Why are air hand dryers actually bad for use? What makes air hand dryers something you shouldn't use again? Are they making you sick?
Here’s a nugget of knowledge you’ll never want to forget: the electric hand dryer was invented in 1948 by an inventor from Chicago called George Clemens. Well, some sources tell us that, but others say the Airdry Corporation of New York patented the process in 1922. In terms of how they look, hand dryers haven’t really changed all that much over the years. The problem back in the day but not so much now was that these machines were really noisy. Then in the 1990s we saw the introduction of the superb Mitsubishi Jet Towel, which was said to be a game changer. It was possibly overtaken in 2006 by Dyson’s Airblade or perhaps by the super-fast dryer, the Xlerator. Now you know the history of hand dryers, and you can thank us in the comments. Some public bathrooms now have these funky door handles at the base to let you open the door with your foot. A little awkward to use, in my opinion, but at least somebody's thinking about it, and maybe someone will come up with a better idea. Like using one of those electric door opener buttons that are available for handicapped people. Put those in bathrooms and you can just jab the button with your shoulder or back instead of your hand.
Exactly !! So I always wait for someone to open the doors and then I follow, kind of selfish 😂 I use my foot to stop closing doors, it looks akward to some people but I don't care .

I remember there being cloth towels looped on a roller in public bathrooms (they were always a cheap blue fabric). I guess the idea was to pull it around to a dry spot, and then the wet spots would eventually dry while hanging on the rack. Haven't seen them since the early to mid 1980s though.

A proper bathroom setup would be foot actuated flush mechanisms and a smart toilet that would raise the lid with one foot actuated mechanism and would close the lid and then flush with another foot actuated mechanism. Sinks and soap dispensers would be touchless. Doors would be either done away with or automatic, and disposable paper towels would be used for hand drying. This all being said, the main priority for public restrooms seem to be to be cheap for whoever owns them. This is why air dryers are being used and will continue being used. It saves on paper towel costs, saves on trash bags, and saves on labor.

We've got one of these in the factory I work in, that people use every time they go into the work area, and to think we're told to put hair nets and work coats on in descending order so that anything that falls doesn't fall on the outside to reduce the risk of contact and contamination. They've also gotten rid of the box of hand sanitiser gel on the wall with a notice saying something like recent studies find it's no longer required or effective, I remember doing an infection control training course as part of my previous care work where an instructor showed us the difference of bacteria on our hands using a UV light torch after we had used both hand sanitiser gel and soap and you could actually see that the sanitiser gel only moved the bacteria around but didn't remove or kill it.
Just used the time-tested, old-fashioned method of shaking/wobbling your hands frantically in the air after you wash them until all or most of the water comes off. Last but not least, use your foot or other object to push the bathroom door open on your way out ☺️

I’ve always put the seat down when flushing, and this video just solidified that.
Studies show the toilet seat is usually the cleanest part of the bathroom.
I would love to see these studies. Then, I would like to show you a public toilet seat. I don't personally have a problem with aim, but it seems that the less you live indoors, the less you care about your stream. I don't shite in public restrooms without wiping the seat off. And I am not a germaphobe. I just don't like sitting in some lowlife's piss. Yes, they're lowlives. If you refuse to think about the next ass sitting on that throne, find a bush.
