When you see a low cost device being fixed, it's not because the customer wants the device fixed, it's because data recovery is usually involved. Repair cost exceeds price of the device by many folds.
the enthusiastic "yes" is such a great feeling and something I always do when I fix something, hence the reason I decided to become an amplifier technician. as always, such entertaining videos! keep em coming! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
I was in the LA area about six months ago, and I saw your shop on my google maps when I was heading to a job. I didn't have time to pay a visit but man! Did I want to! Great repair videos! I became an essential part of my shop thanks to what I learned from this channel alone.
New to your channel and I have to say what you do is amazing. Clearly you have years of experience. Right now I'm at the point of saying that if you cannot repair an item it is unrepairable!
I just discovered your videos a couple weeks ago. Great stuff! I'm a complete amateur at this and love it. You have taught me so much already. Thank you for doing this. Subscribed.
It's taken me a long time to realize how hard it is to solder this small components. I took apart my ASUS laptop and took a good look at the components. My hands would shake to much to do this work.
I asked myself the same. Is it worth to put / solder back all the removed shields, or is it enough to patch it with some aluminium tape and kapton tape maybe?
I had a similar issue with a prior iPhone many years ago. I asked the repair shop how did they fix it just out of curiosity and he also told me some of the caps don’t need to be replaced. They just remove them when they’re causing the short. That phone worked just great for 2 years and still works till today I just don’t use it anymore.
I see some one use compress air on the component to freeze it and what ever de-freeze would be the short, idk how well that work or if it even reliable
Hello, As a subscriber, I have a question regarding phone repair. Being a beginner in this field, I'm looking for methods or tools that would help me disassemble an iPhone without the risk of misplacing screws during reassembly.
Wooow every video is like new scholl Thanke you for every beautiful video You are sou goood I learn so much with your video 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻🙏🙏🙏🙏 Bigg respect from CROATIA 😊
Any chance you could replace a battery and charging port on a 4th gen iPad? I have the knowledge and skill but my hands just are not as steady as they used to be.
I've check the forum and... i have one question, what was the "voice" and "post" means ? on it, it says 1 || 1 but when i see inside there's only 1 question with 0 reply. should there be a "reply" count title, that's says 0 on the front page/ site/ something ? 🤔 thanks n sorry before 😊
You should do a video explaining the basics of voltage injection, my soder station came with one built in but I have never used it out of fear I may do some harm.
When the thermal camera is showing small components at very close range, alignment with a normal camera would be off, and the visual overlay would be misleading. He also has a Flir camera.
i couldn't follow how you understood there's a Vcc short i mean where were your two probes.? one to the ground the other to any random capacitors? And how did you test the capacitor.. you said you kept yo multimeter in dia mode or something.. please explain.. i am trying to fix a induction stove pcb board for a week now.. consider me a beginner. please share some tutorials on how to debug pcb boards and its connected devices.. i love repairing things and use it forever. i like upgrading electronic items rather than just throwing it away and get new one.
Its Diode Mode, it servers 2 purposes, to check the voltage drop in any diode or semi conductor (mosfets, DrMos), and to check continuity between the probes, if the current can freely flow between. Caps must not be continuous, one side is on VCC (or any other voltage supply), and the other side is on ground, so tesing a cap in diode mode, they must not be continuous between VCC/Live/Hot and ground, and that's how Alex noticed the short
NF identifies Vcc power rail, then injects low voltage between ground and hot side of a Vcc cap to see if current flow excessive. If current flow excessive, then he search which part glowing bright during test with thermal imaging camera. Then he put meter in "diode mode" to test glowing part for short. If short is a component in PARALLEL with many other components, "diode mode" will identify a short, but not exact component; they will ALL test shorted. That is why thermal cam is HUGE time saver, it will show you which part is shorted out of many parallel components. When you remove glowing part from board, retest for short in "diode mode" and short should be gone. Then smile 😃.
as always a great video alex...by the contentment on your face it must be a great feeling to fix a device ... love watching your repairs .. i think if you ask stephen speilberg maybe you could make a movie ... tiltled into the 9th dimension .....haha ..
thank you man very nice video ans im so happy that you show where you put voltage (the caps) thk you and i see you in another video you say not i always we even god Allah as says we becouse is selffish i love you man im sure you believe in god god bless you
Just curious how much this fix costs, is it worth it to get an iPhone 6S fixed?
yes its depend on individual who likes what they have
When you see a low cost device being fixed, it's not because the customer wants the device fixed, it's because data recovery is usually involved. Repair cost exceeds price of the device by many folds.
I ask this question many times while watching these videos..
@@NorthridgeFix thank you, that makes sense. Great job, keep it up and Ramadan Kareem
Don’t Apple devices backup to the cloud?
I just love seeing how happy you are when you successfully fix something! Your happiness is so infectious I can’t help but feel it as well.
When you know you know!! I've seen lots of repairs on TH-cam, but this guy ......precision like a robot and knowledge like Wikipedia
😂😂😂😂 Hit the nail on the head
He's just the best, l wish others could be more precise
He needs that painting on to a sign to hang over his desk.
The joy on his face when the problem is found - that's what we all live for! Solving the puzzle!
I really appreciate that you not only narrate *what* you do, but you also explain *why* you do it. This makes your content of superior value.

I'm just gonna say you are a beast at micro work and figuring the problem makes them other guys look like they can't work on devices
New to your channel and I have to say what you do is amazing. Clearly you have years of experience. Right now I'm at the point of saying that if you cannot repair an item it is unrepairable!

I'm a French guy and I like to watch videos. good job
It's taken me a long time to realize how hard it is to solder this small components. I took apart my ASUS laptop and took a good look at the components. My hands would shake to much to do this work.
Alex, I was wondering about the section of shield that you had to remove in pieces. Did you add something back in its place? If so, what did you use?
I asked myself the same. Is it worth to put / solder back all the removed shields, or is it enough to patch it with some aluminium tape and kapton tape maybe?
The shields are for reduced interference, either caused or received. No need to put them back again, it's just for some regulation bullshit.
Alex why you dont use UNI-T thermal canera with macro lens, so you can see better component that is heating?
this guy makes it look easy, he is so good
That reminds me of a previous video bout "Easy fix". Good one if u haven't seen it. th-cam.com/video/Q6lussfS0yA/w-d-xo.html
Amazing as always, love watching you work.
Great job Alex, but I noticed you didn't replace the faulty cap. Was it replaced after video.
Sometimes you don't need to with passive components
I had a similar issue with a prior iPhone many years ago. I asked the repair shop how did they fix it just out of curiosity and he also told me some of the caps don’t need to be replaced. How do you know if a component is passive?
@@limebulls schematics
I really admire your skills and professionalism
Y not replacing cap
Great video.. so you didn’t replace that component and the phone works normally? I am curious about that
Great job. Amazing how valuable that thermal camera is.
Nice video.Did you replace the bad guy?
Great job 👏 How much did u charge to fix that 6s ? Was it worth it to fix it or just get a iPhone 7 Plus from eBay or from Facebook market place
Precision at its best 👍🏼
the sound you make after fixing the short gives me relief hahaha
The true help of thermal camera right there.
Nice work, a bit of a travel around the board plus a blooper or two spoken, great stuff. 😉
Wow that was very tricky...the strengh of the thermal cam helped you very much. Very good video, interesting. Nice fix. Thank you. Greets
Great tools + Workmanship
Sir Alex im inspired of what youre doing, ive always watch your videos, hoping that I can get a repair shop soon
greetings from the Philippines
gawa ka store mo sir hehhehe.. karamihan sa pinas board replacement agad.. sana may ganito sa atin na mga chip or smd pag rerepair
Good job, I need one of those thermal
Imaging units.
Jon Stewart does it again!!!!
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاتة رمضان مبارك كل عام وانت واهل بصحى وسلام بلغ تحيتي لخالك و الاولد بارك الله فيك
Yes with the right tools then you can repair so much instead of replacing or throwing away
I believe it's mostly his skill, the tools aren't that unusual.
It's another magic show. Thanks Alex.
Thats a bigboy fix right there. Props!
I was missing seeing you fix phones :) Good job
Just say hello to the bad guy LMAO i love this guy, So funny and intelligent
This guy is a heart surgeon but for electronics!!!
I see some one use compress air on the component to freeze it and what ever de-freeze would be the short, idk how well that work or if it even reliable
Question: did you resolder that cap? cough appendix
why didn't u use UNI-T Thermal Camera with the macro lens? the thermal image will be much sharper.
Really
My guess is that he sold them all and are out of stock
Do you not have to replace the capacitor?
He probably did that off-camera
Awesume. You almost 99% of devices just by monitoring via thermal cam and it is working most of the time
love the detication! would like to get in touch with you.
Amazing as always Alex.
Your video's are great , like always.
If i´ll done this um mastery imideatly hot dog with onion :) nice vid.
Congrats on 250K
5:28 where did that little capacitor come from? wasn't there in the previous shot
Wonderful job, keep doing the good work.
Love your repairs

You are simply the best !!!
Are you using them oscilloscopes?
Great rework techniques 😉wish I had half the Technical understanding. I can solder we’ll rework stuff with legs that BGA stuff scares me ☺️I admit

huwaaaaw! everyday iv learn a lot to you master! SUKRAN! 😊😊😊😊
Could you explain why dosen't the component need to be replaced? How do you know if you can just remove it or if it needs replaced?
I also wish to know why it doesn’t need to be replaced...
good job, but the capacitor is not replaced? and will the cut frames be replaced?
Just WOW. Repairing an iPhone looks like precise brain microsurgery. Just W O W

You should use a stand for thermal cam.
He had one but it broke so he's waiting for another that he ordered
What does the tristar chip do?

Came in for repair
Thanks again. Good methods, good repair and entertaining. :)
Can you make a vedieo about changing LGA 1200 cpu socket on mother board with hot air 🙂🙂🙂
Your thermal camera doesn't have visual image overlay over thermal image. Like flir and fluke ones.
When the thermal camera is showing small components at very close range, alignment with a normal camera would be off, and the visual overlay would be misleading. He also has a Flir camera.
