Hi Aileen 😊 Absolutely brilliant reaction and analysis to The Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" 😊👍 You absolutely get it here in 2024 of a song that came out in the 60s... As you have with the other two songs that you have reacted and analyzed to "Painted Black" and "Gimme Shelter". It's very interesting on the outro with the selections of the songs to play next you have on your channel "Gimme Shelter" and your Pink Floyd playlist as the algorithm. These two bands are very thought-provoking and please, please, please keep talking as we and I love your words so very much and your thought processes. I am so glad you have again chosen the lyrics version so you can see the words and see how the instrumentals are tied together and you spoke of this very beautifully in your analysis. Flip Wilson had a line in his comedy routine..."the devil made me do it". This became a tagline for a complete generation and maybe even more going forward to blame someone else for our troubles or our actions or our choices. You dissected this perfectly in your analysis of yeah the devil may have planted the seed but we have the choice to reject. In reading the book "The Sleepwalkers" about the events that led up to World War One. I kept saying to myself what's driving these people and why aren't they stopping. I can say the same thing for today as you're looking at the events unfolding to possibly lead to World War 3. Yes, in a spiritual sense Lucifer, Satan, Beelzebub, the devil... whichever name you want to tag him with is bent on the destruction of mankind because it is in his nature to do so. Again I want to applaud you for spending the time to discuss analytically the meaning of the song, the breakdown of the lyrics and the instrumentals to complete the whole thought that they intended. The process of completing a song is a laborious one that involves discussions and decisions which are formulated from a thought whether that thought be instrumental or lyrical. Your ability to dig deep below the surface is what makes you the best and we enjoyed each and every one of your reactions and analysis. I am so very proud of you my adopted sister and I love you very very much. I will see you on the next reaction. Take care. Have a great day you and Arya with much love 😊👍💪❤️🙏🤲👑👑
One of the few Stones songs with a prominent piano line. They released their first album in 1964 and they released the latest one year ago in October. That's FIFTY NINE YEARS apart!! They had a hit on the new album which is "Hackney Diamonds" and the hit was, "Angry". There is a really cool vid on Y.T. of the song. Great reaction lady. Love the detail of the explanations you give. As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
This song went through many incarnations during the writing process, including an acoustic guitar slow version. They brought in some Islan percussion and it morphed the song into a totally different attitude. Plus the addition of the 124 WOO WOOs, added another unintended accidental iconic hook.
First off I love your reactions. Second if you haven't done it yet I suggest Can't You Hear Me Knocking . The one great thing about the Stones is their variety they have songs that are stylistic American country , traditional rock and roll , this is like a Samba .
That's the most I've ever enjoyed that song. ❤ Your enjoyment is contagious, Aileen. Also, I was listening through my surround sound, and it really brought it to life!
Aileen, as always, the quality of your response is unquestionable, but this time has a special touch as it looks like your horns fit perfectly on this occasion.
To fully understand this song you have to read Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita, the novel it was based on . The song perfectly catches the novels vibe !
That baseline is hypnotic ❤ I loved your input. I think another aspect of this song, from Lucifer’s view, is that he has had his hand in assisting humanity with all of the horrors over time, pointing out his influence, and that maybe we should have a little respect for him. 🤘🏼
Your reactions are great - it's good you talk a lot, because practically all of it is focused on the art you are reacting to and you take a deep perceptive dive into it while simultaneously articulating your immediate insights about it to others. That is an impressive gift.
SFTD was what got me into the stones. With Gimme Shelter and Sympathy for the Devil you started really strong. Paint it Black is nice too, but less R&R / R&B type. Other great songs you could try: Angie (ballad Live Brussels Afair '73 ), "Get Off Of My Cloud", "Time Waits for no one".
In 1973, I was working and I heard on the radio that 500 additional seats for the Stones would be available bcuz they moved some equipment. I told my boss I was not feeling well. He said to go home. So I made a b-line for the Forum in Inglewood and got 2 tickets. The seats were behind the stage. There was a catwalk behind the stage. Mick got on that catwalk half a dozen times and sang just for us.
Hi Aillen greetings from England 🇬🇧 The Stones are now in there 80s, they are still performing and touring together and they simply get better with age!!! You should check out them singing I CANT GET NO SATISFACTION Live at GLASTONBURY in 2013 in front of 250,000 fans its an absolute master class performance and in the uk we simply call them The Stones.
It's a great song! Glad you got to experience it. It was a song that blew me away as a kid. Looks like you had a similar reaction, Aileen. Happy to see it! Cheers!
This was the song that the wrestling team at my HS, back in the 80s, always came out to. They were very good, were close to the top squad in the nation in 86, opponents knew exactly what that song foreshadowed.
This is my favorite Rolling Stones song. Im so happy you reacted to it. The bassline is SO much fun to play. On a side note, Im about to go off topic and genre, but I wanted to recommend any live performance, or the album version, of the song "Colors" by the Black Pumas. The lives hit harder though. They're a current band 50 years too late unfortunately. Their style is 70's soul music. I feel like you'd enjoy this song immensely. You've reacted to 2 of my all time top 10 favorite songs recently (this, and Southbound Pachyderm). I can't help but think Black Pumas will take your souls hand and dance with you.
Loved your review. There are so many Stones songs but for a similar style of music, check ... You Can't Always Get What You Want. Also another song I love is Honky Tonk Women
Pretty much my favorite Stones song since it came out. Saw them once live and they didn't do this, yet, they they did it the next concert! oh well, still was a fantastic concert!!
Since the very first time I heard this decades ago, I have never failed to be blown away by that stinging guitar. It is absolute perfection, and no live performance lives up to it.
You're spot on regarding the lyrics, Mick has said that his goal in writing lyrics is to reflect the mood of the music. This is one of my favorite Keith guitar solos and oddly Keith also played bass on this track (oddly since the Stones already have a fabulous bass player in Bill Wyman). The Stones have been my favorite band since 1964 - little did I know then it would be a lifetime commitment.
The Rolling Stones at their best, one of the most thought provoking tunes and a masterful lyric video makes it all come alive. Yep, tingle, chills, whatever, they do it to me on a regular basis. It is insane they toured in 2024 and still kick but as 80 year olds. The Beatles were the best Rock Band BUT the Stones had the longest, greatest career of any band in Rock History. They continue to amaze and their catalog is endless, you will be reacting to them for the rest of you life! Do the studio original for Can't You Hear Me Knocking next and listen in wonder as the transition hits like a ton of bricks! Enjoy, as their radio promos used to say when they started a new tour, the Rolling Stones don't just play Rock n Roll, they ARE Rock n Roll! Rock On! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎷🎶🔥
@@vicprovost2561 I’ll reluctantly agree re the Beatles. They just had way too many silly songs for my taste. Of course, they weren’t a band long enough to see what direction they may have gone. The Stones just exuded so much attitude and weren’t afraid to push the envelope with lyrics, which to me is quintessential rock and roll. My top three are easy: Stones, Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Four and five can come and go, but for now I’ll say Free/Bad Co (counting them as one), and Allman Brothers.

Ive enjoyed this journey with you Aileen. May there be many more:)
Laibach has a banger of a cover of this song, too.
They're an industrial, operatic Slavic band from the 80s that has an absolutely unique sound.
Insane longevity and staying relevant with your fastball to the very end, we are not worthy!
Loved that smile at the end of the guitar solo😁
Such a smart, insightful, heartfelt, expressive reaction... probably the best commentary on this song I've seen on TH-cam. Outstanding!
The devil,..........is all of us. The devil is the scapegoat we invented to explain the worst of human nature.
This video is pefect. Just the lyrics and no distracting visuals.
Great read into the meaning of these lyrics. It usually baffles folks for a bit and you caught it right away. :)
That's the most I've ever enjoyed that song. ❤
Your enjoyment is contagious, Aileen.
Also, I was listening through my surround sound, and it really brought it to life!
I can't get over the piano in this. Simply legendary.
Aileen, as always, the quality of your response is unquestionable, but this time has a special touch as it looks like your horns fit perfectly on this occasion.
I love that you give props to the guitar tone! It really cuts through the mix. Plus,it sounds like Lucifer himself playing the solo.
Good thing you had your horns on. Perfect! Great tune and I loved your reaction.
Never apologize, Aileen... we love to listen to you babble. The more you babble, the more we get to know you. 😎❤
Fantastic reaction Aileen! You really got it. My own favorite Stones song is "You Can't Always Get What you Want". Consider reacting to it soon ;)
Loved seeing you geek out on this one. This is one of if not my favorite Stones song.
To fully understand this song you have to read Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita, the novel it was based on . The song perfectly catches the novels vibe !
The Master & Margarita is one of the most amazing book I’ve ever read. Anyone who hasn’t read it, give it a try and you’ll be in for a wild ride…
Greatest Rock n Roll band in the world!
1:19 Pontius Pilate "He is best known for being the official who presided over the trial of Jesus and ultimately ordered his crucifixion."
That baseline is hypnotic ❤
I loved your input. I think another aspect of this song, from Lucifer’s view, is that he has had his hand in assisting humanity with all of the horrors over time, pointing out his influence, and that maybe we should have a little respect for him. 🤘🏼
Masterpiece. And I loved the cover made by Ghost!
Yes one of my fav of theirs. Another is Its Only Rock n Roll. ❤
Insightful analysis, Aileen. Keep up the good work !
This whole album, Beggar's Banquet (1968), is great - and the follow up in '69 (Let It Bleed) are my two favorites from the 'Stones.
Your reactions are great - it's good you talk a lot, because practically all of it is focused on the art you are reacting to and you take a deep perceptive dive into it while simultaneously articulating your immediate insights about it to others. That is an impressive gift.
I’m with you on this one. Might be my favorite if not one of my favorite songs of all time. Perfection in music.
I've been waiting for this....let's the video play
I'm already in awe of your grasp of your reactions but today you took it up many notches.
Fantastic reaction! Felt like I was listening to it for the first time 🖤
This is the song my mom showed me to get into this band as a kid which is crazy you're reacting to the exact same song 😭
Lovin' that bass groove!
Rolling Stones -Satisfaction
SFTD was what got me into the stones. With Gimme Shelter and Sympathy for the Devil you started really strong. Paint it Black is nice too, but less R&R / R&B type. Other great songs you could try: Angie (ballad Live Brussels Afair '73 ), "Get Off Of My Cloud", "Time Waits for no one".
All great songs
Great reaction Aileen so happy you done this one hope you and everyone are doing well 🙏
In 1973, I was working and I heard on the radio that 500 additional seats for the Stones would be available bcuz they moved some equipment. I told my boss I was not feeling well. He said to go home. So I made a b-line for the Forum in Inglewood and got 2 tickets. The seats were behind the stage. There was a catwalk behind the stage. Mick got on that catwalk half a dozen times and sang just for us.
I've been a Stones fan for more than 50 years and imho this is their best song.
Your eyes are especially sparkly today Aileen.
In my opinion, this song is on my top ten list of the greatest rock songs ever!!! Just well written. Definitely, my favorite STONES song 👍🍀
It's a great song! Glad you got to experience it. It was a song that blew me away as a kid. Looks like you had a similar reaction, Aileen. Happy to see it! Cheers!
Ive been a stones fan for 50 years and you just taught me something about this song I never realized! your amazing
Love the Reaction 💯, one of my Favorite lyrics is at the end ... "You're Too Blame"
If/when I get to buy my own house I will make damn sure my bathroom is decorated inspired by this video!
Great reaction!
Pretty much my favorite Stones song since it came out. Saw them once live and they didn't do this, yet, they they did it the next concert! oh well, still was a fantastic concert!!
This is one my top 3 Stones songs, the others being Paint it Black and I Can't Get No(Satisfaction). Wonderful reaction :)!
I'd also recommend the live version from The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus in 1968
The Rolling Stones at their best, one of the most thought provoking tunes and a masterful lyric video makes it all come alive. Rock On!
🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎷🎶🔥
Correction: Beatles were the best Pop band; Stones are were and are the best Rock band.
@Gordy63 Beatles were a Rock Band as well, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix round out my top 5.
Love the channel @AileenSenpai and I love how emotional you get during your reviews. TBH I've always personally found the Stones a little lacklustre but this song is pretty incredible (especially given the time it was released). I'd love to see you give The Smiths a listen and a review (Particularly How Soon is Now). Hope to see it and have a great Thanksgiving
You need to do “Can’t you her me knocking” or “Beast of Burden”
You should read the biography of the model who was the most powerful person in the Stones' orbit around this time, Anita Pallenberg. Massive influence on this song.😮
Those BIG FAT bassy notes, the bongos perfectly placed, the piano! Simply incredible!
Who ever did the graphics for this video was an absolute genius. Seriously very, very, very talented. The Stones are great, but I feel that graphic artistry deserves it's own special mention.
Masterpiece of music and then you throw the deep meaningful purposeful lyrics on top of it. You hit it exactly. Love your videos. Original version Wild Horses is amazing also.
Finally!!! I've been waiting patiently for your reaction to this.
Love your take...
Treat yourself to the live version at the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus 1969 you’ll see all the instruments in action and Mick is on point.
This and Paint it Black are my Fav STones songs personally
'Miss you' by the Rolling Stones. Another amazing song and amazing sound. You will get your rock funk on. Probably the studio version is best but that is just from my experience. I haven't seen them all.
Amen to this!!!!! Then comes "Angie."
Ohhh yes, here it comes, their best song. I hade to paus to get my headset for this
Hey little sis. I can't always keep up with the times from PTSD. I'm very proud of you. You have a heart of gold.
