Hi Kelli! 10 years of working with ophthalmologists here. Great job explaining things, though I'm really sorry to hear about your complications 💜💜💜
In case you wanted an answer about the other pupil being smaller: YES it can "overcompensate"! It's called a sympathetic pupillary response. When light is too bright they typically both shrink to restrict the light allowed within the eyes (or open larger in low light to allow more in to see better). Typically it only goes that small for a short time because they regulate the light together, but obviously that isn't able to be regulated currently, so your "good" eye pupil is constantly reacting to the excess light entering your dilated eye.
I enjoying learning how/why things work, and thought you might like that insight as well. Best of luck on your recovery, and take care of yourself however you need!!

Ohh thanks so much for explaining it! It really did seem like a huge difference with the one pupil super tiny haha!

    • @ChicagoChicago27
      @ChicagoChicago27 ปีที่แล้ว

Can I suggest you hold off on the other eye until this pupil constricts again? Also random, but you can get a pair of Walgreens readers and pop out the lens with the regular pupil and let the reading part help to the dilated pupil… oh +2.00 should do it…ophthalmology field for 20 years.

Sending good vibes for speedy healing. Vision issues are really scary for me personally, so I absolutely get the response to your complications. I'd probably still be freaking out! 🫣 Continue taking care of yourself and definitely treat yourself to an updated pair of glasses once your eyes are healed for the times your eyes need a contact break. 🤗

I love this channel because it feels like we aren't strangers. It is a false sense of familiarity but your imperfections make this channel what it is. If everything is perfect in videos by creators, I feel like it is hard to relate. I love both of your channels.

My retina detached last November and while the surgery went fine I had so many complications afterwards so I completely relate to how frustrating it is to deal with vision issues. I also lost peripheral sight on my outer side and have permanent double vision in that eye (and I had the lenses removed in both eyes at 15). It's a wild ride. Keep being patient with this stuff it really does take time to settle/adjust.

No kidding i would have a full blown panic attack. Just last night my right arm specifically concentrated on my elbow pinky and thumb it ached so much like growing pains but wayyy worse and i had no idea what to do so i called my mom at like 3 am. And vision loss is even more scary at least to me. Its one of my greatest fears along with limb loss. Which i mean i know ppl do have that happen to them and they adapt and are still capable but that would just crush me.

Hi Kelli! I also had laser eye surgery (to correct my vision, so totally not necessary) and I had a roller coaster of a recovery. The surgeon told me I would have “my best vision” At two weeks, in reality it was more like 6 weeks. I went through all the emotions thinking I had permanently messed up my vision. But in the end it all worked out and my vision is great, I still have issues seeing at night but overall my eyes healed wonderfully. I am confident that your eyes will do the same, it just takes time with them. I wish you all the best in your recovery 😊

It’s an unfortunate truth that most, if not all, of us will deal with big, derailing, major health problems at some point in our life at least once. At least. It’s just the fact of being human in a human body. The least we can do for each other is offer patience and sympathy ❤️ I’ve experienced that patience and sympathy in my experiences, and definitely have plenty to give to others in a similar situation. Just take the very best care of yourself that you can, and we’ll be here! ❤️ thanks for taking the time to update us, glad to hear you’re past the second procedure but so so sorry you’re having to deal with all of it.

Im so sorry to hear about the complications with your vision and i hope you get better soon. I had a retinal detachment in 2020 and had to get a scleral buckle put in for my left eye and had a lot of laser treatments for both eyes. I had a lot of the same complications as you with the blurred vision, light sensitivity, and loss of peripheral vision. It was a very difficult time but your videos really helped me and got me back into painting my nails. I couldn't read or play video games but i could see the pretty colors of the nail polish so I'd play your videos and paint along side you. As for the other stuff, it took me a few months to get back to pokemon and it took me 2 years to get back to reading, i just had to get used to seeing the words differently.
Now my sister is an absolute rock star she had the same surgery and same complications at a higher degree but she healed and is able to work around her blind spot as a hair dresser and shes about to make Master so she really showed me that i could work though this.
Sorry for the long comment but I hope you start feeling better soon, we're all here for you, and please take all the time you need to heal and adjust 😊❤

I feel for you so much with your eye stuff!!! For nail polish - I know Ryan doesn't want to be on camera, but would he consider just having his hand on camera by helping you swatch for a fun "my husband swatches my nails" video? I think that would be so cute if he was up for trying (it'd also be a great test of just how beginner friendly some of the formulas are, tbh!).
Also I am obsessed with your couch, that is so freaking cute!! And I relate to the annoyance of painting textured walls - when we moved into our place, we painted our kids' room and 10 years later... that's still the only room we've painted... oops. Admittedly part of the problem is that we're both very indecisive and it was really hard to pick colors for our bedroom, and we still keep waffling on the kitchen colors... but we painted stripes in the kids room, which was exhausting, so every time I think about painting again I just don't wanna! Ha. For awhile I campaigned to just hang fabric on our bedroom walls instead, but I think we're going to bite the bullet and get our room painted (dark purple!) the next time our kids spend a weekend with the grandparents.

So appreciate you talking about your health things. I know it's risky talking about health stuff, but people need to know about these things. I genetically predisposed to retinal detachment and so is my partner. We get our eye pressure checked and retina scanned every year to make sure we're still okay. Anytime we feel a change in our vision we get it checked out. I had a coworker have a retinal detachment in the middle of work, and he went to the hospital to get it fixed up immediately. Glad you took the time to rest up. So appreciate you getting some videos out, but stress levels make such a big difference in recovery, and that's most important long term!

I had a laser procedure on my eyes for glaucoma last summer. I listened to lots of podcasts after. My grandma had detached retinas several times, and my parents both had retinopathy, and Mom also had cataracts surgery. I have a blind spot on my right peripheral side, and I don't really notice it unless I'm trying to look for it. As long as you have a good eye doctor, and surgeon if necessary (Mom highly recommends her eye surgeon), then we all hope it goes well. Take your time with YT, and we want you healthy and happy.
My favorite sparkling waters are Waterloo (grape, orange vanilla, and pineapple are my favorites, but peach is surprisingly nice too) and Nixie.
I have a stainless steel liquid cleaner; dedicated cleaners really do make a difference.

It's OK to get emotional after surgery. Even if everything goes perfectly, it's still one of those life affirming things that causes feelings.
I had a myomectomy back in December that had some delayed complications that caused an ER visit... Long story short, I have liver damage & some other complications that caused me to no longer be able to eat solid foods. It's frustrating & emotional. Other than losing almost 20 lbs, I look healthy.

Hey Kelli, don't worry about the videos! We'll still be here when you're done to come back full-time. I totally understand the frustration with the doctor and healing time. I had a surgery in February, and the doctor told me it was easy peasy, I'll be up and running the same day, just some pain. But I was out for a week and a half, missed my own 30th birthday celebration, and was just miserable and crying the entire time (which also made the pain worse! Yay!). It is OK to feel down and cry about it, but it will eventually get better :)

I ALWAYS use kitchen gloves - both to protect my nails and keep my hands from becoming dry. I also use latex gloves for food prep! I buy what used to be Platex Gloves and I guess they were bought out by O-Cedar. I buy them in bundles on Amazon - they are good gloves!

Your like David Bowie! ❤️Highly recommend getting reader glasses. I don't have any eye conditions other than I'm super near sighted and I've been having issues seeing up close especially reading as I get older. My optometrist recommended readers starting at +1.00 to help. Now I have like half a dozen super cute readers I keep around the house so I can see up close without having to take my contacts out. ❤

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Health issues are the worst because everyone is different. Hang in there and keep us updated. We care about you. 💜 I love the idea of changing the new tower with the seasonal polish. I know you like to wear your polishes by the season, so I think it will really represent your manicure choices during that time. 💅😊

So glad to hear that you are at least relatively okay!!! I can empathize a bit with your eye situation just from the standpoint of my also relatively extreme nearsightedness. Hope you continue to heal well and that you’re as good as possible in no time!! ❤❤

Oh! Love the audiobook recommendation! I’ve always been leery of Stephen King as I cannot do horror. I’m pretty sure you’ve mentioned reading Sarah J Maas before, but her audio books are top notch too. Amazing narration. I hope your eye continues to improve!!

There is stainless steel cleaner! I remember using it back in the day when I worked in food service. Definitely works better than regular cleaners.

You cost me a ton of money! 😅😅😅
I bought all the orly and 4 from the Cirque collabs! 😅❤
    They're all amazing!!!
I'm really sorry for your eye problems, I hope it's all gonna end up fine at the end!!
I remember a thing I saw in a renovation TV show about textured walls, they used rollers with longer fibers.
I case you didn't already know, maybe ask the people at the paint store wich one for that kind of wall?
I really love the new tower! And the idea to change it by seasons!

It sounds like you've got a handle on it all and that is amazing! Get new glasses---lenses have improved SO much in the last 10 years (as have frame styles) that you'll really like what they can do for you. Plus, your eyes will get a chance to breathe (when not wearing contacts) and that's important. Excited to see how your bedroom project turns out too!

I’ve had three retinal detachments in my right eye. I’ve lost the majority of my peripheral vision and have some spots in my central vision are missing. My pupil was also damaged and stuck dilated. Get a really good pair of polarized sunglasses to help with brightness.

Kelli, I hope things get better soon for you. I know when I injured my eye (I had paper cut across my cornea) 😬 and I had to have one eye dilated a lot it sucked! My eye is better now but it took a long time to heal properly. I’m nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other so depth perception is an issue for me as well. Sending you well wishes.

I've had bilateral retinal detachments, and laser treatments to prevent the detachments. And I've had setbacks as well. My right pupil is stuck dilated since my retinal surgery. I understand what you are dealing with. Sending love and hugs.

Whenever I mess up a nail or dent one in a full mani, I leave it and the next day I fix just the one nail. If I try to fix it immediately I just mess up other nails and end up starting from scratch which takes so much longer!

Aww, I'm so sorry about your eye issues. 😔 hang in there, it's gonna be ok ❤ keep the faith! Sending healing vibes your way. David Bowie had one eye stuck dilated bc he got punched or something as a teenager. Makes me wonder if he lived with issues like you're having all his life or if his brain adjusted to it & idk.. made the good eye dominant or something. That would be annoying as all hell not being able to read 😖 also Omg that couch is the cutest thing ever!
