I've been T-rigging worms since the 70's. It's still my go to bait & I'm pretty good at it by now! These were some awesome tips & although you're prolly only half my age, you know your stuff!! You should have more subs than those guys that say "Duude" all the time but teach nothing! Good job!
I love the way you speak. I completely understad it because ENGLISH is my secod language and it"s not easy for me to undrstad when an english speaking person speaks in a normal way. Also I love the way you explain how to make the TEXAS RIG or any other rig.I appreciate how you take take care about the learner.
went bass fishing for the first time last week with a texas rig, i was making some of these very mistakes. time to learn and adjust. thanks for the advice.
Well said, Ty. This information is so much more helpful than what we normally see. I personally don't care to watch someone catch huge fish. I want to learn how to do it myself. Your information helps! thanks.
yep. Some channels are for actually learning and some are just for entertainment only. And to each, his or her own preference. I switch back and forth. lol because some of the “entertainment” only anglers know how to put on a good show, imo. Yes, and some are very very cringeworthy and not even worth watching at all, so I click away from those when I stumble upon them.
I never really peg my weight!!! The action you get without a pegged weight is amazing! And a lot of times when the right separates from a floating z-man elaztic bass smack it hard!!!
From trick worms to all of the curlytails, experiments with the different types is just as important as weight size I believe. Great information and thanks! Good fishing$$$
I am currently the executive chef on a world renowned sportsfishing boat in sd ca. I love lake fishing and pond fishing more than big game fishing. Thanks for the tips. I'm subscribed. And look forward to getting bit more in the ponds and lakes by my house. Hope your day is well. Much blessings sir.
Great content here!!! Sometimes breaking it down like you just did is so helpful. I’m a beginner and learned more from this video than other videos I have watched. Speaking simple language to help beginners understand what you are talking about helped so much. Thank You!!!
I have been experimenting with pinching the barb flat on my texas rigs and have had good results so far. Better hook penetration and less damage to the fish upon unhooking. Some will call me crazy I am sure.
Really I think those barbs are most useful for live bait. Works well to keep a nightcrawler stuck on the hook! Depends on the fish and angler though for sure.
L .H . I have fished alot of lakes in Canada where it is illegal to fish with barbed hooks, and have caught lots of walleyes and Tons of big pike and have never experienced any problems with keeping a hook in the fishes mouth. Obviously, the biggest secret, is keeping a tight line on the fish. And especially for bass, when they come out of water and shake their heads. Good fishing Lance !!
I have been using the Texas Rig as a go to lure for about 30 years and I find that most people make the mistake on the retrieving, conditions and the aggressiveness and water temperature all play a factor but I believe that is one of the biggest mistakes people make. It is a patience bait
I have had twice as many Fish landed without pegging my weight for sure and I think there is just less resistance on the plastic and maybe the Fish holds on longer and I get more time to feel the bite and set the Hook, I’m not sure but with me it’s absolutely no pegs. Great Video my Friend
In creeks and streams that are clear I have had fantastic results with a straight, thin, 4" worm without a weight. I use a spinning reel and light line and finesse fish it. Slow and easy. On lakes, semi-clear to clear, a bigger worm, same thing, and it can work. This technique works very well for me in the dog days of summer and there really is no deep cool spot for bass to hang out.
Goooood solid detailed info on the nuances of the Texas rig!!! Your channel is one of my favorites bcuz of your comprehensive explanations!!! I buy the 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm rattles off amazon (way cheeeper) than any big tackle store or online store and put them in my soft plastics in the scenarios you described. Totally agree with you on the no pegging, it does look much more natural. I’ve got a 30K gallon cement pond in my backyard and I’m ALWAYS throwing different baits and observing the action. I take the different soft plastics and put the different size weights on them and note the fall rate as you mentioned, I think it has a profound impact on the fish reacting to it. I feel it helps me catch more fish. 👍😃🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
I would wonder if you could make the same points but in a positive way instead of being negative. You put everything in the negative and I feel like I have heard nothing. However, if you make things positive then I can listen and learn. I have people in my life who criticize a lot, so it is not necessary to see it on TH-cam as well.
When fishing patchy/sparse submerged grass I have really good luck pegging the weight but putting the bobber stop about 4” away from the hook. It’ll go through the grass well and has a little more action from not pegging the weight right on the hook. It really shines with lizards, worms, speed craws, etc.
nice video with a lot of useful information.....Lunker City makes a Tex-pose hook, that I now feel is the best hook out there for rigging a plastic texas styled....as the hook point comes out of the bend on these hooks, it is perfectly straight, so much so, that in many situations you don't even have to pinch the plastic back into the hook point, because it lays so perfectly flat on the plastic.
One thing too is the tail curve. Always have the curl closest to the head of the bait align with the curve side of the hook. Creates better tai action.
What’s the rig called where you have like 2.5 ‘ of leader with a swivel and the weight above the swivel , I think it’s called a Carolina rig but could be wrong
I caught a 6 lb, 12 oz spotted bass on a Texas rigged pumpkin seed worm once. It's still my personal best as far as spotted bass go and I doubt that I'll ever top that. Doesn't mean that I'll stop trying though!
Definitely agree with hook placement on big worms. Most of the short strikes or tail grabs that I have gotten have been on shorter worms or from fish that could never fully engulf a big worm.
I ENJOYED this video!!!!! I feel pegging the weight is pretty much the same as a jig😮😮😮😮. I like my bait to be separate from the weight. I liked the way you broke it down, by demonstrating common mistakes. You REALLY TEACH HOW TO CATCH, as opposed to showing edited videos of all your catch/landing of 5++++ #/bass😊
Instead of a bead you can put a split ring in the eye of the hook. It will give the bait more movement and noise. When that tungsten weight hits the split ring it will mark some noise.
Love the content about the light wire hooks. I started using Skinny Bear hooks a couple years ago in EWG and RB and I absolutely LOVE them! One thing that I also do to either style hook is I will sharpen the hook and bend them up no more than 1/8th of an inch. Much love and hope you're safe, Brother!
I’m a beginner and your channel has been extremely helpful! Thanks for all the detailed explanations! Might be a dumb question but I wasn’t clear about what “pegging” the weight means in tip #5.
Pegging your weight is where you make it so your weight doesn’t move up your line. If your weight is not pegged then it can move freely up and down your line
Totally agree with the not pegging weight. Fish can pick up the plastic and carry off with it without the weight. Bass will tend to spit out more plastics when they feel that weight in their mouth. You will catch more fish with an unpegged weight 90% of the time
liked your content but when you suggest a hook style or size if you would link it below in the comment section from one of your sponsors it would be easier to get the right hook. i have watched this one twice and cant get the info well in these old ears:)
great video. I have a couple of questions. it is Sept. 28th. I am located in Westchester NY. Temperatures range from 45-65 and I mostly fish from the bank. How deep should I be going? and what weight jig head should I use? I realize I am not giving you much to go on but any help would be appreciated.
Been using a #3 light wire ewg hook ,1/8 tungston in1-5 ft to 3/8 tungston in 5-12ft and always throw a rattle on it for two ft or less visibility.only peg in the trees or branches.caught alot of fish over the years..ALOT
Great vid as always. I probably fish a texas rig more than anything else. Never thought of putting a bead on there.... gonna have to try it. Thanks for the great tips 👍👍
There's a LOT of "bla bla", but you know what? It is very interesting and it's one of the very few times where I didn't fast forward or stop watching before the end! So kudos to you, this was a very good video! And you have a new subscriber.
Awesome vid brotha! Last night fishing with a 10 inch Black Power worm caught a 3.2 on my first cast. Never fish big worms and thought I'd give it a try:)
What i do is peg the hook by sticking a toothpick trough the soft plastic and the eye of the hook... This Holds the Soft Plastic on the hook and prevents ball up that results in lost fish...
If you throwing way out there with heavier hook it will work fine but maybe your line was to small and or your rod was to light, heavier line and rod and can set a heavy wire like a light wire!
If you set the hook and "yank," and the tip is really sharp, what difference does the thickness of the hook make? I listened to you, twice, and still do not see at all why thinner hooks are better. The weight and thickness of a hook is so miniscule, it does not matter. I still enjoyed listening to the video. Wahi' Valleys
Everytime I watch your videos 2 things happen. 1 I become more educated on bass fishing and 2 I realize I need to buy even more tackle. I thought I shoule be using J hooks mostly.
Awesome video I appreciate learning from your videos everytime and that is what I enjoy the most as a very young angler and TH-camr so being able too learn something everytime is just amazing
Do you really think you shouldn't peg your bait? I feel like jigging along the bottom is best for most soft plastics other than swimbaits. If you dont peg your weight (Eventually, i like to do 6 inches) your bait ends up way out of the strike zone doesn't it?
Great video. I am guilty of most of what you said. I use a 3/0 ewg on 5 and 6 inch worms/lizards. What size should i use on 8 and 10 inch worms/lizards? Thanks
I've been T-rigging worms since the 70's. It's still my go to bait & I'm pretty good at it by now! These were some awesome tips & although you're prolly only half my age, you know your stuff!! You should have more subs than those guys that say "Duude" all the time but teach nothing! Good job!
Thanks man! I appreciate your comment. Keep on t rigging!!
I like to run t rig with a swimbait hook. No moving slip sinker, just a nice dance on the way to the bottom and good action off the pop.
Well said, Dan!

I legit can’t get enough of setting a hook on a bass. It’s super duper satisfying

Love how you understand everyone is different
Thanks Ty, I'm just a beginner from Holland and I'm gonna try your tips here far away from the USA.
Will give the bead thing a try. Very muddy pond where I live, not a whole lot biting, but catch a bunch when it rains.
I have had twice as many Fish landed without pegging my weight for sure and I think there is just less resistance on the plastic and maybe the Fish holds on longer and I get more time to feel the bite and set the Hook, I’m not sure but with me it’s absolutely no pegs. Great Video my Friend
great tips I lie to use a 3/16 or 1/8 on my texas rig and the only time I pig is if I pitching into heavy cover
Same
Carlie Brewer Slider Hooks have worked the best for me. Unbelievable success using them.
Charlie Brewer
I'd say number one thing to make sure you do with Texas rig is using a snell knot! Doing this will increase hook up ratio more than anything

I peg the tungsten weight with super glue about 1 inch away from hook using lizards 🦎
@@jamie.777 I never thought about using super glue on the stop and I always have some super glue ready to go for other fishing needs

Spot on with pegging the weight!! So many peeps do when they should not.
I caught a 6 lb, 12 oz spotted bass on a Texas rigged pumpkin seed worm once. It's still my personal best as far as spotted bass go and I doubt that I'll ever top that. Doesn't mean that I'll stop trying though!
Texas with pumpkin is guaranteed bites. Nice job!
great content, brother! i went to subscribe and laughed. I'm already subbed! keep them coming

Great info. Just ordered my hat.

When I saw the lures on your thumbnail pic....immediately wanted to purchase all of them!! Dangit, awesome fishing tackle! Take my money!
Thanks for the information because I have been rigging my worms wrong until I watched your video again thanks
We fish dams with a LOT of grass here in South Africa. I fish nearly all my baits texas rigged. Love your videos.
Very informative video. Keep them coming. Thanks for sharing!
So if you don't put a peg on the weight slides freely on the leader?
Tru-turn are the best hooks ever !!!
Instead of a bead you can put a split ring in the eye of the hook. It will give the bait more movement and noise. When that tungsten weight hits the split ring it will mark some noise.
I've learned a lot watching you're channel.Thanks

Thank you for the info on Texas rig, I really don’t fish it a lot.
Texas rig is my go to!
Your the man Tyler! My favorite Trig is the uv speed craw, by far!
Thanks Matt for all your Info you share I say give Hank a shot let's see what he has in in his tackle box
Good information...Learning lots!!! Thanks!!!
You're information always helps thanks
Great information keep them coming thanks
Superline offset hooks are great casting long distance 😊
I've seen, on you tube rigging down the hook and using a swivel to stop twisting in the line, to give the worm more action.
Good information! Been using your tips for years!
I was wondering this too! Thanks for the answer!
Great info. I have rarely pegged my weight. To me it creates less action. Thanks again for passing i
On your knowledge.
Thanks for watching!
Totally agree with the not pegging weight. Fish can pick up the plastic and carry off with it without the weight. Bass will tend to spit out more plastics when they feel that weight in their mouth. You will catch more fish with an unpegged weight 90% of the time
Great tip about hook wire size Tyler! I really never considered that before. I’m betting it makes a difference on Carolina rigs! All good stuff
The lake I fish on has lots of weeds but if I rig it correctly it will be good?
Great video and information 👍
It’s crazy how much of a difference a glass bead can make sometimes!
I assume your baby is ok. Praying for him and you and your family. Great video!
Great video learned a few things 👍
Loving your videos dude. Been binge watching them on the boat, when I am fishing off the boat after work each day.
Can you add a bobber stop above and below the weight on a texas rig to make it a modified carolina rig?
I’m defiantly a weight pegging guy, need to try floating it.
There are definitely times when you need to, but I am not lying when I say I really think you will get more bites when you don't peg it!
liked your content but when you suggest a hook style or size if you would link it below in the comment section from one of your sponsors it would be easier to get the right hook. i have watched this one twice and cant get the info well in these old ears:)

The only time I'll peg my weight is when I'm flipping to get it to punch through thick cover.
You no your stuff man!! I agree with everything said 💯
Awesome vid brotha! Last night fishing with a 10 inch Black Power worm caught a 3.2 on my first cast. Never fish big worms and thought I'd give it a try:)
Keep trying!! Slow retrieval on the bottom has always been great for me
1/4 oz is the lightest I can effectively pitch with . 5/16 is preferable.
Love your video, and demonstrating this so well
New subscriber and looking forward to seeing more thanks
Good Will trying using
Awesome video!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!!!
Fishing is all about marketing you only need a hook>line>bait and a beer
What i do is peg the hook by sticking a toothpick trough the soft plastic and the eye of the hook... This Holds the Soft Plastic on the hook and prevents ball up that results in lost fish...
I couldn't agree more about pegging the weight
From one Ohioan to another, thanks for always having awesome tips!
What about using a swivel?
If you don’t peg a t-rig, isn’t that like a hybrid c-rig?
If you throwing way out there with heavier hook it will work fine but maybe your line was to small and or your rod was to light, heavier line and rod and can set a heavy wire like a light wire!
"you still have a 10 1/4 inch worm"
yeah buddy same same
So here in Arizona unless you go to the river catfish are pond kept. I texas rig hotdogs 😂
Great Video!
Totally agree.

New sub. Thanks.
All of my catches came from closer to the edge I do cast out sometimes but no luck all my catches come from closer to the shore
Where can I get a leg (Stabilizer) with with the foot on it for my Trolling Motor
What is it called? I tried looking for it as a Stabilizer but haven't found it
Everytime I watch your videos 2 things happen. 1 I become more educated on bass fishing and 2 I realize I need to buy even more tackle. I thought I shoule be using J hooks mostly.
Awesome video I appreciate learning from your videos everytime and that is what I enjoy the most as a very young angler and TH-camr so being able too learn something everytime is just amazing
smaller weights for sure. my secret weapon is a slow fall
Never pegged a weight. That makes the texas rog a carolina rig dont it?
Healthy 10-1/4” long work
I was taught 50 years ago to use a 3/16 oz weight
I only peg when heavy flipping and punching
Do you really think you shouldn't peg your bait? I feel like jigging along the bottom is best for most soft plastics other than swimbaits. If you dont peg your weight (Eventually, i like to do 6 inches) your bait ends up way out of the strike zone doesn't it?
I love texas rigs
Great video. I am guilty of most of what you said. I use a 3/0 ewg on 5 and 6 inch worms/lizards. What size should i use on 8 and 10 inch worms/lizards? Thanks
Use 4/0 or 5/0
3/0 , or 4/0 straight shank rb.
