As a WWII historian I was pretty impressed with this cinematic. WarThunder can be rather accurate and therefore makes a great platform to reenact missions like this torpedo attack. Sure it's a Japanese plane on an IJN carrier, but a lot can still be learned about how it a lot of nerves for these air crews to stay on target and fight-off the enemy while making the run. One comment I might add would be to drop the torpedo earlier. A late drop like what is shown in this video could result in miss because the torpedo did not have time to level-out. Well done!

Here's a fun fact about War Thunder:
War Thunder has quite a few carriers modelled:
HMS Illustrious
USS Yorktown
USS Lexington
USS Wasp
IJN Hiryu
IJN Souryu
IJN Shokaku
IJN Akagi
There is no Kaga however, which makes me sad, but, oh well....
The weird part is that Hiryu is used nearly everywhere.
Akagi only spawns on Guadalcanal, along with Souryu, and 2 Hiryus.
On the Midway map, There are 4 Hiryus. No Souryu, or Akagi.
The pilot is an true Torpedo legend that didnt gave up till his dead
The detail on the Kate is fantastic.
It’s an act of cowardice by landing the aircraft in the water instead of crashing it onto a fat juicy target like an aircraft carrier
The aircraft carrier flies the Imperial Japanese flag! So the pilot probably scored an own goal
This isn't the battle of Midway they didn't launch an attack on the carriers untill Hiryū was left and the US Carriers were splitted into two Task Forces, TF - 16 Enterprise and Hornet, TF - 17 Yorktown.
The 25mm couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. A Kate attacking Soryu, I'll take the Kate, 2nd best torpeo bomber behind TBM of the war. Underappreciated plane vs under gunned carrier. I'll take the Kate.

The Japananese torpedo bomber attacks his ally aircraft carrier cuz the aircraft carrier is a japanese too if you noticed.
It's already been noted that he attacked his own carrier but also something else. Since his engine was already damaged in the middle of whatever enemy formation, shouldn't he have kamikazed into that same carrier or other ship?
I think that became large scale more towards the end of the war. In guessing that the back seater guy would have chosen to bail out. 😁

Really so realistic but is so ironic to shoot a torpedo in a carrier that was made by the same country that made the same plane you fly.You just shot in an shokaku class japanese aircraft carrier.But the video is really impressive but pls to make more sense logical and i really admire your work

It's all awesome but one nick pick, those are not US Carriers, its Japanese if I'm right Shōkaku class carriers so it's bit funny to me that Japanese aircraft attacks its own carrier

@@su-57stealthfighter73 Sōryuu looks like Shōkaku a fair bit except its smaller, much smaller
@@yakumoyukari4405 actually big difference, shokaku was a much heavier build, bow was only one deck below flight deck. Ship was equal to Essex class and proved to be tough.

It has grown on me a little but mainly there are no carriers or Naval warfare planes from the pacific in my other game, so I have to use War Thunder for awesome Pacific videos like this!

Its a good thing that the Japanese military didn't have an aircraft similar to Russia's Shturmovik!
Different theatre of war. IL2's dropped from the skies. Great plane if you have air superiority, not possible in a naval conflict.

Problem is the carrier attacked was Japanese as evidenced by the open bow of the ship below the flight deck.. Many IJN carriers were converted from other vessels. Japan developed wooden fins on their torpedoes that prevented them from dropping to the bottom of shallow Pearl Harbor.. They trained in a harbor in Japan similar to that in Hawaii..

excellent animation but I think those ships would have more, much more anti craft and planes to protect itself from bombers and that Japanese plane would have been on destroyed already, once hit, they were cheaply made and did not have self sealing fuel tanks like their American counterpart.
