Make Atton a Jedi Sentinel & Atton's Past (Part 1 of 2)

- Atton has got to be one of my all-time favorite video game characters. He's witty, sarcastic, and has an intriguingly dark past.
He's also one of the characters in KOTOR 2 that you've simply GOT to Jedi-ify. Not only to help boost him for the scrap with the Twin Suns, but because, in the process, you'll get to hear about Atton's run as an Elite Sith Assassin, and his unyielding loyalty to Revan.
So be sure to make Atton a Jedi, whether light or dark (Shem's got a vid up showing Atton being trained as a dark Jedi), each and every time you play. ;)
BTW, I'll be putting up an Atton Influence vid just as soon as I get around to it! :D

Because Atton is having sort of a psychotic desperation during this conversation, he was cornered and had to share truths and opinions he did not wish to. He still respects your character (if your influence is big) and not wanting to upset you and diminish your views of him is why he didn't want to talk about it in the first place.
Carth on the other hand spends the whole game not trusting you, even after you help him and his son reunite,; having to deal with his trust issues every couple of hours feels obnoxious at best, specially since after getting his trust...he just doesn't do anything else, he is just...there. But for me the worst comes in the Dark side run, it's just so...urgh, he is a dense motherfucker; he would rather be with the Republic, than side with me...I helped him get revenge, I helped him get his son back, but he still prefers to be a shitty slave for the Republic, the Republic failed to save his home world and thus failed to save his family, it's because of his loyalty to the Republic that he couldn't be there for them, and it is why his son feels disconnected to him and blames him for everything.
I Love Carth, but by god, he is such a Whiner.
And about your rian johnson comment...you failed to understand WHY the last jedi failed; the ideas weren't all that terrible, Luke being a gray jedi was the "canon" on the Star Wars EU; problem was that it didn't have a point besides making the previous movies pointless, it was just "oh look Luke was a failure" and that was all to it, that's why it sucked. The idea that Jedi aren't the Galaxy's greatest heroes were present even in the Original Trilogy as Luke disregard Yoda and Obi Wan's orders to Kill Vader, they were willing to not let Luke know that he was his father in order to get him to do so; but Luke didn't do it, and he didn't fall to the Dark Side.
Kotor 2 accomplishes what 99% of the rest of Star Wars didn't or couldn't: A realistic middle ground that shows that the Sith and the Jedi are flawed.
@@iug5672 exactly. But that doesn't change the core between the two. There is no middle group in reality there is one or the other with false sections in between. In the ultimate end one or the other will win. Good VS evil has probably always existed even before humans. We all pretty much know of the two sides who wins. Good. Good will always win. The question is why and why is it we deny it. Is it because it's so old and overused it's boring and stale. Is it because we are turning evil and probably not. Its most likely a number of things. Evil winning is different and unique it does against what we are taught and told its exciting and gets your adrenaline rushing flooding your body with hormones. It's not necessarily a bad thing to want evil to win because we are so annoyed with good this and that. It's something we are just constantly told we want to appease our curiosity of what evil can do or is. There's probably deeper meanings and realties to both as well.

Neutrality was just so fleshed out in this game. I was amazed by it. Exactly what Disneys Star Wars needs.

eh, let people be disappointed, man. So many generations are into Star Wars now that we all have wildly different yet equally valid perspectives. It just feels like Mickey Mouse only cares about the perspectives that rake in the dough.

It's chilling to hear parallel dialogue like how a ruthless assassin droid's methods for hunting Jedi was just spoken out of Atton
I stumbled upon this by accident just talking to him in the game, ended up convincing him to become a sentinal. Omg though the conversation was so deep lol, never have i cared this much about a side story in a game before. Proper good writing and props to devs for this.
Actually made me reflect on life a bit too haha, holy crap this game is a gem.

You need to put him in his place every now and then. Atton isn't the kind of guy who always is flattered when you talk in his favor. I healed a refugee and Atton questioned my actions. I replied something along the lines of: "I don't have to explain myself to you". Than gain me influence with him.
So consider that he is not the kind of guy who likes sweet talking.

This was the first game I stayed up all night playing as a child
When I first played this as a kid I was surprised to find myself completely agreeing with Atton here. Ever since I've seen the Jedi and Sith in a different light.
This makes Atton out to be not so much as a fool as first thought, putting Kreia to shame with here abilities to read people. Although he is truly a deserter at heart he is not quite the fool after all with his skills.
Atton is hard to read. He captured Jedi and developed a technique to block his thoughts from telepathy. It makes perfect sense
The Atton being a fool part is less to do with him being stupid and more to do with him not being able to commit to either side.

He was originally meant to be the main character in Jedi Academy, but was replaced at the last minute.
I love how the lines of Jedi and Sith, good and evil, light and dark are blurred in this game, makes for good storylines and characters :)

There's something about non-Force users going and taking out Force users that is so cool to me. HK-47 and Atton just assassinating jedi by the dozens. Even in TOR as a Smuggler or Bounty Hunter showing open disrespect to jedi and sith and still outdoing them. There's something exceptional about the unexceptional in a galaxy of laser wizards taking them down a peg.
Ngl being a lethality operative in a reptile or skeletor transmog with an AK 47 absolutly destroying jugs and knights by the 100s kept me playing for years the way you stab them and giggle after was such a rush lol
you can never really ' finish ' kotor 1/2, cause there's always someone else you can influence into getting into something.
You know, after viewing his story, I literally cried because I had similar experiences.

How can anyone say Carth is the better character after Atton's backstory? Atton is a cold-blooded killer and the best part is that he accepts it, he doesn't whine about it. That's just who he is and he doesn't give a crap.

I know that the comments 7 years old.... But at least atton didn't run away from a sith like carth ran away from Darth Revan in the DS ending of kotor. Atton fought Sion and in my playthrough defeated him.
@Joshua Locklear I always keep my mines for that exact moment against Sion. My nickname for Atton is Muhammad because of this XD.

Atton being a former Sith soldier reminds me of how in the Han Solo novels, and the Solo movie it's stated that Han Solo was formerly an Imperial soldier.
i still dislike that the canon origin of the name solo is just that some random imperial made it up, but but i quite like the idea of han being an imperial veteran
@@username-yc3bd I think it's stupid too especially since Han talks about his dad and the shipping business that he had so why doesn't he mention his last name? I still do like how they incorporated the backstory of Han Solo being an Imperial veteran from the Han Solo novels into the Solo movie but the movie giving a bunch of explanations for things that no one wanted is definitely one it's its biggest issues. Thought (not trying to be mean to anyone but) I would love to imagine what it was like for the one person who was actually wondering how Han got his last name.

Revan really brought war to the entire republic, turned the Jedi against themselves and nearly razed the galaxy to cinders just so the Republic would mobilize against Valkorion and be ready for the Eternal Empire when it came knocking?
Is that really what it was all about? Making the Republic strong enough to stand against Tenebrae/Vitiate?
This vid is actually him becoming a light Jedi, but I'll still answer your question. ;) You've simply got to be very Dark sided yourself, then, when you have enough influence with him to make him a Jedi, he'll automatically be a dark Jedi. :)

If you can't just follow along with the dialog that I've posted in these 2 vids, you probably need to gain more influence with Atton first. If you need help with influence, you can watch my "Atton Influence Opportunities (LS)" vid.
I know I played kotor 1 after a couple years, and got a companion quest, that I had never even heard of. lol
And Mical (Disciple) in place of Brianna (Handmaiden) if you're female.

I really don't bother. As soon as I get Visis and Handmaiden, I leave him on the ship, beef up his levels and weapons for the Cantina fight, then don't bother talking to him afterwards. I use Visis, Handmaiden, Mira, and Canderous for the rest of the game, with Bao Dur on the Smuggler ship. I prefer to keep Bao Dur a mechanic for making stuff and don't make him a Jedi either. Three female Jedi and the toughest shooter. I barely buff Kreia either, using mostly Exile and Visis on Onderon. I send her old Hag body into the gas rooms and the like.

Yes just do nar shadda as first planet and you can have them all done before your second planet

You have to have a high persuade skill. Also you need to be a Jedi Master prestige class.

well really you just need a high persuade skill, and being a consular/master helps with that greatly. Also you need influence points with him, as with all other companions.
Atton has an issue with trust. To gain influence, choose dialogue with Light-Side points and things he agrees with. Killing innocent people will hurt your chance of gaining influence.

god i hated the undercity....HATED IT
lol beat kotor 2 two times light and dark.
kotor olny once. it took me 5 years to beat it, 1 year of playing the game took me six months to get off taris and from there it got easy. the other 4 and half years i didnt play as much. plus the star forge was the hardest. over 300 enemys and limited suppies.....god i hated it.

You have to give it to atton considering just what we know of his past that's pretty harsh to constantly deal with.
I do wish he wasn't a sentinel but it Makes sense. My biggest issue with the kotor 2. Is that you get depending on your sex and or gender you choose. Seriously gender is just a false idea of what is the core word. Sex. Anyways depending on your choice you can get bao as a guardian with the hainmaiden as a male. Or kreia and oh shoot what was his name disciple or something as consulers. Hanharr apparently can become a jedi/sith unsure about it and what class he is. Mira Is a setiniel and so is visas. Atton is a setiniel. I mean the consulers and guardians have 1 good options. Disciple I think oh God imma get hate for having his name wrong and the handmaiden. Bao is OK but you really need to basically choose as he levels carefully amd get it super early for it to be effective so he isn't bad he's actually cool overall so technically 2. But kreia my god I can't stand her at all. She acts like being good in some situations and evil in other is the best no its not. If their universe wasnt so Corrupt that wouldn't be a problem to be good at all. Sorry people good is overall better just boring and such. She's just ugh can't stand her. Making disciple the only good consuler unless. You choose consuler. Sentinels are just. Too many. I think having only 3 classes for. The party. Members suck for jedi training. Visas. Should have been able to become a watchmen or something. Keria a master. Battlemaster for maybe bao or something idk. Spice it up a bit and such.
