@@MechanicalFrog From what little I've been able to glean from the little snippets we get here and there from time to time, the RA's took an approach to integration between the Clan and Periphery populations that was somewhat the inverse of of the GBD. That is to say: Rather then attempting to gradually forge a fusion culture to act as a new unified culture for the nation the RA has both Clan and Local cultural groups existing alongside each other peacefully. Part of the reason this was possible without as much tension that you would expect elsewhere is that the OA is a very diverse place where a general tolerance and acceptance of different ways of life and belief systems is a norm. As for how things came about post-Unfortunately-Named-Era: sadly what little we have on the formal formation of the Raven Alliance atm is... well... put bluntly: sloppy, illogical, somewhat contradictory to other writing, poorly thought out, and feels like it was written by someone with no understanding of actual political behaviors and systems. The Snow Ravens are effectively in control with the Outworld government now having little power over non-Outworld things and able to superseded by the Snow Ravens. This is because the Snow Ravens took "gradual" control via 2 referendums which passed because the Outworld population simply didn't care... From what I've read the Ravens have largely integrated into the Alliance. The civilian government is intact and there is a non clan military but the Clan is also answerable to that government. Through the Ravens the alliance can now build all types of Mechs, aerospace fighters, and even Warships.

The saddest part about something like the OA is that it just wanted to be left alone, but to the Star League, every periphery state was a target to sate the insatiable appetites of the great houses. The reunification war was never about unity, it was about giving the great houses an ability to fight something without fighting each other. The sheer destruction it wrought on nations like the OA and TC scarred them for centuries, and do we even have to being up Amos "Babykiller" Furlough? Even if the mission of the RW was noble (which is doubtful), its execution was not. The Periphery were never intended to be equals, but the punching bag of the great houses, something they could beat down rather than look up. The idea of an independent periphery- an alternative to the great houses and their forms of governance and status quo- was unacceptable, because then their subjects might get ideas and we can't have that. I wonder what would have happened if the RW never happened.
