  • Do you have an older Club Car DS and need a new driven clutch? Having trouble finding one online or deciding what to buy? I believe many cart parts retailers are selling the older-design, smooth-sheave driven clutch as a direct replacement for carts newer than 1987. If you want the best driven clutch, you should go for the 1988-up style driven clutch with the finned sheaves...even for carts older than 1988. Watch this video to learn more!

    Great video!
Side question, what’s your camera setup? I see you have a preview screen on the right on an iPhone?

Drive clutch or driven clutch? What model years was the clutch listed for?

Hi I have a club cart 1992 that makes a squeaky noise and none of the belts will spin
Any idea what the reason can be?
    Please

See this video. I know this is an older motor than yours but this is what the clutches should be doing when the motor starts:

I have a 1985 DS that dies on hills, if I stop and start again it goes good for a short time again then dies again, motor runs well. I noticed that someone put the newer clutch that u have in the video at some point in time. My question is do u think it needs changed again.

Without seeing what’s happening with your clutches and drive belt I can’t be sure what your issue is. Is your cart lifted? How big are the tires? Are the clutches operating properly in maintenance mode?

So, where would you recommend getting one of the aluminum driven clutches? Most for sale out there are the steel ones for the pre 1996 club car carts

Just did an eBay search just now that brought up plenty of both kinds of clutches. My exact search was ‘ “club car” driven clutch’

Most listings will say “1997-up” or “1998-up” or “1997-2014”, etc. Those are the ones you want, and make sure the picture is of the right clutch.

Do you have a video to disassemble the older one?

No I do not. I’ve tried to get that large nut off but it won’t budge. I have not taken apart one of the old ones.

You have to take the large nut off. after that you spin the sheave off. be prepared for the lower sheave to pop up. It is under tension from spring

@craigartzner I'm sure you're aware, but that big nut is left hand thread. I'm trouble shooting a clutch issue on one right now
