7:22 you're kind of correct. Most cities and non hardened military targets will suffer an air burst. Most missile silos are hardened and thus can only be defeated through ground bursts. As a result there would be large fallout plumes originating from states with a large number of Missile fields (Co, ND, SD, Kansas, among a few others). So the amount of fallout resulting from a full scale nuclear would be significant
Kansas no longer has ICBM's. Today Montana and North Dakota have the most. Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska each have some though. All totaled we have only 400 ICBM'S. The USA has a lot more warheads on SLBM'S though. But you are correct concerning the ground burst on these sites. Russia only has about 1500 deployed strratigic warheads and some say as many as half are aimed at our minutemen silos. But others say since Russia has a no first use policy that they are more likely aiming at American cities since the silos would be empty by the time theirs arrived. No one actually knows for certain where the Russian nukes are aimed. I tend to think military and industrial targets are most important and thus will be first hit myself. And I also know that a lot of situations could change their no first use doctrine. A aunch based on false data from their early warming systems is something that almost happened several times and remains a possibility. But all targets other than missile fields will be air burst to maximize damage. Airburst produce little fallout and thus would not contribute much to any global cooling. Also modern simulations seem to suggest not much if any cooling would occur. This was all a theory put forth by the great Carly Sagon. But computer simulations were very poor compared to today. Plus we have a lot less strategic warheads than we did back when this theory was put forth.

There is an hydroponic farm in the US(I think its in the US) so some of the US would survive without food problem.
And if u want to prep seriously u should have an hydroponic farm.

This is why last year I had a bunker Installed 40 feet underground in my backyard with food with a shelf life of 15 years that can feed my family of 4 for 10 years. And alot of guns, fallout air filter. TVs, movies and generators. I hope that this won't happen! Scary stuff.

A subterranean fallout shelter would be perfect to survive the low temperatures. That in mind, a fallout shelter should be built to be a bit more cozy
