The sound relationship with the onboard footage is so much fun to watch! At 13:50 you can hear the 66 Ford go through, and then the Corvette, Ford and BMW that the cam is on.
Man, even official racing teams are ricing out their cars with light strips these days, where does it end!?!?!? Seriously though, I like that IMSA is allowing teams to be creative with LED id lighting, hope to see that trend with more series.
uwlwsrpm You do realise it's to make identifying the cars at night effortless right? They covered this in Part 1. Different lights mean different class, the more obvious the colour the easier it is to identify.
I already know about the different colored number lights, they've been doing that for years, I'm talking about the additional led strips that teams put on the pillars, fins, and grilles.
Racing Inspired = IMSA Cosmetic = LED Lights Enhancement = Looks good/Helps cars look unique for ID I thought it would be obvious I meant the rice statement as a joke but it seems like I triggered some folks.
caddy high level for other prototypes because in the race they are 3 seconds more fast for others P2 less the rebellion but caddy is 1 second more fast this swiss car.....this right is test everyone and do balance of performance judge for race times in this season for next season.....i see scenes in the next pages but i think caddy with dominator car in the class obvious
Porsche 911:3 puncture ,2 penalties ,2laps down ,30 minutes later first of the GTLM group! I really don't understand the american rules ! I'm a fan of the Porsche team but this is unfair for the over teams
IMSA competition is closer compared to WEC. So they give them more opportunities to get their laps back with Safety Cars to bunch the field back up (where in WEC most accidents would only use FCY) and waive arounds during safety car periods
This IMSA series needs Virtual Safety Car to replace normal safety car. How many times that #66 Ford lost their lead because of incidents? Imagine you build 20 sec lead. Boom. SC. Green. 15 sec lead. Boom. SC ... again again and again. How drivers are even motivated to carry on?
if you were making 500 horsepower out of a 3.2 liter v6, it would howl and scream as well, however mostly it has to do with the balance of the car that determined the layout of the exhaust which as a big influence upon the audible noise the car makes. if they ran straight piped exhaust out to where the production cars exhaust is (at the back of the tear drop under the middle of the spoiler) it would have the whistle of the production v6, due to the fact that they are the same engine but one has FIA restrictions on the hp output so there are additional add-ons to the motor that make it sound more groggy in comparison to the 2017 road going gt's.
Thank you IMSA for uploading all races!

Thanks IMSA!!
thanks for the Rolex 24 vids
Those blinking LED tail lights are blinding me watching the race, can't imagine how bad it would be for the drivers....
It's the Video blinking the drivers don't see that. Have you ever been to a race.
David Starner no you are right David. During rain conditions they do have their brake lights flashing.

1:54:23 where John talks about exactly how banked daytona is ; I had corrected John on twitter about that
I'm surpriused to see how much water is in the prototype cockpits. At one point the #10 had a ton of water slushing around
what is that noise that comes and goes when in car the ford GT? aux vacuum booster?
Parker Brooks either a supercharger or a turbocharger
anti lag in the turbo's.
When they shift? It's also there in the Audi's. the long buzz?
3 years later, but it was the air compressor filling back up, the paddle shifters are pneumatic
1:13 Facepalming at the Frozen pun....

Single car on the lead lap?! 1:53:18

whats unfair is the american built Prototypes and Ford GT's still have a substantial BOP advantage over all other cars

I don't think it would work at places like Daytona. Other places maybe
subbed
1:15:05 These guys 😂
What's the point of that PC class, small field, boring, and old.
There was like 10 cars or so last year. It was pretty competitive at the time. I believe this may be the last year for them though.
yeah, they will be removed nest year
fingerprints no pc next year
No pc for 2018
fingerprints it shrunk, and it was removed for 2018, but it did produce really good racing in its heyday
ford gt's sound like garbage.

Shado902 the Corvette sounds better than the Ford's
