The part of the decision process that I don't agree with is choices are based on Bricklink's prior experience with certain designers not the best designs. 4 of the 5 designers had earlier Bricklink sets chosen for production.

I love Lego castle so I'm all for it and getting unique castle sets Lego would never make themselves is awesome. I get that for city/modular builders this isn't good for you, but castle is king 👑

I’m not anti castle as much as I just don’t have a place for them. I’m happy for
      The castle builders 😂

@@jkbuilders2000 Isn't that the truth? I don't have the space either 🤣🤣 I also wish there was a nice modular building in this wave. Thanks for the great content!

" I don't understand why people love castles"
    - "didnt you buy it?"
    "yeah i bought 2"
    lol yikes.
Also people have been begging for LEGO to bring back it's medieval stuff, after being swamped with Star Wars, Marvel, brickheadz and random other stuff for years

🤣 I get there’s a huge demand for them, I just don’t have a place for them right now and I’d prefer they chose some of the incredible modular buildings that were up for vote!

The last set looks the best. Although the water front castle peaks my interest

I bet the Sushi restaurant had the most votes - but it would have probably cost more than $399 or more

Castle is FIRE!! Zero Contraversy Bro. Did you participate in the Very First Crowd Funding ? Took less then 30 Minutes to sell 5K Units, which actually went Double to 10K... The Last Round here Season 1 The Mountain Fortress ..For Falcons was the FIRST one to sell out 30K Units..... Lego knows what they're doing and the castle Community is Loving it. We are getting all the Good stuff coming in HOT Now, waaay better then the smaller playsets that we had to MOC and Mill up to make better sets. Look at the 3 in 1 Castle, Blacksmith..Lego was testing the waters, and HUGE Sellers. Don't worry Bricklink may not be for you, but for sure the Castle sets are selling out and the train..the Weird Boat house, meh..? I Do Agree we also need more pirate, we do have one coming here for Round 2! Happy about that. BL Des igner program is for Serious Builder collectors. Its not playset style, the Adult Audience is the main Consumer for the sets. Ideas and others in Store may be more your liking. For now CASTLE is KING and will remain the top seller on BL for this year and hopefuilly many more. Lego is making a fortune off these sets. the New Dungeons and Dragons theme is going to do very well too =) Good Luck and best Wishes in your Collectiing and Building, its wonderful hobby to share with our kids that will literally last for generations. Remember one take away here, if you dont like the Castle sets, but them anyways and make a Nice chunk of change on aftermarket years later, guarentee its better then any CD you will ever get at a Bank. Make Money, buy others sets you really want =) Lego is Magical for times for the Castle and train Fans right now, perhaps more sets will land that you will be excited about in Round 5

Trust me I’m buying them all 🤣 I happen to think the modular buildings would sell very well too and that’s what I’d like to see more of. Sets like the Lego store, modular construction site, bowling alley, etc have had no issues selling.

The Bricklink folks actually outline what their selection criteria is in their periodic podcasts. Their primary metric is votes. However, there are a lot of other metrics. I don't remember all of them. A big one is that the average piece count for the five sets needs to be around 2,500 pieces. Another two are that they prefer to feature new creators and spread out the themes. I think that if you are interested in the modular city sets, that piece count metric is a HUGE component. Most modulars are more than 2,500 pieces.
Another component is that most of the minifigures available for use in the program seem to lean castle . Personally, castle theme is my favorite, and I aim to create two castle entries in the next program. I am a new designer, so crossing my figures (also I am not using light bluish-gray castle walls). I can understand the disappointment if you don't like castle, though.

Dang I was disappointed too, but not for the reasons you were. Not a single Pirate themed set, so sad. None of the sets I voted for made it in. For Pirates I really wanted the Imperial Trading Post and Imperial Sloop Neptune.
I also I wanted the Western Town that had a train with it, no idea why a western train by itself without any tracks won. The other was an all in one town playset with full train tracks too! It had everything a western fan could want except a a pistol wielding bandit and extra horses. I'm heartbroken this didn't make it through. I even cleared off and made room on my shelf for it. I'm crying inside haha
Really sad the Atlantis Sea Lab playset didn't make it it. And I really liked the one Viking ship in there too with the green sail.
I like the Sea Side Castle set, but it's awkwardly shaped and I wouldn't have a place for it. I had a REAL hard time finding a place for the Viking Village. But its tge only set that looks setup for actual play, which is paramount in my Lego purchases.
I like Castle, but I don't love it like Pirates. I only have a small space to display Castle stuff and only have small sets. I will keep holding off.
So far the only Bricklink series sets I've liked were Snack Shack series 1 and Pirate Island in series 2 and Tearsrop Camper series 3. All of series 4 will be a skip.
Hope that's enough for "active engagement" haha. Thanks for joining me for my Ted Talk

🤣😂 you’re right there were so many better sets they could have chosen. I like the pirate sets because they can be incorporated in a beach or water scene in a city.
