Thanks DadGamers TV. I watched a few videos on modding, including ETA Prime's, but your video gave me unique information that suits my needs. I got an old Super Console X several years ago but didn't play much (the ps3 controllers suck), so I wanted to put it in an Arcade1up. Your video fits my situation, as the Arcade Box is similar (both use Emulec). I also didn't understand why we need to splice stock speakers and get an expensive AMP for sound anyways; your suggestion of using old computer speakers is great (I got one for 7 bucks from GoodWill). Finally, your tips on controller/display settings and hot keys for sound control are very helpful. I have a fully functional Street Fighter Arcade1up mod now with Super Console X, very happy. Thanks!

Lil tip for anyone doing this mod with a midway legacy - you can order a new control panel with the additional button holes pre drilled for like 65 bucks. Made this project super smooth...thanks a ton DadGamer!

Thanks! I put the box in there upside down so its fan can breathe. Alot of people putting it in regular have had overheating issues and system failures. I keep it on constantly, no issues.
Thank you for great video, it gave me enough info to do this myself. I found out that if you buy the cheap amp seen in other mods, you can use the stock speakers when they are connected from the HDMI board to the amp. Hope this helps someone in the future as well.

I do have a quick question though, at the end of your video when you're showing some of the games, i.e. Mortal Kombat, will there always be black side bars for certain games? I saw in a different video where you can go into settings and set the video output to 16:9, is this an option that's available on your system? Can't wait to start playing some old school games!
Yes, switch the ratio to 16:9 and it’ll be full screen
You’ll notice that with Sega NAOMI the mvc2 has all players unlocked to avoid any frustration and having to grind and buy characters.

Thanks you 👍 one question, I went through the process of mapping the controls like you showed but then when I jump into games the system seems to default to different controls for different systems/games and it loses the mapping I just put in? . Any idea how I could make this work consistently in the settings perhaps?
That happened to me too, i just kept annoyingly remapping them and left it on. They ended up sticking after leaving it on

***To remove the wires - use a small flat head screw driver, and gently lift them off the pins - They won't break !!

The only issue that bothered me with this particular cab is that its kinda short for me ( I'm 6.2 ), so I ended up buying four metallic legs 10cm in height to raise it up a bit.
One question - wouldn't it be possible to use the speakers the cabinet comes with ? They seem to have a standard speaker jack, I think so anyway.
Yes, you can use the original speakers.the pcb has a 3.5 mm jack in it as well, it has 2 of them just make sure you plug it in the right one. Theyre just not as loud.

Sorry, i just saw this. You can do it with any cabinet as long as you get an HDMI converter that is compatible with its screen. I will make a video of the games when i get a chance to
To get full screen without the bars, use aspect ratio 30/17!

Thanks. Different machines have different connections so just make sure you have the right HDMI converter. Once you get a converter, you throw anything thats hdmi in there.

Love this video bro As a fellow dad, i have a question? I built a bartop using same joystick kit except I used the super console pro cube instead of the arcade box. Worked pretty good except it took real long for screen to pass the Emulec boot up screen. And it kept switching the joystick from player one to player two after some boot ups. Did the same thing happen to you using the the arcade box? I want to build another bartop using the arcade box if it works better and more consistent. Thanks bro. Salud 🍻
Yup same thing happened to me, then i double checked the wiring. Have to make sure they are wired into the same exact spots as each other. Use the diagram if it came with one. After i double checked the wires, it was fine.
Do you have to turn on the Arcade Box from inside the cabinet or how does that work? Simple method though I like this a lot. I was thinking of getting a PC to run Botocera on one of these but may do this instead. I want it to be as seamless as possible, as if it were intended to come that way.
After i made the video i ended up drilling a hole in the back cover of the cabinet , right where the power button is on the Arcade Box. Since i mounted the arcade box on the rear support panel, it made it easier to do so. That way i dont have to keep taking the back panel off.
@@dadgamertv84 That’s a good idea. I’m doing a build with a PC instead of the Arcade Box. I bought a remote power button for it, and I’m going to drill a hole in the back as well. I liked the PC option as it seems more versatile and also it was cheaper lol.
thanks for this beautiful video, i have followed the steps and am all good, but i also have encountered some issues, i have the latest arcade1up the yoga flame one, 2 features stopped working which is the cabinet lighting and the internal speaker that comes in it, i had to buy a new speaker, if you ever going to make a new video to mod ur speakers it would be lovely instead of buying external ones, am in for another challenge as well. as for mine i have added three more button and i used a drill to make the holes more wider a bit to fit "in" the button instead of them popping out just like urs for the additional ones, and you got a subscribe

How well does the Emulation work on this? Some of these pandora box things emulate games horribly. So I was curious how well MVC 2 runs and some other arcade games. Do they all run great or do they have issues with this system. Thanks!
Honestly, MvC2 runs the best out of any other game i tried. Some games look great, some games look like shit. The button layout that the MK cabinet came with isnt the best for most games. Im gonna have to upgrade to a better deck in the future but as of right now its perfect as an interactive piece of decor to bring you back memory lane.

Yes i leave mine on BUT make sure the fan of the arcade box is facing out. Change the button mapping in the arcade box menu

I did all the same stuff in my Simpsons cabinet, but I can't stand how it does not use the full screen properly. These arcade boxes are made to work great on a 16:9 tv. I saw that your basketball had the black bars on the sides. I was able to configure game by game to solve this if you set that basketball game to 16:9 instead of "auto" with bezels removed as you have it, it will fill the screen and look great. However, I can't find a way to do it "across the board" to have video output as a 4:3 display so it fills the screen properly - the same 16:9 setting in game like galaga stretches the screen horribly. Did you ever find a way past this?
Yeah i put it on 4/3 under system settings and it stayed for all games
I see where you said you made a hole for new on off button button when changing old off on button did you just change configuration or was it a port in the back that had to be plugged in to new button motherboard
Yes, the motherboard comes with a diagram. Make sure select is plugged into select. Also, map it in the menu.

Working fine. Its more if a decoration piece these days, i change the game every couple days. I leave it on. Alot of guys were mounting the box with the fan up against the wall which was making it shit the bed. I have mine with the fan facing out.

Stock speaker isnt as loud. I like to use aftermarket. Bigger sound. But yeah you can use it if you want
Good video 🫶. I have two questions. The first is that the whole thing works without replacing the original buttons. The second question is does the coin slot still work after the mod? I would like to set up a machine with lots of games, but the coin slot has to work.
My coin slots are non functional, theyre just a flat panel board. And yes you have to replace the buttons for this particular mod
Last question I promise....The game unit itself seems to be coming from outer space somewhere....is there another retro box/android game box that you can recomend that will work with this setup? I just don't want to order the wrong one, the right one looks like a Thanksgiving delivery date
I assume anything you can hook up with HDMI would good, like any one of those multi game consoles. Not too sure, i just saw someone do it with this one. No complaints from me at all about it

The button kits come with 10 buttons for each color. So i dont see why not

Those people most likely installed it with the fan up against the inside wall. You gotta install it with the fan facing out

I bought this arcade box because I watched your video. When I plugged it in the screen is white. I hooked the arcade box to the tv, so I know it works. When I connect it to arcade cabinet. The screen stays white
Make sure the the moniter circuit board that has the power button is attached securely. If its loose, it will mess with the screen

Do you know how to reset the arcade box? I'm having issues with the games, I had them on 16/9 and no bezels for full screen viewing, now they are all playing with bezels and they are only showing in the middle of the screen, even though the settings are still on 16:9 and no bezel

I have a question the light on the motherboard is green and the screen lights up white for about 10 seconds then the light switches to red any reason why?
Might just be loose. Make sure the board is really secure (without cracking it of course) . I had the same issue

do the stock speakers not work right with it? its extremely low volume even when i hold select and crank the volume up. i tried both the port on the box and the vga board
Yeah they were low for me too. I had pc speakers laying around thankfully. But again, this arcade is nothing more than an interactive decoration for me.
@@dadgamertv84 oh ok i thought i hooked something up wrong lol. i figured out how to remove the RA borders finally.. it wasnt allowing me in the UI settings menu i had to in the emulation menu.. from there i could choose the 16:9 ratio and play full screen

Did you remove the bezel in the settings?
@@dadgamertv84 yeah I removed bezels and tried the ratios. Start up the monitor terminal fits great. But then the emulation station gets into a weird ratio at the start of loading

I have the same exact setup but I can't get to the button programming screen because my main screen looks different than that I'm guessing maybe a cheap knockoff is what I got or something but any tips to get this done cuz my buttons are all jacked up up is right down is left. Check and see if your connections for both controls are plugged into the same exact ports on the encoder board, that can be the issue. Do you have the encoder diagram?
Also check and see if your joystick is installed upside down
You know I bought it from China so it didn't come with an encoder guide so I kind of had to wing it and it also didn't have like the app controllers do where you can just plug in all four of the joystick directions if it's one plug I had to actually individually put them in there was two two wires per direction and I'm almost positive I put them in upside down and I didn't install two extra buttons but like every time I go to try to map it on like a like retroarch or something it shows like a dual dual analog like PlayStation looking controller I'm also due to this if you can't tell but thanks I'll try to flip them around and see if that helps it looks simple but you can kind of get yourself mixed up if you're like doing it in between watching the kids running around or something

Hey man I’m doing this to my NBA jam 4 player and I’m struggling to get buttons to work. Do I need to add more buttons to get it to work correctly? And how did you get your speakers to work
This is a 2 player mod only, since the arcade box only supports 2 players. I connected old computer speakers but the hdmi converter supports the 3.5mm jack for the stock speakers

Yeah I don’t care about the other two joysticks, just trying to get two of them to work. I did buy a four joystick upgrade so my wires look different then yours. Just can’t figure out how to plug them into the board. Seems like everything I try it won’t bring up that menu to set controlers

Steam deck i don’t know but since you’re converting it to HDMI, you can probably hook up whatever you want thats controlled by USB. Ps4, old xbox, etc.

Does it matter what sequence the buttons are in the slots - Because it's not letting me choose the player 1 (Start) key - Like am I supposed to place that one in slot 1
Yeah it does matter, you have to follow the diagram, and you have place player 2 in the same sequence as player 1 or else the controls go haywire

They’re necessary for THIS TYPE of mod. Because they need the usb connections to plug into the controller ports
Drill holes on the side, so it's like pinball, so you don't have the 2 buttons sitting on top
I already drilled the holes where the original ON/OFF & VOL switches were. I still have 2 extra buttons, i was thinking of doing the pinball buttons
