I'm with Trump. Why should we the United States foot almost all the military aid. Europe should be footing the brunt of financial support. If your not paying your share then you shouldn't be supported by NATO
I partially agree with you. Obviously, Europe must do their part in financing NATO, as well as strengthening their individual defense capabilities. Trump did spur some NATO member countries to start increasing their percentage of GDP spending. However, if the US were to pull out of the alliance, it would not only weaken NATO countries' overall defense capabilities, but weaken ours in the US as well. Putin knows that he cannot defeat NATO's combined strength, but that is necessarily combined with the US. The most effective deterrent to Soviet/Russian aggression for the last 75 years has been NATO, with the US as a strong, reliable partner. Putin is always looking for a weakness to exploit, which he has attempted to do in Ukraine. Seeing weak responses to his invasion of Georgia, and his initial invasion of Ukraine in 2014, he thought the "west" would do nothing substantial when he fully invaded in Feb. 2022. The bully in the neighborhood needs to clearly understand that we will vigorously defend our interests and our way of life. And be sure, China and other dictatorships around the world are watching intently. They should have no doubt that we really do mean what we say.
