Thank you for what you do! Your videos are incredibly helpful, direct, and quite inspiring for those of us with less teaching experience. Looking forward to more of your content.
You’ve given me some good business ideas, so here’s an idea for you: You interview clients on Zoom and then turn that interview into an edited intro video that they can use to get teaching jobs. You coach them during the interview and piece clips from the video into an edited video that looks great.
It's a great idea but its trading time for money and I simply dont have the time for it. Not sure how much I would make from that but it sounds like a lot of work!
Hi Tim, firstly I was delighted to receive an email from you yesterday as sort of missed you not being around 😁After watching this video on how to do a video especially centred around Cambly I wanted to ask if it is alright to make a more upbeat video including props etc. I am a very energetic person but am at a loss now as have watched other people's videos regarding Cambly and some of them are virtually bouncing off the walls as such so my question is seeing as you are the most knowledgeable of all shall I just keep my video low key or let my bubbly personality shine through. Don't quite know at this stage what Cambly are looking for in tutors so hoping you can enlighten me with your input regarding this. Take care and was lovely to hear from you again😅
Hi Triski - thanks for your comment :) I would say for Cambly Kids, yes use props but you don't need to bounce off the walls :) They aren't looking for that. For. Cambly tutors (adults) you do not want to be super high energy and no props are needed...for the kids side, yes bring some energy but tone it down a bit. Hope that helps.
@@onlineteacherdude1284 Thanks so much for your guidance and no indeed I have no desire to bounce off the walls, despite having a high energy level and most definitely would not use props of any sort for the adults, have set up my classroom for both kids and adults - kids with teddy bear and bright colourful poster, for adults I remove teddy bear and replace with photo and remove kids poster for a more toned down poster. I appreciate all your guidance and have been an avid follower of yours for just on a year now, basically when I started my TEFL journey. Firstly I did the 120 Hour followed by a TQUK L5 certificate and added to it, just completed my TBE as I know I will be competing with a lot a established and proficient teachers out there but I am going to persevere as I have always had the desire to teach and help other people. I opened a school many years ago on our farm (alas I am based in the city now) as felt so sorry for the little tykes having to walk such great distances to get some form of education and ended up teaching children of all ages, it was great fun. Once again thank you for all your great videos, guidance and wonderful advice - most appreciated. P.S kindly ignore email I sent you regarding the same query. Take care Tim and give Yinyin a cuddle from me😍
Hey Tim - Great video. How about an example video for companies (generic) ? I'd love to see your approach to this too. Your script example was a big help for me and inspired me to know what to say in my own videos, thanks!
@@onlineteacherdude1284 Hi. Thanks! I was referring to a generic interview video for a company (to be hired) versus an intro video for potential students.
Hey Tim! Your video was very helpful! For Cambly Kids or any company teaching kids, should I use props? Should I also mention TPR and a reward system? Thanks!
Why do you censor comments? What I said the other day was the truth and you jumped onto the fear-mongering bandwagon against VIPKid? Well, as we can see now, I was correct. It is September and they are still in operation...
Hans, I do not censor comments. I have never deleted a comment from a viewer...ever. The only ones I delete are porn sites lol. If you put a link in a comment, TH-cam deletes it. Also, I never fear mongered anything against VIPKid. If you follow my videos you will see that I just report facts and not speculation and I steer on the side of staying positive and hopeful but also realistic. My thoughts have always been optimistic about VIPKid but, at the end of the day, no one really knows. Ultimately, our time is limited based on what we know from the policy but we could be teaching for a while but it might all end soon - again, no one actually knows for sure.
@@onlineteacherdude1284 Alright, that makes sense. And yes, I also agree that VIPKid may be nearing its end. What I was in disagreement with about was the timeline. In any case, I do concur with you that it's always good to have alternative work/sources of income, etc.
@@hanshartmann2647 I never gave a timeline...how would I have a timeline of when they end? Just going by what the gov't has said and what VIPKid has said...nothing more, nothing less. When I know something more I will share it but at this point, I know as much as you do.

Can you elaborate more about placing a link to a profile video on one's CV. I love this idea. I'm actually updating my resume at the present moment.
Yes please!!!
Hi Vicky, just upload the video to whatever platform , like youtube and copy and paste the link onto your resume.
Great video Tim! Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
Thank you David!
Absolutely brilliant video.

Thanks Jillian - basically, this is how i would do a company generic one, I just used Cambly as an example but this could be used for any company.

Thanks Danielle! For CK, simple props are fine with a little TPR - nothing overboard is needed. Hope that helps!

Do you have recommendations for editing software?
Yes, I suggested iMovie in the video.
Is it alright to apply background music without lyrics?
I have already done this and wait for the reply, yet still 😅
Yes for sure...make sure the music is copywrite free - TH-cam studio has tons of free music.
Are virtual backgrounds ok?
Yes for sure!
How are the Chinese ones different?
They aren't really. More or less the same things needed.
Sorry I missed it
you're here now!

@@britishenglishlanguagecons3728 It depends but I notice it happens sometimes because it gets flagged as spam.

I never would - not my style! I am casual :) Certainly not required at all.
