  • Blender 2.8 Tutorial - Cell Fracture Explosion. In this blender 2.8 tutorial we will take a look at how to make a planet explode using the cell fracture addon, force fields and many more. We will take a look at how to use gravity in Blender 3D and disabling it for this affect.
    We will also take a quick look at texturing in Blender using a color texture, roughness texture and normal map texture. Moving on to rigid body physics we will create the effect of the pieces of the sphere falling away.

    Cell Fracture really deserves a proper development, great feature that is sadly pretty limited.

    Thank you so much for this vid, been having way too much fun with the splosions :) If I wanted to keep the shell slightly separated (like frame 3 or 4 of the animation) as a still object, while the rest of the scene animates (orbiting lights within the shell) - what would you recommend? Could I keyframe it to be passive from that frame onwards?
    What could compliment the forcefield so that the shell would kind of vibrate between two gravitational pulls?
    Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Cheers man :)

    • @JakeDavies
      @JakeDavies 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I came to the comments to find this exact question. I seemed to have figured it out with just that, another force field. First force field was key framed in strength from 0 - 50 for the first 70 frames. Then the second force field comes in at frame 70 with a strength of -50 to bring the cells back in. Play around with these settings though if anyone is looking to do this too!

  • @matgogole

    Hello! Thank you very much for that tutorial because it is very clear. Nevertheless, I would like to try to make an egg explode for the game I am making, so it's like a very thin sphere because of the hole inside of it (I used boolean,maybe that wasn't a good idea?) . The problem is, it blows up instantly and is too strong even when I put the strenght of the forcefield to 0.001. Do you think there is a solution to that? Thanks in advance! 😄

    This is awesome!!! What I want to do is learn how it take a destroyed object like in this and then reverse the effect and fix it.
    Think of it like this
    You have a magic power like the Time Stone in marvel. You break a rock with a hammer and shatter it. Then you use your power and reform object to what it was like earlier (with maybe some cracks in it but never the less reformed.

    • @blendermania3d

    Love this tutorial. I wanted to do something like this for some time. I do have an issue with my texture. Once I apply the cell fracture, the inner textures are stretched or scaled differently and I can't seem to find why.

    • @blendermania3d
      @blendermania3d  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey A Bmann! Glad you liked the tutorial! Can you try applying the scale of the object before doing cell fracture? Also after cell fracture you can select all the objects and hit tab to go into edit mode and unwrap them again. Another thing to try is adding a seam to the sphere and unwrapping it differently. I can help you more if you go to the official site Blendermania3d.com and post in the forums with some screenshots :)

    I adapted along the way, and as I added a texture displacement (rock like) on my sphere before to make the cell fracture, the explosion happens now super fast no matter the force in the forcefield .. I guess cause the chunks are hitting each other. Anyway to suppress that?
