That connector is so tiny! I have never had to work on anything that micro. As always Alex makes this look way, way too easy! Thanks for sharing your techniques with us Alex!
I was confused first when you said "the connector is aligned" when it was actually precisely misaligned. I figured it out - the idea was to heat both pads and pins with hot air from above and then push the connector slightly left to set the pins on the liquid solder pads. Great work, Alex!

Solid work Alex!! I do these 78pin connectors from time to time, and I almost always have to use solder paste for it to connect to the pad.
Great job. We were not exposed to UV light this time.
It's kind of Alex to warn us every time he's about to expose us to UV light, so I can pause the video and put my sunglasses on.
The last time he exposed us to UV light I got skin cancer and died, but I survived the death because god has made my body better than factory
I started to watch video's with welding goggles just to protect my eyes . Alex always warns us, uv light through lcd monitors does not only harm your eyes, it can also cause brain injuries. :)) But i think Alex forgot to mention that Big boss has UV resistant eyes. :)) regards to u all alex :))

The singing... There is room for improvement but it wasn't devastating to the ear. Your. skills at soldering and resolving electrical faults are second to none.

Am i the only one who enjoyed the PCB pattern UNDER the connector more than the repair itself? I think the tracks under it cannot get any smaller on a PCB and the vias were invisible...

Notice that, he was always applying heat around the connector, to heat the board. He did not apply heat on top of the connector itself...
Set the hot air station to 400 deg C at low air flow. It is the distance of the nozzle that you will control and you will see the solder melt and component settle into place.
These connectors are quite resistent. I use 390°C to replace them, with the pads well prepped is a matter of seconds to solder everything. Pre-heat the board, drop the connector in and finish it up, whole job from disassembly to reassembly takes about 15 to 20 minutes if you are used to it.
He is using the hot air gun at 450 degrees usually.
At least that's what i remember for 3 years of view 🤭

you could even call that "nanoscopic" soldering, can barely even see them with a microscope.

This is a very dangerous procedure, because the processor and memory are located at the bottom and from heating the balls from under them can shoot and the phone will become unusable! We need a complete assembly and verification of the phone! And it is best to make a heat sink (by attaching a coin) on the protective screens during soldering!
