In the first episode of Munchies Guide to Oaxaca, host Daniel Hernandez dives right into the belly of Oaxacan food by starting his visit at the Mercado 20 de Noviembre, one of the old-school markets in the historic center of Oaxaca City. Here, he samples local fare like tejate, chilacayote, tasajo, andchapulines, Oaxaca's famous toasted grasshoppers. Since everyone needs a recharge, Daniel then visits a classic Oaxaca City cantina called El Chato, and has the house special, a Mexican lager in a salted, lime-crusted glass. Later that night, he dines with chef Alejandro Ruiz, at the temple of contemporary Oaxaca cuisine, Casa Oaxaca.

The nostalgia of having to arrive to the Oaxaca airport, get picked up by your grandparents and having to pig out at the centro with the stands is real. Damn it, now I miss Oaxaca.
Same
Going there in a month 😁😁😁
i wanna do that
I hope youre been able to go back, my family is from Oaxaca and heading back for a stay this summer
Dam it was nice to see every single Mexican talk so proudly of their food 😭💓
6:40 thats soo true people get too hyped up on themselves being called a "culinary expert".this guy is a true OG for food .
"The corn should shine, not the chef."
yeah but these natives don't ever get hyped up in the first place like white people do so we really should only be encouraging them to hype themselves up
God, I love Mexican food. I'm a Canadian of Scottish heritage and it's my favourite cuisine!
Ozzdoc what is Scottish food

Even though there are many more things to show about Oaxaca I liked the video, and I agree,Munchis guide to the rest of the states in Mexico, our gastronomy is so rich and needs to be shared.
Dude that panda that little girl handed him at the beginning of the episode is a blessing.
This host is exceptionally chill. I really liked this video and really want to try these foods and experience that part of Mexico.

Best place in Mexico hands down. Food is amazing and the festivals are one of a kind.

Good stuff. Yall really have plenty of material to explore in Mexico. Please keep it coming, I would like to see munchies based in all the states or regions.
my entire family is from Oaxaca, and my brothers went there last summer and said the food was AMAZING. They said even the WATER was better-it came from a ground well. It's certainly a beautiful state-from beaches to cities to farmland.
It really is the water is so fresh even though we get it from the hose and store it, but if you go to a water reserve or something like that the water is 10x better
Where do you get the groundwater 🥵🥰
I went to mexico as a young kid and young teenager with my family and stayed there fro about a month each time. Oaxaca was our base while we travelled around the southern and central part of mexico and it became like home to me while I was there. Great town. Casa arnel was the hotel we stayed at.
One day I will visit Oaxaca and taste all that amazing food. I love Mexico! Salutos from Brazil.
Yess!! More Mexico 🇲🇽 episode please!!
💙
Everytime I watch this documentary. It makes me happy and feel really blessed to have been born in the American Southwest.
I've been to nearly every state in the US and to a few other countries as well.
Imo few things, other than my grandmas' traditional Navajo cooking, taste as amazing as barbocoa with fresh (spicy af) salsa and corn tortillas straight off the griddle with a light spritz of lime, healthy dose of cilantro, and some avacado.
great video bro, I am from Oaxaca and it is really nice to see people interested in coming to see this wonderful place. Don't listen to negative comments!
Yes! Still crave the quesadillas & street tacos in Oaxaca .. looks like we have to go back and try more!

Chef Ruiz has a great happy face, you can see his pride, love for food and excitement. I love the molcajete on the dinner table!

You want to know MEXICO start in OAXACA there is so much to see, the food it’s for the Gods...Chocolate,vanilla,tomate,corn,chile, just to mention a few treasures to the world, Mexico shaped the kitchens around the world with it's NATIVE treasures. They say Mexicans are "HIJOS DEL MAIZ" Maiz is corn,,,people of the earth of the corn. I meet Chef Alejandro great person.
