautifully thought through. I grew up to my little pony and I wished to view an origin and I got to understand and fill in the gaps while also being mesmerized by the suspension of the video. But I especially loved how you looked into Luna and Celestia's POVs and gave them a clearer story. The headcanons you created fill in the plot holes left when we were kids. You are brilliant

The detail of Celestia setting down the moon as a parallel to her tucking Luna to bed ever since her little sister was a baby always gets me… it’s such a clever bittersweet detail it breaks my heart, I wonder if Celestia sung lullabies to Luna back then too.
And the way you can feel Celestia’s love for Luna in each lyric from 2:50 , especially nearer the end of the song: she wants her words to transcend space and somehow reach the sister she misses so dearly

To understand why MLP:FIM inspired so many people, you have to understand it's background. I can give you a short version, but I won't. :D
MLP G1 was born in the 80s, and the animation series had classical villains, so it wasn't just for girls with everthing in pink.
It was the 80s, a different world. People were going to be free. The soviet era was going to fall, the frustration of the Cold War was going to fade. And of course this decade was the end of the sexual revolution, where love was love and free, and of course that's the decade when the LGBT movement was born.
So here comes the My Little Pony. It wasn't made strictly to little girls as I said. It went hand to hand with Transformers, G.I. Joe and so on, love was still love, so as a boy watching a show made for girls (but not strictly) wasn't a big problem. This was the decade when creators of the MLP:FIM was young or even kids.
Well, the G1 ended and the 90s arrived with Cartoon Network with classical animations. The sexual revolution ended. The Back Street Boys, NSYNC and many other boy bands was born in this decade. Teenager girls wet their panties for them, and the magazines told the teenagers what does girls and boys do. The anime bring the masculine heroes and feminine heroines idealizing the genders. There was spiced characters too, that's true, but the gap was wider between boys and girls. And of course My Little Pony G2 was mostly for girls.
At the end of the decade Cartoon Network started to air more... risky shows, like SpongeBob Squarepants, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and so as the artists who were kids in the 80s started to work. They wanted to tell stories, experiment with new technologies and tried to open the world.
In the 90s there was huge stress on the youth. You had to be masculine or feminine to be successful or you were nothing. Those who couldn't or didn't want to join the others, were outcasted. Those guys started to shoot at Columbine in 1999. And then came september 11th, 2001. The 21th century started with tragedies, rock bands were the new boy bands, Cartoon Network aired dark and twisted shows, South Park became popular, and in the chaos was born the Powerpuff Girls, where little girls beaten the shit out of villains. One of the creators was Lauren Faust. In the 2000s people became hypersensitive due their experiences, which escalated in the 2010s because of the internet.
On the other hand the net has spread throughout the world, sites like Deviantart was formed, the era of smartphones has started. People became less connected in personal, left their injured youth for themselves, but those guys found their way to express themselves through art.
In 2010 My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic was aired. After the hostile years of the decades before, there was a show, full of love, with the promise of adventure, characters who weren't just crazy, but had their own motivities and sometimes in the deep a strong wish to find acceptance, care and love. Lauren Faust wanted to be more deep with the story, but Hasbro didn't want to take the risk, so the fandom created new stories and spread the word of the show.

I agree, this one has (in my opinion) a much better story because it really dives headfirst into the amount of trauma this would cause. Also, I love the detail of Celesia's mane changing because of the power of the elements.

All these years, and I never noticed that Celestia's main was still only pink during the battle and didn't turn rainbow until after she used the elements.
That is incredibly sad to think about what looking in her reflection would be like for her.

Actually in cannon that's now how that went. It will show in drawing her with pink hair, but when Twilight sees the battle between Celestia and Nightmare Moon, her hair is multicolored the whole time.

This was a true masterpiece. Both the singer and animator took the watered down tale we get in the show's prologue and brings it to life, showing what the two sisters truly must have felt. You can see their outrage when they quarrel, and truly feel Celestia's sorrow and remorse as she reflected on what she had done. If there were a chef's kiss emoji I would post it here, and I almost never use emoji. (Yeah yeah inb4 ok boomer)

I love how well you portraited the story. It's not Luna who's bad, it's not Celestia, they both had their reasons, they made mistakes, they had their reasons. It shows just how much both of them suffered in the past, and it makes me so incredibly grateful that they're happy.

But in the end siblings will always find it in themselves to forgive each other even if it may take sometime along with a bit of patience but the love & bond we sibling have for each other will always be there to remind us the importance of family & togetherness to overcome whatever struggles or obstacles that may come our way so we can face them together against all odds.

Honestly years later, I remember this. Makes me tear up to this day just as it did when it came out. So much has changed in my life since then, good and bad, but MLP will always hold a place in my heart. Glad to see this still here after years. This animation will always hold a place in my heart.
I like to think that the reason Celestia used the Elements of Harmony was that although her power really was really just much stronger than her sister's, she didnt want to hurt her sister so she had to hold back. But since the Elements of Harmony are much gentler than her Solar powers, she used them instead, which is why we see her flash of realization when she crashed there.

That's a nice take on it! I'm sure you know the likely reason she used it though was because her powers were not strong enough and if you think about it does make sense. However I'm sure the only reason why Luna was stronger was because she became Nightmare Moon and has no restrictions on using her powers at their highest level because she was, well, bad. If Celestia was Daybreaker I'm sure she would have beat Nightmare Moon easily because we've seen it in the one episode/s where Starlight Glimmer switched their cutie marks so technically you're right. Celestia/Daybreaker is stronger than Luna/Nightmare Moon.

i loved that line cuz i personally relate to celestia actually. i feel like it's portrayed very often in the media (like in shows, movies, etc.) where the younger sibling 'hates' the older sibling because they're overshadowed by them or they're too naggy, etc. but the younger siblings never realize exactly how much their older siblings treasure them. maybe it's because i myself am the oldest child and have a younger sister, but it kinda pains me to see celestia hated so much for being accused of making luna suffer, being a bad queen, etc. tho i understand, it still hurts when your love is kind of underestimated to the point that you're hated.

There’s a profound deepness to the lullaby. The anger that Luna feels because of not being understood is a testament to those of us as adults who exist in the world today. Especially those who grew up in homes where the family dynamic was barely existent. What’s even more challenging with this particular piece is that there are so many feelings and emotions. A loss of someone dear, a dynamic shift in melody, heart break, reprise, a moment of breathing, a moment of intense crying. A wanting to be with a sibling who no longer is with you due to the destruction of the self that comes with it and the emotional rot it brings too.

I am crying right now that something like my little pony is considered nostalgic. It fandom was truly a gift and the animation was really smooth and beautiful. People of the fandom are still alive and that what makes me proud

I watched ponies since 2015 I guess. (I live in Poland so I dunno when the premiere there was). I was out of the fandom in 2018-2021, I came back 13 May 2021 (Because Of this song that was so nostalgic to me) and I didn't know what happened to MLP. Now I see that the show ended and it makes me upset that I wasn't there for almost 3 years.

Plot twist: The similar idea in writers' heads is actually like WrapOut's, but since Hasbro does not allow the writers to use the same ideas as fans', they change to the canon lore we get, seasons later.
Even though the very first ep of the series is also the pilot, but Celestia in the book has a pink mane. So I think Lauren Faust did that to imply that when Celestia banished her own sister, she was young

Just would like to say, this has a good story behind.
First off, Celestia’s mane changing when using the Elements of Harmony makes so much sense since she had pink hair as a kid. Then, her need to hold back since she didn’t want to hurt her sister even while fighting her. And finally, the ending when we see Luna’s bed and that it’s empty, representing perfectly what it looked like without her.

I love how somber this fight is. You’d typically expect heavy drums during a fight like this, exciting and powerful. But instead, we hear the piano and violin, reflective and sorrowful. This isn’t just a fight between two powerful alicorns. It’s a fight between sisters, one that Celestia has had to suffer the aftermath of for the last 1000 years, singing lullabies and apologies to the sister she accidentally banished. The ponies of Equestria do not know this Celestia. They do not know the sorrowful, regretful sister to the night. All they know is the shiny, benevolent ruler.
The fact that she knows that she could have stopped her sisters downfall, and her guilt because it of it. Regret, guilt, and pain are portrayed so beautifully in this song.
That's why she's seen that way in the show

Celestia wasn’t mourning the fact that she would never be able to see her again. She knew that the curse would break in 1000 years (an event that is focused on in the first few episode of MLP Gen 4). She was mourning the fact that she had been arrogant and foolish enough to banish her baby sister in the first place, as well as the irrecoverable tear she’d created in their relationship even before Luna became Nightmare Moon. She misses her sister and wants her back.

this video always gives me chills ESPECIALLY when Luna yells at Celestia and then the fighting scene.. the way she tears up as she has no choice but to send Luna away for the safety of herself and her kingdom, the way Lunas silhouette is shown on the moon and Celestia just stares in a way that’s like “what have I done?” and screams out in pain. The line “forgive me for being so blind..” makes me so sad too… absolute favorite animation ever
The truth is that I still wonder if in this animation, it was Celestia or the Element of Magic that acted of its own free will and banished Luna
