So the photo of Keith on the floating piano, it actually lifted and spun him head over heels around and around, just holding on by his legs. He was quite the showman! You have to listen to the 1970 version of the song, you missed more than half of the song
Thank you very much for this version, which I didn't know yet, with lots of sound effects that were new at the time and are intended to impress the audience live - but I don't know if I like it yet. I find the album recording, which was recorded live 2-3 years earlier, but certainly with a smaller audience and certainly less pressure to succeed from the record company, musically much more accessible and structured, less synthesizer-experimental, better self-contained. Greg's voice is also much stronger and more impressive. It's a shame I didn't suggest this to you. I recommend you the original album version; you will certainly not be disappointed and will recognize the explanations better you made👍✌.

Not gonna lie, I've never really listened to ELP but, since you're broadening your musical horizons , I'll join you... This was... different, not bad different, just different. I liked the second half for sure.. I'll have to listen some to some more with you. Love your enthusiasm. Keep up the good work. There may be hope for our future yet if others follow your lead 😊
There is no studio version from back then. The weird “dentist” sounds were made by Keith wrestling the Hammond Organ. He lifts it up, spins it to get feedback, stabs it, rides it, Very experimental. He loved manipulating sound
Thanks for finding this version which is different from the album cover you have on display. Listen to the original version also. I was a small kid when this came out, I had to be a drummer because of Carl Palmers influence. These guys show you that you can rock even with out Rock guitar. ELP were badass.
Compare with the Mussorsky original. ELP were surprisingly respectful and honoured the composer by following the structure and melodies of the classical version. Of course they interpreted it in their own way. The 1970 version was less experimental version and better IMO.
This sounds like a bootleg. You should have played the Lyceum Pictures which is on the brown album on your screen. All versions they ever did were live, including a film of the Lyceum version which is very cool.

Thanks for watching! Comment below what the next reaction should be
A gem from my favorite band. So glad I got to see them twice in '74. AWESOME.

I'd recommend listening to Take a Pebble by ELP, really good as well as Tarkus and Karn Evil 9
@SattzFF I will, thank you
