Kill team is not fine, kill team is amazing! It's got a neat set of rules, streamlined development and a small roster to budget around. Although some rules are a little messy, it's still got quite a good headstart and it has pretty deep potential. Not to mention the possibility of updating old models into plastic through kill team (Craftworld rumors) without affecting the 40k release schedule
Kill team is super boring for me. You roll 1 die and then roll it again, then it's like eh maybe something happens. Usually nothing happens. Then you repeat that process.

To my knowledge you roll simultaneously with all your shots/fights/defense and then you resolve the results depending on shooting/fighting, you don't roll consecutively usually so I’m asking out of curiosity, not meaning to challenge you
I started a spec ops league and went to a KT tourney so I've played a ton of games. I really like KT because it seems balanced. I know that I could play with any team and win. With full 40k there is defintly meta playing and power creep.
I've bought more GW stuff since KT came out than I have in the last 4-5 years combined. I love that if I want to play a faction its just one box now. And its mostly competitive.
I'm loving the new kill team. It's my go to game if I wanna play something 40k related during the work week. We generally just order food, play the game, have fun and be able to go to bed at a reasonable time, even though we play after work (does this mean we're getting old? ;p) . One thing I do find so very odd. Is the way how close combat works. I'd rather see it that the defender has to use it's first success as a parry. Because currently it's just smarter to not parry at all, and get some damage in. Because you're going to die anyhow. Balance wise... It's pretty balanced. I've noticed that some drukhari guns (my main opponent) are very strong. AP is huge. I tried out a few of the space marine fire teams. And well, the tactical squads are the best imho. Intercessors just miss the special weapons. Heavy intercessors currently miss the APL to actually be usefull. I'd rather see them have 3apl and one circle less movement. Assault intercessors are pretty decent and can use some scary tactics. in it's current state, it's a 8/10 game for sure. Decently balanced out of the box. Generally fun rules. And it does encourage customizing models with special gear, which in a hobby perspective is awesome!
Kill Team is pretty awesome. It is keeping me engaged in the 40k setting since the main game isn't as fun. The main 40k game needs a big time overhaul both with how it plays and living codex books so that no faction gets left behind for half a decade. ALso my attention span for painting is short. Painting a kill team sized unit is about as much as I want to do at once (basically the size of 1 model kit). So with KT I have been getting boxes from all sorts of factions and really expanding my painting prowess.
Yep kill team is very friendly to those married with kids and a fulltime job and its why I prefer it over full size 40k, I ain't got time for that anymore.
This version of Kill Team feels so fresh and fantastic. It feels like what 40 K should have been at a much larger scale but GW can’t seem to get 40 K down as good as they can with a specialist game like kill team.
I played a game with friend. (Haven’t bought the rules/models yet, so it was nice of him.) Though I do plan on getting the Chalnath set. The only thing I “dislike” about new killteam, is that I can’t run units that were included in the Elites rule book. HOWEVER, it would be hard to test out some personal rules for units such as Xv-8 crisis suits, or vanguard veterans with jump packs. But the rules support the themes of each factions units BETTER in the new KillTeam (Space marines a prime example), that is undeniable in my opinion.
I just didn't like the rules at first glance and couldn't use my old killteams, so I paid $5 for the One Page Rules book for Grimdark Future: Firefight. The new killteams seems fine, but I highly suggest trying one page games if you like skirmish games. The base rules are free but expanded rulesets with custom units and more missions are on their Patreon.
Playing myself with sisters in KT. Want crazy story? :D Custodes (19Wounds model), first turn comes close to my sisters ready to wreck havoc in next turns. Single sister with bolter charge in (MADNESS?!) .. but she do not fight - was funny watching oponent not really sure what I was going for. Just blocking overwatch? In my next activation Repentia charge in and "the magic happens". Repentia has 4 attacks on 4+, but because the bolter sister supports, she hits now on 3+. That let me score all 4 hits. - Repentia hit's for 6DMG (crit). - barely survives hit from custodes - she hits again for 5DMG - Custo hits and .. I call Divine Intervention for 1CP and ignore all damage from single dice - she hits for another 5 dmg. - ofc she dies, to custo at 3 HP - but that's not over... for another 1CP I call Penance Through Death - when dying Repentia roll one more attack dice.. she hits.. Custodes dies! - Turn one in single combat :D (I lost game ofc)
Imagine if GW re-deployed their lawyers from chasing fan content, to nailing down the rules so less fixing and changing is needed after release. C'mon, these guys are pros, and expert in their stuff, so it amazes me that so much fixing of their rules is needed.
Haven't played Kill Team but the game looks good and the reviews I've seen have been positive. Can't see myself getting it as I'm happy playing 'Stargrave', 'Star Breach' and 'Five Parsecs from Home' but I love watching Kill Team battle reports.
I'd like to do KT21; looks promising and I have some models I can use. But the big boxes don't scratch my itch and the price is eye-watering, so I ordered the Deadzone 3E starter set which might scratch the same itch. Plus I can use the models and terrain for Stargrave too!
I remember staring at those boxes in awe. Could never afford them, despite how people whine the game was relatively the same cost (accounting for inflation). They were totally unattainable and gorgeous. Might as well have been the Mona Lisa.
The price discussion is in much of it's extremes a moot one. As you say, Accounting for Inflation, the prices didn't move much. Sure the pricing seems Off at Times, which is a different beast. Midwinter Minis die a great Video in the topic and Made an actual one on one comparison of Units from 1993 and 2019 I believe. It's a luxury Hobby. Always was.hoe I know? When I was poor, I couldn't afford anything close to getting an army. Now I'm Not poor anymore, I can. Discussion about prices for Things absolutely not for poor ( real poor, not perceived poor...yes, there is a difference) is a bit Strange to me. Either I want to afford it or Not and before crying "price increase of Death, those greedy Bastards" I May want to Check facts a Bit. That does Not mean, that GW has Not ridiculously priced products, they sure have, interestingly enough it's moslty not their Miniatures or rulebooks. Played my first match last week Vet IG vs Tzeench Demons and it was a lot of fun! It felt fast paced and the rules allowed for some pretty epic roll offs. I lost by points but my opponent and I only had two models left on the board by turn 4. Highlight for me was my sniper roosted on top of a building one shot the demon leader from across the map. Then two blue horrors spawned, climbed up the building and tore him to shreds lol
Oooh in one of my games of Vet IG vs Death Guard there was a moment where the Melee Specialist with a cleaver climbed up the side of a wall to swing into my leader. The Plague Marine got the cleaver in and left my Leader with one wound and in retaliation he stuck the Plague Marine with his bayonet finishing them off... Before the Plague Marine blew up with a mix of pus and decay slaughtering my Leader and a nearby Medic.
I hear ya! Its also nice having a small for to paint that you can put some extra effort into and not have to worry about painting 3423434 tyranids etc.
If you want a cheap Kill Team that offers a ton of options, join the Deathwatch and purge some Xenos. They have a lot of options for weaponry and each role in the Fire Team is completely unique. Everything comes in a single box as well.
God the art on the boxes for warhammer fantasy..... i kept those things for ages! They're what got me to try out warhammer (I'd always been exclusively into LotR)! That nightgoblin artwork is still iconic.
I have a full metal Karl Franz, requires work to close it's gaps and restore some little bits, not to mention limb re-positioning. But all in good time!
I love Killteam. Though I've not done the new version yet. The old one was frustrating as my mate who I most often play against wipes the floor with me every time. His marines are super basic but doesn't matter what I use, Necrons, Guard, Eldar. He devastates me every time. I finally beat him with a very swiftly put together Tau Killteam and that feeling of finally winning was incredible. But I still enjoyed the game even though I always lost. If this new version can help balance the game better and maybe I could win a little more often then excellent. But even as it was, it was a great game
Now Tau in KT are strong, you coud wipe him and his SM coz they are weaker than Tau. Mostly thanks to lower body count and not so mamy special rules on datasheets. SM may be trikier to play.

I’ve been immersed in the 40k world since the early 90’s and I have to say, this new Kill Team game system is probably the best they’ve ever built. Such a smooth and intuitive experience. Everything clicks, games are engaging, quick and very balanced. I’m hooked. Anyone bashing the game has likely not played it or feeling seriously threatened by it. My big 40k group is all starting to lean towards kill team now.
I think now after so many weeks we the youtube audience have changed what we say asking "how" to you jay we are saying Yep Jay is comming up with great interesting content every week and has lots to say "We Salute you" 👍👍👍
In my first game of Kill Team, my 12 Kroot Carnivores ate 5 Assault Marines (I don't remember what the Primaris name for them is now). It felt like that story from the 3rd edition Tau codex where a group of Kroot ambush and eat some Eldar Rangers. Kill Team is awesome.
Death Guard have the same damage shrug rule on all their units. It was funny when my Plasma Gunner survived 24 damage to the face going from 9 wounds to 1. My pal and I both laughed but he was a bit more pissed about it.

I like Kill Team! Thank you for sticking up for me!! It's a cheap and effective way to collect. Instead of 2,000 points per faction I can buy a few models and feel included!!

The new edition of Kill Team is THE BEST ruleset and game that GW has produced in years. It’s fast become my main game. Me and my local gaming community are loving it. So much of the salt online is clearly from people who haven’t even played it.
the part of points, i disagree, because buying equipament, kitbash your kill team, i do prefer that, and me and my club is preffering to either stay in the old kill team, or using the grimdark future firefight.
The team building changes will make it easier for people to figure out what they need. If you're doing the same 40k army then the combat patrol and start collecting boxes represent good value. Once you have the rules, which if you're playing as a group you can spread the cost of, you can get started really cheap it you just start with space marines as the intercessors and assault intercessors are ridiculously easy to find and get rather cheap, similar for some of the other factions if you get second hand models probably. The previous Cherry picking method was just dumb and not very well thought out I thought. Gw gets a win too as they will more likely be able to shift the combat patrol and start collecting boxes and or the regular troops boxes. Hopefully we don't end up with things like elites and commanders type expansions and rather get well designed kill team teams instead building off the troops options and maybe introduce a few that are not really part of a faction like the rogue traders. Remember too that outside of gw stores and tournaments there's nothing stopping groups sticking with KT2018 rules, same for all of the games if you have the rules you could play 2nd edition 40k if you wanted!
I'm going to be completely biased because the two armies I'm focusing on are Admech and Thousand Sons, and both of those factions have gotten unique and interesting rules in two copies of White Dwarf, but I'm really loving the concept of Kill Team. Frankly what I think we're going to see, is a bunch of rules coming out for various Kill Teams in the various issues of White Dwarf, only for us to get them all reprinted in a Compendium every so often, and I'm actually pretty fine with that. I mean it could be better, with the current Compendium being a free pdf stopgap and not like a $45 book, but eh.
For me the coming up with team roster, Their backstories, Picking the model parts, Kitbashing and converting them and painting them to the best of my (not stellar) ability is the best part of Killteam. It's also a lot easier on the wallet to collect 5 - 10 models plus bits off of ebay.
I will say, I've been looking for a skirmish game to go with Legion and was looking at Kill Team '21 but the investment is pretty big and I have some reservations. I then discovered Deadzone by Mantic and it seems like it's more my speed. Easy rules, easy terrain, quick to play, cheaper, all things I'd like a smaller game to be. The mini's might not be exactly GW quality, but they look good and I'm into it. Maybe something to look into.
Just gonna leave my 2 cents here; I like how different the stories/lore of the marines and how they are on the table. I always felt that the stories and books and other media are simply imperial propaganda, making the marines larger than life, while the table is how they REALLY are compared to the other factions.
I feel the same way about the box art the illustrated kind drew your attention a lot more if you wanted to know what the contents were all you had to do was flip it round, and as for Tyranid box art I still have that exact battle force box that your on about safely housing my unbuilt nids
While I have no desire to play Killteam I do love hearing people talk about it and watching it being played. My major hang up is there are so many awesome models that limiting my self to a handful just would be impossible to me, another is as far as 40k goes my favorite models are my Night Lords and there are no options to play as my raptors or warp talons. I collect the sisters as they are what first got me into 40k to begin with and I loved hearing about your experience with your Repentia! I can't wait to see you paint some regular battle sisters! It's a slippery slope though as next you'll want to do some retributors , then maybe some seraphim, and you'll end up doing the Nundams 🙂

I had a question about the index scions list. Do I field 10 scions in total as 2 five man rosters or just one? I got the octarius box and set up the krieg team.
it is two 5 man scion fire teams BUT your kill team may only include one of each operative (besides normal scions) and you can take only one leader. so you can take up to two gunners in each fire team so in total up to 4 gunners in your kill team but you cannot double up any one weapon, so no 4 plasmas, you can take one plasma and three other special weapons.
I played my first kill team match on Thursday! Oh my god its fun! Oh my god what the hell is going on with the cover rules. Make a video about it jay, thatd be a fun 50 minute video!
About them Space Marines, few weeks ago I had an intro KT game with one member of not-so-local (for me, 50km's) community. Imperial Fist Intercessor Fire Team against some Rubric Marines with Tzangors. Situation looked like this: my opponent said "and now I will shoot, and I count for three crits to one-shot your (full health) marine!" Then, by the power of Tzeench, he rolled those three 6's and shouted "A-ha! One shot as I said!". But that one SM was still on 1 wound ;] Was double tapped with shoot twice ploy but still, my opponent lost one cp :)
Tough to watch this after I played 4 games trying different factions (not the way to do it) against my friend's 10 Sisters of Battle, Battle Sisters. I lost every fight. I used 10 genestealers, Brood Coven, 6 Traitor Marines, and Grey knights... Nothing worked for me against meltagun spam. However, I do agree that the game is really good! The fact that he switched a few guns and all his equipment for each opponent was awesome 😎. His first ever models too so a great beginner war game. Love the content Jay!!!
Totally agree with you. So glad I didn't play the last version, it sounds so broken. Played my first full match play against my 9yr old son today. He lost (obviously) he was playing commandos I had the Kriegers. We both cocked up stuff end score was 7-1. Loved it and so did he. Debrief after he knew what he did wrong and he's 9. This to me demonstrates the balance aspect. There were some crazy rolls on both sides which again was great hands on face fall on the floor scramble for rules moments, how can I save this dude or how can I squeeze an extra wound out of these rolls because I'm not leaving that fucker on 1 wound.
I understand veteran players having issues with KT as a concept / how it’s laid out now. I understand. But as someone who wouldn’t have ever bought into this hobby until these changes that have made it both more streamlined and affordable I love KT
I do feel like there's a lot of issues with Kill Team, but most of that comes with the business model of the game. The core gameplay is good, and GW have clearly lifted from a lot of great, contemporary skirmish games which is totally welcome!
The community at the moment is mostly concerned with trashing GW no matter what. To be fair, GW has kinda earned it but it's getting a little unreasonable.
I think you might have hit the nail on the head here. I mean look what they did with Cursed City. There seems to lots of obvious points where the community know roughly what they want but GW isn't listening. Or at least that's my take.
My kill team list is illegal now. And I don't want to buy e ntire boxs , just to play with a single squad where the only upgrade or special rule is a plasma on the Sgt.

I'm playing tyranids mostly, and while, yeah, listbuilding has some issues (like you MUST take warriors fireteam, if you want to have a decent chance of winning), but profiles... In the lore generic hormogaunt described as ferocious berserk organism, that just slashes and eats it's way trough people, and can give some problems even to a space marine. But in Big 40k 30-man unit of gaunts can barely kill 10-man unit of imperial guard. And in kill team if you charge one gaunt into a guardsmen, you can be sure, that this guardsmen is probably dead. Yes, he will beat up the gaunt, but still. Same with warriors. In big 40k they just used to absorb some shots, and that's it. In killteam, narrative you can have that the warrior deals 7!!! damage on a crit. Enough to kill any human being outright.
You are so close to the problem that I see appearing in the community. I don't believe it's originating from the fan base. There is content creators (not targeting only youtube) that are riding the algorithm a bit too much lately. Doing huge uproar on insignificant subjects. Provocative titles just to get views, etc... We still have people with extremely valid critics, and I honestly love critics that bring solutions or idea to solve the problems. I still play Dreadfleet with customs rules because of them. The problem is when you see those critics that doesn't present solutions, that doesn't talk about the paint and the models, and that seem to focus only on uproar/drama for views. It's sad, I feel that we are loosing members of the community, because of that, and it does get tired some. On this: Thanks for always having something to say hahaha
I kinda wanna try it but the pay wall on the rules is nuts. Just let me buy cheap pdf's GW! I've otherwise been playing a lot of Firefight and Grim Dark Future and those games are super fun.
I haven't been able to try out Kill team yet because no one is playing it in my area, which is pretty concerning for such a new game. I really think GWs lack of transparency coupled with harsh reviews of the compendium by trusted sources (such as many of your fellow content creators) really turned a lot if people away from the game. That some people are holding out for a specialized version of their army is just silly, the compendium has full rules for nearly every army and should not be dismissed whether or not GW is going to come out with a second kill team for your favorite army 6 months from now or not.
have played a few games of the new kill team with a friend. Her Tau have beaten the crap out of my Marines just as often as i have beaten the crap out of her Tau. We both have had fun with it
I really like the new edition of lots of fun, it’s fast paced and it’s easy. I can play it at university with no issues compared to 40K which would be a pain in the ass
Could honestly be a typo they decided to keep in for the few gamers who would actually buy a whole box for the one model. The compendium is full of typos so I wouldn't be surprised
Speaking as folks who ALSO are quite fond of the new Kill Team, something we say a lot is that people who are complain online aren't really playing the game. KT is great and a massive upgrade from the original's overbloated mess. Thanks for the vid, keep up the good vibes!

Imagine if GW re-deployed their lawyers from chasing fan content, to nailing down the rules so less fixing and changing is needed after release.
C'mon, these guys are pros, and expert in their stuff, so it amazes me that so much fixing of their rules is needed.

Haven't played Kill Team but the game looks good and the reviews I've seen have been positive. Can't see myself getting it as I'm happy playing 'Stargrave', 'Star Breach' and 'Five Parsecs from Home' but I love watching Kill Team battle reports.
I'd like to do KT21; looks promising and I have some models I can use. But the big boxes don't scratch my itch and the price is eye-watering, so I ordered the Deadzone 3E starter set which might scratch the same itch. Plus I can use the models and terrain for Stargrave too!
Jay, have you considered sending your eyebrows to obedience school? It can do a lot of good for eyebrows that are always jumping up on people
I remember staring at those boxes in awe. Could never afford them, despite how people whine the game was relatively the same cost (accounting for inflation). They were totally unattainable and gorgeous. Might as well have been the Mona Lisa.
The price discussion is in much of it's extremes a moot one. As you say, Accounting for Inflation, the prices didn't move much. Sure the pricing seems Off at Times, which is a different beast. Midwinter Minis die a great Video in the topic and Made an actual one on one comparison of Units from 1993 and 2019 I believe.
It's a luxury Hobby. Always was.hoe I know? When I was poor, I couldn't afford anything close to getting an army. Now I'm Not poor anymore, I can. Discussion about prices for Things absolutely not for poor ( real poor, not perceived poor...yes, there is a difference) is a bit Strange to me. Either I want to afford it or Not and before crying "price increase of Death, those greedy Bastards" I May want to Check facts a Bit. That does Not mean, that GW has Not ridiculously priced products, they sure have, interestingly enough it's moslty not their Miniatures or rulebooks. Played my first match last week Vet IG vs Tzeench Demons and it was a lot of fun! It felt fast paced and the rules allowed for some pretty epic roll offs.
I lost by points but my opponent and I only had two models left on the board by turn 4. Highlight for me was my sniper roosted on top of a building one shot the demon leader from across the map. Then two blue horrors spawned, climbed up the building and tore him to shreds lol
Oooh in one of my games of Vet IG vs Death Guard there was a moment where the Melee Specialist with a cleaver climbed up the side of a wall to swing into my leader. The Plague Marine got the cleaver in and left my Leader with one wound and in retaliation he stuck the Plague Marine with his bayonet finishing them off... Before the Plague Marine blew up with a mix of pus and decay slaughtering my Leader and a nearby Medic.
Not gunna lie, sometimes i forget theirs an entire game attached to these funky little miniatures that i paint

If you want a cheap Kill Team that offers a ton of options, join the Deathwatch and purge some Xenos. They have a lot of options for weaponry and each role in the Fire Team is completely unique. Everything comes in a single box as well.

I have a kroot force for killteam.,.. still painting atm but adding more for different options and with that i'm fully converting each model
God the art on the boxes for warhammer fantasy..... i kept those things for ages! They're what got me to try out warhammer (I'd always been exclusively into LotR)! That nightgoblin artwork is still iconic.
I have a full metal Karl Franz, requires work to close it's gaps and restore some little bits, not to mention limb re-positioning.
But all in good time!

I love Killteam. Though I've not done the new version yet. The old one was frustrating as my mate who I most often play against wipes the floor with me every time. His marines are super basic but doesn't matter what I use, Necrons, Guard, Eldar. He devastates me every time. I finally beat him with a very swiftly put together Tau Killteam and that feeling of finally winning was incredible. But I still enjoyed the game even though I always lost. If this new version can help balance the game better and maybe I could win a little more often then excellent. But even as it was, it was a great game
Now Tau in KT are strong, you coud wipe him and his SM coz they are weaker than Tau. Mostly thanks to lower body count and not so mamy special rules on datasheets.
SM may be trikier to play.
I love kill team. So fun, games are quicker, and feel more like a real fire fight.

I’ve been immersed in the 40k world since the early 90’s and I have to say, this new Kill Team game system is probably the best they’ve ever built. Such a smooth and intuitive experience. Everything clicks, games are engaging, quick and very balanced. I’m hooked. Anyone bashing the game has likely not played it or feeling seriously threatened by it. My big 40k group is all starting to lean towards kill team now.

In my first game of Kill Team, my 12 Kroot Carnivores ate 5 Assault Marines (I don't remember what the Primaris name for them is now). It felt like that story from the 3rd edition Tau codex where a group of Kroot ambush and eat some Eldar Rangers. Kill Team is awesome.

Death Guard have the same damage shrug rule on all their units. It was funny when my Plasma Gunner survived 24 damage to the face going from 9 wounds to 1. My pal and I both laughed but he was a bit more pissed about it.
I love Kill Team, I don't get how 40k players can hate it.

The new edition of Kill Team is THE BEST ruleset and game that GW has produced in years. It’s fast become my main game. Me and my local gaming community are loving it. So much of the salt online is clearly from people who haven’t even played it.
Scented candles make perfect sense, ork logic is 40k logic
the part of points, i disagree, because buying equipament, kitbash your kill team, i do prefer that, and me and my club is preffering to either stay in the old kill team, or using the grimdark future firefight.
The team building changes will make it easier for people to figure out what they need. If you're doing the same 40k army then the combat patrol and start collecting boxes represent good value. Once you have the rules, which if you're playing as a group you can spread the cost of, you can get started really cheap it you just start with space marines as the intercessors and assault intercessors are ridiculously easy to find and get rather cheap, similar for some of the other factions if you get second hand models probably.
The previous Cherry picking method was just dumb and not very well thought out I thought.
Gw gets a win too as they will more likely be able to shift the combat patrol and start collecting boxes and or the regular troops boxes.
Hopefully we don't end up with things like elites and commanders type expansions and rather get well designed kill team teams instead building off the troops options and maybe introduce a few that are not really part of a faction like the rogue traders.
Remember too that outside of gw stores and tournaments there's nothing stopping groups sticking with KT2018 rules, same for all of the games if you have the rules you could play 2nd edition 40k if you wanted!
I'm going to be completely biased because the two armies I'm focusing on are Admech and Thousand Sons, and both of those factions have gotten unique and interesting rules in two copies of White Dwarf, but I'm really loving the concept of Kill Team.
Frankly what I think we're going to see, is a bunch of rules coming out for various Kill Teams in the various issues of White Dwarf, only for us to get them all reprinted in a Compendium every so often, and I'm actually pretty fine with that. I mean it could be better, with the current Compendium being a free pdf stopgap and not like a $45 book, but eh.

For me the coming up with team roster, Their backstories, Picking the model parts, Kitbashing and converting them and painting them to the best of my (not stellar) ability is the best part of Killteam. It's also a lot easier on the wallet to collect 5 - 10 models plus bits off of ebay.

I will say, I've been looking for a skirmish game to go with Legion and was looking at Kill Team '21 but the investment is pretty big and I have some reservations. I then discovered Deadzone by Mantic and it seems like it's more my speed. Easy rules, easy terrain, quick to play, cheaper, all things I'd like a smaller game to be. The mini's might not be exactly GW quality, but they look good and I'm into it. Maybe something to look into.
Just gonna leave my 2 cents here; I like how different the stories/lore of the marines and how they are on the table. I always felt that the stories and books and other media are simply imperial propaganda, making the marines larger than life, while the table is how they REALLY are compared to the other factions.

I feel the same way about the box art the illustrated kind drew your attention a lot more if you wanted to know what the contents were all you had to do was flip it round, and as for Tyranid box art I still have that exact battle force box that your on about safely housing my unbuilt nids
Man, I 100% agree with you about your feelings towards new KT. I''m loving it as well.
While I have no desire to play Killteam I do love hearing people talk about it and watching it being played. My major hang up is there are so many awesome models that limiting my self to a handful just would be impossible to me, another is as far as 40k goes my favorite models are my Night Lords and there are no options to play as my raptors or warp talons.
I collect the sisters as they are what first got me into 40k to begin with and I loved hearing about your experience with your Repentia! I can't wait to see you paint some regular battle sisters! It's a slippery slope though as next you'll want to do some retributors , then maybe some seraphim, and you'll end up doing the Nundams 🙂

I had a question about the index scions list. Do I field 10 scions in total as 2 five man rosters or just one? I got the octarius box and set up the krieg team.
it is two 5 man scion fire teams BUT your kill team may only include one of each operative (besides normal scions) and you can take only one leader. so you can take up to two gunners in each fire team so in total up to 4 gunners in your kill team but you cannot double up any one weapon, so no 4 plasmas, you can take one plasma and three other special weapons.

About them Space Marines, few weeks ago I had an intro KT game with one member of not-so-local (for me, 50km's) community. Imperial Fist Intercessor Fire Team against some Rubric Marines with Tzangors.
Situation looked like this: my opponent said "and now I will shoot, and I count for three crits to one-shot your (full health) marine!"
Then, by the power of Tzeench, he rolled those three 6's and shouted "A-ha! One shot as I said!".
But that one SM was still on 1 wound ;] Was double tapped with shoot twice ploy but still, my opponent lost one cp :)
Tough to watch this after I played 4 games trying different factions (not the way to do it) against my friend's 10 Sisters of Battle, Battle Sisters. I lost every fight. I used 10 genestealers, Brood Coven, 6 Traitor Marines, and Grey knights... Nothing worked for me against meltagun spam. However, I do agree that the game is really good! The fact that he switched a few guns and all his equipment for each opponent was awesome 😎. His first ever models too so a great beginner war game. Love the content Jay!!!
Totally agree with you. So glad I didn't play the last version, it sounds so broken. Played my first full match play against my 9yr old son today. He lost (obviously) he was playing commandos I had the Kriegers. We both cocked up stuff end score was 7-1. Loved it and so did he. Debrief after he knew what he did wrong and he's 9. This to me demonstrates the balance aspect. There were some crazy rolls on both sides which again was great hands on face fall on the floor scramble for rules moments, how can I save this dude or how can I squeeze an extra wound out of these rolls because I'm not leaving that fucker on 1 wound.
I understand veteran players having issues with KT as a concept / how it’s laid out now. I understand. But as someone who wouldn’t have ever bought into this hobby until these changes that have made it both more streamlined and affordable I love KT

I do feel like there's a lot of issues with Kill Team, but most of that comes with the business model of the game. The core gameplay is good, and GW have clearly lifted from a lot of great, contemporary skirmish games which is totally welcome!

I think you might have hit the nail on the head here. I mean look what they did with Cursed City. There seems to lots of obvious points where the community know roughly what they want but GW isn't listening. Or at least that's my take.
My kill team list is illegal now. And I don't want to buy e ntire boxs , just to play with a single squad where the only upgrade or special rule is a plasma on the Sgt.

I'm playing tyranids mostly, and while, yeah, listbuilding has some issues (like you MUST take warriors fireteam, if you want to have a decent chance of winning), but profiles... In the lore generic hormogaunt described as ferocious berserk organism, that just slashes and eats it's way trough people, and can give some problems even to a space marine. But in Big 40k 30-man unit of gaunts can barely kill 10-man unit of imperial guard.
And in kill team if you charge one gaunt into a guardsmen, you can be sure, that this guardsmen is probably dead. Yes, he will beat up the gaunt, but still.
Same with warriors. In big 40k they just used to absorb some shots, and that's it. In killteam, narrative you can have that the warrior deals 7!!! damage on a crit. Enough to kill any human being outright.
You are so close to the problem that I see appearing in the community.
I don't believe it's originating from the fan base. There is content creators (not targeting only youtube) that are riding the algorithm a bit too much lately. Doing huge uproar on insignificant subjects. Provocative titles just to get views, etc...
We still have people with extremely valid critics, and I honestly love critics that bring solutions or idea to solve the problems. I still play Dreadfleet with customs rules because of them.
The problem is when you see those critics that doesn't present solutions, that doesn't talk about the paint and the models, and that seem to focus only on uproar/drama for views.
It's sad, I feel that we are loosing members of the community, because of that, and it does get tired some.

I haven't been able to try out Kill team yet because no one is playing it in my area, which is pretty concerning for such a new game.
I really think GWs lack of transparency coupled with harsh reviews of the compendium by trusted sources (such as many of your fellow content creators) really turned a lot if people away from the game. That some people are holding out for a specialized version of their army is just silly, the compendium has full rules for nearly every army and should not be dismissed whether or not GW is going to come out with a second kill team for your favorite army 6 months from now or not.
have played a few games of the new kill team with a friend. Her Tau have beaten the crap out of my Marines just as often as i have beaten the crap out of her Tau. We both have had fun with it
I really like the new edition of lots of fun, it’s fast paced and it’s easy. I can play it at university with no issues compared to 40K which would be a pain in the ass

Kill team is mean, I had a box of Harlequin troupe to play kill team 1.0 and now in 2.0 I need 7 models, but the box only comes with 6.
yah... I saw that, when I build my harlequin team I might go with a Shadowseer or Solitaire as my 7th model.
Could honestly be a typo they decided to keep in for the few gamers who would actually buy a whole box for the one model.
The compendium is full of typos so I wouldn't be surprised
Speaking as folks who ALSO are quite fond of the new Kill Team, something we say a lot is that people who are complain online aren't really playing the game. KT is great and a massive upgrade from the original's overbloated mess.
