Lately I’ve been so disappointed in my own country, and I needed to remember we have plenty of things that are good too, and I have to have hope that the good will persevere! I would love to see you at a proper southern BBQ! Also as an American subscriber I’ve always loved watching not only to see what you and Ali have been up to but for the culture, scenery and style- not just fashion but also in lifestyle/home. ❤😊

Also, I know it’s hard, I know I know, I’m also used to a full face. But Gosh you look sooo much better without any makeup.. i think your whole journey style change, lifestyle change will eventually lead you to no makeup or little makeup.
I love the fact that some people still enjoy dressing nicely and looking classy. I have had a profession in the last decade where I don’t have to dress “business casual”. Prior to my business casual days I worked at a hospital and had to wear a uniform -so little thought had to go into my daily wardrobe choices. While it’s been relaxing to not have to dress up, I still appreciate and enjoy those who do and I think that you Lydia pull it off so beautifully. You are an inspiration.

I can’t understand how anyone who confess to be such animal lovers, as you do, never give a thought for the horses welfare. You only have to read how many horses are put down. And yes I do have experience as my first horse was a retired race horse, thank heavens, my uncle intervened when her destiny was to be put for dogmeat, sorry there’s no easier way to say it, not because she was injured she was nervous in the starting blocks he couldn’t believe such a magnificent animal was being put down. When I first saw her you could see the pain in her eyes. I could only imagine what she’d been through. It took years for her to really overcome her past. I’m sorry, but as I watch this, I’m in tears for all the horses that die in the pursuit for man’s pleasure.

Hi Lydia! I was born and raised in Louisville KY and while I’m very excited you were able to visit . I really am very sad at how this racing brutalizes horses. I’m hopeful it will end as many of the dog racing tracks have been shut down in recent years.

Your respect for a slower pace, love for the “smaller things, and all things “lady like” all speak to my soul. Watching your videos feel like I’m watching a long lost relative that lives overseas:)
I totally get the excitement about the growth in the gardens. Your gardening content is my favourite to watch, it gets me in the mood so much for getting on with my own. I now have two new huge sleeper veggie beds down to grow things in this year, hopefully I'll get another two down before the end of the summer but as I like building them and doing it all myself it's a bit of a big task but I definitely want to get another one down to grow my pumpkins and gourds in for autumn. I remember, from when you lived in your 1st home in MK, your obsession with white shirts/tops, tailored trousers/jeans and blazers. You've come a long way, but I love the elegant minimalistic tailored looks that you've gone back to! ❤
Thank you for sharing all your recent trips with us! It’s such a treat, to get to see and experience all these lovely things alongside you this way! So thank you ❤
Loved your vlog Lydia! It was a real treat to attend the Kentucky Derby with you and Ali and experience all the fashion, Fanfare and excitement that comes with it. Also, loved all your outfits. Staying true to your own individual style you are like a cross between an English Rose and a Southern Belle. Glad to see you enjoyed it so much! 💕 41:29
I never comment but you on the plane on the way home looked amazing. Straight hair and no make up you looked so young soft and beautiful ... you look so glam normally but it was so nice to see this side of you
The Kentucky Derby?! Lucky you! Your outfits were perfection, you fit right in. I’m from the Midwest and there is nothing like Southern Hospitality to make you feel warm and welcomed! Everyone is so friendly and Southerners “do” hospitality better than anyone. 🌸🌼🌺 Oh, and I laughed so hard when you were jumping up and down and then yelled, “God Bless America”! 😂
Kentucky derby is such a cruel event regarding horrendous abuse of horses💔So disappointing to see influencers supporting and sharing about these events with no awareness💔
I have to agree with everything you said. Just a little bit of research (Animal Aid in the UK is a good starting point) shows you the horrors of this industry. to be fair to Lydia, I just don’t think people realise how bad it is ❤️
I’m from Kentucky ❤ so glad you were able to participate in Derby. Such a great experience. I can definitely see the southern belle influence in your style!
I think your "utter death" look aka freshly scrubbed face and straight hair is gorgeous!! I also think your style is 40's, 50's, its beautiful and Ive been known to drag out the 1950s dress occasionally. Always gets lots of complements because hardly anyone wears feminine dresses at all anymore. Anyhoo, thanks for taking us with you and isnt the best part of going away coming home? It is for me, such a homebody. 😂
Lydia thank you so much for your kind words about America... I am so proud to be an American and watching this further validates why I have grown distant from other UK influencers who have visited my country and been quite snooty regarding some things... my answer is if you don't like the food culture..then stay at home... I truly love you and Ali you guys are beautiful inside and out!!!
You looked lovely Lydia on the plane when doing your routine with straight hair and minimal makeup! Reminds me of the days when you did the Folli Follie trip to Greece which is one of my fave vids you’ve done xx
Your style is American Southern, I love the style (I’m in California but grew up in Texas) and just like how all our accents are different based on geographic region so is our style! Southern style is reminiscent of classic England with a twist! So fun!
As an American living in the Deep South (Louisiana), I thought this was such a lovely and entertaining vlog. So glad you enjoyed your stay and the locals made you feel welcome! I’ve followed you for years and I love to watch you evolve and grow, and just let us tag along.
*Southern not just general American. The American South has a very old fashioned/ classic feel to the style. It’s beautiful for a visit. ❤ but other parts of the country have a very different style or aesthetic. Like NY, LA, Miami, the Midwest, Cape Cod, the Pacific Northwest… it’s a huge country so there are a lot of different styles. Cape Cod also correlated to your style at times.
I am a Kentuckian and a long time subscriber. Your style is the perfect example of a beautiful, ultra feminine lady. I agree with others in that it is quite southern belle in ways. I think a mix of that and luxurious Europe style also. Love you and continued blessings. ~Love&Light♥️C.
Lydia your American influenced fashion is about the wealthy classy American woman... there is absolutely something to be said about this.. the older generation of women in America usually dress very well no matter their socioeconomic status.. but you fit into the Nantucket Hamptons style of dress in my humble opinion.... there is absolutely nothing wrong with being wealthy especially if you have worked hard❤
It’s not all Americans, it’s just that your in the southern states. The people in the south are the most sweetest and welcoming. They are super chatty and friendly ❤❤❤
Awww….yes this is true, there are many southern state Americans who are welcoming et kind but not all. Like anywhere. AMERICA has beautiful states with kind, welcoming people. Goodness, there are very welcoming beautiful people in the Northeast, Northwest, Midwest, Southwest et PacificNW. Ive lived in many states et like everywhere, some good people et some bad. If you are kind et treat all equally, you will be welcomed et meet friendly, chatty (bubbly) people. Kind people are kind to all, that is why we should all be kind et welcoming people the world over…so be kind. No shade to you at all…hmmm, just think you came across like its only the Southern State Americans. My sincerest apologies if you did not mean it as so. peace to you et your family always! 🖤🤍❤️ #kind #friendly #sympathetic #equal #humane #bubblychat #honest #smile #pleasebekind x
I think your recordings of Louisville, KY managed to capture the feel of the American mid-south. Corn Pudding is common in the American south. "Slugger" is a baseball term. A Louisville slugger is a large, wooden baseball bat. The dress and the hat fit right in. You are popular in North America because you have what appeals to us. You are down to earth and a hard worker.
Such a lovely vlog. I do think you and Ali would have a very good time touring more of the southern states. The plantation homes and gardens in many of the southern states are beautiful and educational at the same time. There is so much to learn and love wherever you travel but I do think Lydia would love a good garden tea in the south.
And yes, say Derby like Durby not Darby. If you desire to pronounce it correctly, but it's ok, it's not like when we go to England we start changing our American accents into fine beautiful British ones.
I am so glad that you had a wonderful time here in America, when we look outside front doors, we find out that we are more alike than we are different. Sending nothing but love your way and glad to see you and Ally enjoying the Kentucky Derby and please come again next year. Nothing but love your American sister by the way, I always love your style.
Asparagus 😳 wow they are huge , even Lumi stopped to admire them 🤗. Your outfits were wonderful and your pink headband was gorgeous. I love the trips when you both get to go … perfect. Take care of each other xx xxx
I’m still watching the video so idk if you mention this but American culture based on where you are in the country is soooo different! I’m from New Jersey and have very little similarities to people from the south
But nevertheless, so happy you enjoyed your time and saw some of the beauty we have to offer! Hopefully you come back to America soon specifically the NY area!
I share your enthusiasm about your garden! We were gone for 3 weeks recently and our small balcony has just exploded! Little grape hyacinths that were only small green leaf clusters were blooming. I had a potato that was growing legs so I just stuck it in a pot which hadn't even broke soil when we left...came home to a green bush! I had sown a bunch of radish, arugula and mixed lettuce seeds that were barely showing and now they are just thriving. I'm not an experienced gardener and my motto is 'if it grows, it grows' so this is pretty exciting for me.
So glad you enjoyed your trip to Kentucky. I’m in Memphis, TN and you’ll find that this part of the country ( southeast) is the most friendly and hospitable. And we love any occasion to dress up so not just for derby days. Your style is definitely reminiscent of southern lady fashion and lifestyle. If you ever leave England and relocate to the US definitely find a nice spot in the south to settle down. P.S…I think Ali could definitely narrate a documentary. Such a calming voice. ☺️❤️🙏🏻✌🏻
You looked amazing. Every outfit. Thank you for acknowledging us Americans. So happy you had a great time. There is so much to love in the U.S. Love your hair straight. You showed so much more personality in this vlog. Its great.
I can not help but agree more. 7 horses that died leading to the derby which two had to be put down due to injury. So sad and when u see the horses up close, it always makes me wonder how drugged they must be… but besides that, I enjoy your channel immensely and hope u hold high standards with animal content or related subjects since I know u both are big animal lovers!
@@A.E123 There are actually strict drug testing protocols which is why when drug use is discovered titles are taken away, trainers are banned from races, etc.
It is so very cruel, I don’t know how Ali, and you like that kind of event. I always thought you both hated cruelty to animals. Love watching you and Ali, but this is so disappointing never thought you two would think this is wonderful. 🏴🇺🇸
Lydia you are you! And I love your ever changing fashion. Your style is reminiscent of Her Royal Highness, Catherine, Princess of Wales. However, your character and charm “persona” is spot on Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. And that’s the mix of your style. I love it!
Hi Lydia! Your style definitely meshes with us Americans ❤ Continue being a ray of sunshine in all that you do, knowing that you are truly appreciated. You looked beautiful 🥰
I can’t believe you were in not only in America but you were in the SOUTH! The sweetest people in the world are American southerners. I’m an American who’s been following you for 8 years…. I live in the south (I’m from North Carolina) but I live in south Florida now…. I’ve been to the derby once and it’s such a lovely experience but what they say is true, the horses are treated poorly.
I was at the Kentucky Derby wearing my Oscar De La Renta Dress!! I saw you and tried to make my way over to you, but there was so many people there this year! You looked beautiful! And yes we love our race day fashion!😊
So interesting...!! I am actually planning to live in the UK in the future because I find this new America to be not the friendliest of places any more. It's English villages, farm shops, Gardening, Gardening, Gardening, being able to ride (horses) more often and with a friendlier country climate ('merica likes to push down our riding farms for subdivisions), cozy Agas, fireplaces and all the northern rainy coastlines for me... however, it's nice to hear y'alls impressions of America and Americans. I am so glad that we've been lovely - it gives me some hope. 💚
It’s nice to hear you were properly welcomed to the United States with some of our gracious Southern hospitality! I’m so pleased you were able to enjoy two of the main days of Derby week! They truly go all out all week long in Louisville with all sorts of events and celebrations centered around The Derby! You were beyond stunning in that Luciana Emilia check gown! So elegant and so chic! Your hair and makeup complimented the gown perfectly! 😍😍😍 You looked beautiful in your Oaks and Derby outfits too. I’m partial to occasions where you can go all out with hats or headpieces! It’s such fun to get all gussied up (Southern speak for dressing up for something special 😉☺️😊)! Sorry about your luggage fiasco. That’s never a pleasant inconvenience to muddle through. A little time getting reacquainted with your fur babies and garden will hopefully take the edge off from being treated less than cordially. Deep breath... and welcome home! 🥰
So thrilled that you got to experience more of the US and the Kentucky Derby no less. You looked stunning! Yes, us girlie girls always love our dresses and yours. 😊 In addition, especially in the south, Americans are very warm and welcoming. So happy that you and Ali had a blast stateside! ❤️ Next time, come out west to Los Angeles.
Thank you, Lydia, for this wonderful video! I have not enjoyed a video as much as I've enjoyed this one in a very long time. I cannot wait until your return to the Kentucky Derby next year.🐎👒💙
I would agree that your style strangely aligns with some super high end/ classy American style but also, weirdly also very Kate M! I think your style is just uniquely you-
Welcome to America!! This is such a fun video. Your outfits are perfect-so glamorous and stylish. I do have a question: how do you pack your hats? Do you have hat boxes? I think your style is very reminiscent of ‘50s and ‘60s a lá Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. Just lovely!❤❤❤
I realize you have no way of knowing this information, but seven horses died at Churchill Downs a week before Derby. Several were scheduled to be in the big race. These beautiful creatures are not treated as the sentient beings they truly are. The big race is for three year-old, which means they start training before their bodies and skeletal system are fully developed. Many, as seen by the seven dead, have painful injuries that require them to be euthanized or often end up at auctions in deplorable conditions. They are not pets. They are treated as a commodity and once they no longer make money, which is their only purpose in the racing industry, they are cast aside. It is a terribly cruel industry and people need to be educated. That's the only reason I'm sharing with you. Not to shame you for going as you did not know. There are so many horse, equine rescues here in the US that have valuable information on their Instagram accounts. Many heartbreaking starved and sick horses bought by rescues and rehabilitated to live a life with a pack, a new family. At auctions they often separate the babies from their mamas. You can hear them crying for each other in the videos. I hope that everyone who reads this comment will do her/his own research and stop supporting this industry built on a beautiful creature's pain.
You look so much younger with straight hair and no make up look that you had on the flight! In terms of luggage, it’s good to pop an Apple air tag into your suitcases and you can track it’s location.
Your oaks day look was beautiful! That dress & headpiece is just stunning, your always so sophisticated! Congratulations on your win! I feel like you would love the Melbourne cup, held in Australia if you haven’t attended already. People travel from all over Australia to attend, it’s also known as “the race that stops the nation”. I don’t live in Melbourne, I live in Western Australia but many workplaces around Australia will do a dress up on Melbourne cup day to celebrate and the fashion at the event is just exquisite! 💗 Thankyou for sharing all these beautiful trips & experiences with us, it really is such a treat to watch! ✨also very random request but would you ever do a future video regarding your wedding? Maybe looking back on the day anything you loved and are glad you did or anything you would have changed looking back now? I also remember you mentioning in a vlog showing your three outfits about the making of the skirt, if you would ever be open to sharing the behind the scenes of the making of your gown, I just love your style & wedding was absolutely stunning! Your style has evolved so much since your wedding but it’s always so sophisticated, I love it!
Woodford Reserve Bourbon Balls are the best! I was drooling when you mentioned them. I am so lucky that for the past 8 years, I get to call it home, and coming from Dorset in the UK, I couldn't have asked to end up in a better part of the USA than here. Americans (particularly in the South) are some of the most welcoming and friendly people you could wish to meet and I am so pleased you both got to enjoy your first derby here in Kentucky (hopefully, it won't be your last). Thoroughly enjoyed this vlog so thank you for taking us with you! 🏇❤

It always makes my day better to see that Lydia has uploaded!!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Oh Wow! You have already been! It is a Fantastic Event!! So glad you got to be a part of the Celebration!😊
Thank you for sharing all your recent trips with us! It’s such a treat, to get to see and experience all these lovely things alongside you this way! So thank you ❤
Your makeup in America was so gorgeous , you were glowing, love what you said about older women wearing lovely dresses
So glad you enjoy the Derby and your time in the U.S! Also laughed so hard when you screamed “God bless America” 😂you’re too cute!
I loved that too ☺️
i’m from Kentucky and I’m so glad you got to experience the derby!!! ❤️
I never comment but you on the plane on the way home looked amazing. Straight hair and no make up you looked so young soft and beautiful ... you look so glam normally but it was so nice to see this side of you
I like how happy and joyous your videos are. Thank you! 🌻
Kentucky derby is such a cruel event regarding horrendous abuse of horses💔So disappointing to see influencers supporting and sharing about these events with no awareness💔
especially as she claims to love horses
YES YES YES and when she speaks against pheasant hunting etc. but i guess when they fly her out and pay for an advert it doesn’t matter
It's like our grand national that sees horses murdered so humans can get dressed up and get drunk and have a good old bet. Barbaric
she wears leather too!...let her burn! 🔥 🔥 🔥 😂
I have to agree with everything you said. Just a little bit of research (Animal Aid in the UK is a good starting point) shows you the horrors of this industry. to be fair to Lydia, I just don’t think people realise how bad it is ❤️
You are timeless, elegant and regal. This is very popular on both sides of the pond 💕💕💕
So fun!
You looked so elegant and adorable with the head band, bow and the dress. Loving your style! 💖
As an American living in the Deep South (Louisiana), I thought this was such a lovely and entertaining vlog. So glad you enjoyed your stay and the locals made you feel welcome! I’ve followed you for years and I love to watch you evolve and grow, and just let us tag along.
Hello neighbor:) North Louisiana is home sweet home for me.
I’m so glad you had a great time here in my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky! Hope you enjoyed your stay. Come back, we’d love to have you!
#kind #friendly #sympathetic #equal #humane #bubblychat #honest
#smile #pleasebekind x
As a Tennessee girl, I support this message ❤😂
I think your recordings of Louisville, KY managed to capture the feel of the American mid-south. Corn Pudding is common in the American south. "Slugger" is a baseball term. A Louisville slugger is a large, wooden baseball bat. The dress and the hat fit right in. You are popular in North America because you have what appeals to us. You are down to earth and a hard worker.
Oh Susan! this is so lovely to hear thank you x
She definitely is a hard worker, self starter, industrious....
As a Southerner, I grew up eating corn pudding (and it shows, lol). Native Americans get credit for that recipe!
I was going to say the exact same thing
I share your enthusiasm about your garden! We were gone for 3 weeks recently and our small balcony has just exploded! Little grape hyacinths that were only small green leaf clusters were blooming. I had a potato that was growing legs so I just stuck it in a pot which hadn't even broke soil when we left...came home to a green bush! I had sown a bunch of radish, arugula and mixed lettuce seeds that were barely showing and now they are just thriving. I'm not an experienced gardener and my motto is 'if it grows, it grows' so this is pretty exciting for me.
I’m so happy you had such a good time. There are so many great places to visit in the United States. Please come back and see more of our country.
Its great.
You looked so stunning in your blue gala dress. I also loved the green dress with the pink bow. It looks like you and Ali had an amazing time.
The Kentucky Derby is beautiful but the treatment of the horses is just terrible and not worth it. As always you look beautiful.
I can not help but agree more. 7 horses that died leading to the derby which two had to be put down due to injury. So sad and when u see the horses up close, it always makes me wonder how drugged they must be… but
besides that, I enjoy your channel immensely and hope u hold high standards with animal content or related subjects since I know u both are big animal lovers!
@@A.E123 There are actually strict drug testing protocols which is why when drug use is discovered titles are taken away, trainers are banned from races, etc.
I totally agree....I love your channel and you but this is a horrible event....to bad you support this😢😢😢😢😢
It is so very cruel, I don’t know how Ali, and you like that kind of event. I always thought you both hated cruelty to animals. Love watching you and Ali, but this is so disappointing never thought you two would think this is wonderful.
🏴🇺🇸
EL FIN 😢😢
Please do the video on your makeup look. It’s really well done and also your hair.
Glad you had a lovely American experience 😊
YES WE HEARD 😂❤ Loved hearing you so excited Congrats on the winner
Welcome home and the tulips are still lovely! Exciting travels and so sorry about the travel issues! I'm sure you were one of the best dressed.
Your silk gown in Gingham literally took my breath away!
You truly are the epidemy of a classic southern beauty.
I'm so happy you had a great time here in America.
You seemed very relaxed in Kentucky.
Your hair looks lovely straight.
I love how you and Ali pronounce Derby. Glad you had a wonderful time in the States.
Thank you, Lydia, for this wonderful video! I have not enjoyed a video as much as I've enjoyed this one in a very long time. I cannot wait until your return to the Kentucky Derby next year.🐎👒💙
U always look fabulous my lady, thanks for taking us along. 🙏🏼❤️😘😘😘Sandy
That was so enjoyable to watch, lovely to see you home and the gardens coming along well xxxxx😘😘
You two are the most beautiful couple I have ever seen!! You look phenomenal. Love your journey ❤️
I would agree that your style strangely aligns with some super high end/ classy American style but also, weirdly also very Kate M! I think your style is just uniquely you-
The UK is beautiful, the style, food and people are lovely! xoxo could listen to you talk all day! love the UK accent
So thoroughly lovely and wholesome!! Really really enjoyed this upload. Thank you Lydia!!
awe loved seeing the straight hair at the end...nice change reminds me of old lyds
I’m sorry….but sentient beings????????? In what world is that true
Yes… we love you here in the US!! You inspire♥️🌺🌹♥️
You got the full *southern* American experience, Lydia! You’d love Dallas, the ladies dress so beautifully here 🥰❤
You look so much younger with straight hair and no make up look that you had on the flight! In terms of luggage, it’s good to pop an Apple air tag into your suitcases and you can track it’s location.
I love your joy. Much love to you and Ali x x
Loved your hair on the plane coming home stunning straight
I'm as obsessed with the UK and British people as you are with us Americans! ❤
Exactly!!! I am the same. I love anything English countryside, all the vlogging, style, it goes on and on. ❤
Loved to see you enjoy the Derby!!
Lovely husband. Cherish him🇬🇧🥰
Woodford Reserve Bourbon Balls are the best! 🏇❤
Lydia please look at William Chambers millenary he is so classy and very much your elegant style he is a British brand that designs across all lifestyles and celebrities I know you will love his designs he is based in Glasgow but is known world wide 😊❤❤❤
Thank you for bringing us with you. 😘
