My personal least favorite level has got to be Starquake from one of the early Demon Packs. Everything about the level is perfectly designed to be the antithesis of what a good level looks and plays like.

I want to make one major correction about why I used to hate Dynamic on Track and why many players likely hated it. There was a bug in that level for a long time that rendered it unbeatable to anyone with a refresh rate higher than 60hz. Meaning you would have to lower your refresh rate in order to complete a 5 star. Obviously, it wouldn't be that bad with megahack nowadays, but before the level was updated there wasn't easy way to make that happen. Meaning for players like myself, it was annoying to attempt to complete. Obviously, that shouldn't ruin a reputation for an entire level, but it definitely causes me flashbacks anytime I see the name Dynamic on Track
Honestly I think that having to memorize easier difficulty levels is an issue with map packs. So many earlier map pack levels require memorization that doesn't seem fun to do unless if it is rated insane difficulty or above. Levels like square adventure and portal hold this issue and it's why I personally despise map pack levels. Also when you finally get to the demon levels and think the memorization will finally be bearable now, you get starquake. Anyways this was a great video! :D
It's been so long since I just sat down and played the game and didn't just grind extreme demons that I barely have any opinions on easier levels anymore, the only thing I can say for sure is that Crystal by Zeronium is my least favorite level in the game lol

Hey pal. As someone who likes PvZ and GD, your channel has piqued my interest recently. Keep up the variety content. If i could make some recommendations, team fortress 2, subnautica, and strategy games like Rebel Inc. are great games for content.
I actually argue that, despite having all the markers of a bad map pack level, I really like Tyrian Wall. It takes be back to the oldest days of geometry dash, and makes me feel like I’m a god at the game. It looks very similar to old impossible levels without the actual difficulty, which gives me a level of satisfaction that should be impossible for an 8-star. Some of the gameplay is rather fun too, at least when you get the hang of it. The first ball is one of my favorites.
9:13 I kid you not I had the exact same thought about how P0rtal being made in 2.2 could have been so much better when I finally beat it a few weeks ago. Another great video with another great game to discuss

There are peaks such as Change of Scene, ISpyWithMyLittleEye, White Space, SayItBack, Absolute Garbage, Floating Outskirts, WHAT, Eschaton Pxttxrn Sxxkxr, Glorious Fortress, Ultra Violence and many more. I highly recommend SayItBack, as it became one of, if not my most favorite level of all time
It’s understandable that Odyssey isn’t that great of a level because it was created back in 2017 and made by all “unknown” creators that probably were less experienced
I never knew Geometry Dash had a following. Yeah I knew people played it even after 10 years (Happy belated 10 year anniversary btw, GD) but I find it astonishing that such a simple game is this popular. Anyway, I think GD is a cool game, though I will admit the levels in the game (specifically the ones you provided in the video) seem more focused on appearances than gameplay, and I am not a huge fan of rapid flashing lights. At least, that’s my opinion. GD, for me, was one of those games where I played it and stepped away from it after a week or two. Seeing this video reminded me of the good times I had of GD, albeit short, and recording a cringe-ass video on it roughly over 7 years ago. 😅 Overall this was a great video and I’m interested to see what else you’ve got planned.
Dude, cookie run ovenbreak is in a REALLY, REALLY good state right now. People are just afraid of change. The gem update was really great and ftp friendly. Just wish you could buy more than 10 sets of crystals a week
Damn, these levels really are atrocious. I always find it interesting to hear other peoples opinions on level design, especially for games like Geometry Dash. Also, I have not heard anyone mention CROB for a while (still don't know if I should get back to playing it)
I think placing orbs in the ground are fine. Just put the ground on the higher layer so that less than half of the orb is covered, this makes it less ugly.
Bro explained the biggest problems for the gd community imo on the first level lol. Unsightreadble game play, blind transitions, confusing game play, un needed jump pads that always somehow throw me off, blind jumps, blind gravity/size changes. All so annoying and obnoxious and they make a fun level absolutely horrible to play
My least favorite level is Electroman Adventures. It has a cringy song, terrible decoration, and it’s the only official level to use fragile blocks, which is VERY inconsistent.

Wow I watched your pvz vids I didn’t know that you were a GD Fan too! I’ve been here since the start of 2.1, and it’s kind of crazy to say that I’ve been here for over 2/3 of the games lifespan. Who know’s what’s possible in 2.2? Probably more bad levels, but also probably the best we are ever going to see.
@@turtlegameryt_1490 i technically did, but unlike Dynamic on Track for example, Generation Retro deserves the critisism it gets, so there’s not much i could do to defend it
I'm making a new account for 2.2 since my old one is lb banned, so I'm not looking forward to having rebeat all of these levels 😭 I personally dont remember any of these being too terribly bad, but i hated playing starquake and flappy weird.
11:40 Wait, by this logic decoration in levels should straight up not exist. Whilst I do agree that the 2.0 update to the level made it look unclean, unsightreadable, and bad, this criticism is pretty dangerous to apply to all levels.
although i get where you’re coming from, i think ToR’s case a little too specific to apply to all levels. ToR looked perfectly fine before being updated, and if the creator really wanted to update the gameplay, they could’ve stuck to the level’s original visual style for the sake of consistancy (because unlike most other online levels, ToR is in a map pack which every player is required to beat so long as they want to collect every Secret Coin). when i said there are so many things being there just to be there, i mean there’s so much decor that doesn’t compliment anything, it’s only there to fit empty space or to make the level look more “animated”. of course, good decoration is subjective, but it doesn’t take a special pair of eyes to realize that ToR is generally unpleasing to look it
@@theoriginalalexWhat I meant by that is saying that “can you tell me why ________ is here besides for just looking cool” for all decorations and effects would really dumb down the creating aspect of the game. But yeah in the end the ToR update should have just changed gameplay and now it looks cluttered and messy, but I do think you chose some of the more mild changes to talk about.
oh man, as a Samsung mobile player, oh for the love of god did I hate Odyssey. The lag was unbearable at the drop, and the abrupt speed changes are only made like 10 times harder by my device running at a crispy -20 frames a second. An interesting thing about Odyssey, it's not alone in being a shitty magic gauntlet level, Kalaxian (the one before it) is ass and the one after (Empyrean) is satan spawn, and on my device about as laggy as Odyssey, just not a good gauntlet.
He likes PvZ he likes msm and he likes geometry dash this guy is an s teir youtuber he’s funny makes good vids and just plain cool truly one of my favourite youtube channels of all time
No way this guy added Screw Bot Factory 2 in this video right when I began seeing it as one of the best Rhythm Heaven Fever minigames. Guess I should've knows Alex was an absolute legend. Oh, and good video, BTW. As someone who hasn't played... let's say a lot of Geometry Dash since my early childhood, this was just as engaging and thorough video on these pretty abysmal levels that focus on style over actual level design and I enjoyed this video just as much as your previous videos on topics I hold dear to me, from the PvZ videos to the Minecraft School animations. Glad I've stuck around since your first PvZ 1 plants in PvZ 2 challenge video
problem with dynamic on track is that its unsightreadable and you cant jump at any random moment. when every input you do is death or living its a huge problem. if you are not a beginner you will never understand how bad dynamic on track is because of invisible difficulty. you will be blinded by your current too big of a skill. everyone has who talked about dynamic on track
empyrean is so much worse than odyssey in my eyes, at least odyssey has a cool and calm atmosphere so i actually want to persist through the bad gameplay empyrean is a miserable, excruciating, poorly decorated mess with gameplay that makes me miss thinking space
@@theoriginalalex for me what really does it is the song choice, empyrean’s song somehow feels obnoxious, besides that they feel like basically the same level to me
So for your criticisms Odyssey yeah i don't like it but some parts really embody the atmosphere of magic which is what its trying to be. Gameplay brings it down badly though Portal the points are good the unsightreadability is really bad here Theory Of Relativity I can understand this one too moving objects are a pain Dynamic On Track i have no arguments For the levels you would put but skill issue made you not Corrupted Kingdom if your good enough the gameplay is pretty fun Hyper Ice Jumper this one was valid to put in the video. The bugs in this level are terrible and just straight up broken Tyrian Wall I have no arguments Also I was nervous you were going to put Adrift on there seeing the adrift remake
Even though I will never beat it, slaughterhouse is one of my least favorite levels of all time. Made only to be a top 1, with extremely mediocre decoration that only uses red and gray, and a garbage song, and there are other extreme demons that I love like killbot and congregation.
Regarding your criticism on odyssey for being a gauntlet level: viprin couldnt have known that it would be chosen as a gauntlet level so therefore its not really to be expected to have some game design elements put into it like blind transitions and such
that’s a fair point, but at the same time, some of Odyssey’s gameplay flaws are so obvious that i can’t imagine someone playtesting it and going “yeah, these transitions are perfect”
strongly agree on theory of relativity. it was actually the LAST non demon map pack level I needed to beat, because dealing with the nonsense of that level was a genuinely painful experience. The old version looks like an alright 1.6 level though there's a couple blind clicks. then you get the new version where it feels like the 2.0 part in phobos where it's like 2.0 came out and people felt the need to implement the new mechanics in the worst way possible, mixing colors that don't go together, adding bs move triggers, invisible stuff, you name it. another level suffers from this too in the same pack, but I don't think to the same extent. I think it was called polargeist HD
Polargeist HD sucks too, but it’s a little more sufferable than ToR. the original version isn’t great either, there are some annoying jumps and timings. probably should’ve talked a little more about it, haha
My least favorite level has to be The Robotic Rush, an easy demon by Andromeda. The level starts out fine, decoration and gameplay wise, but the further it goes on, the worse it gets, the decoration starts to look awful, the gameplay turns into absolute dogwater, and my god the last ship part has an awful transition.
even if i did, they would eventually become older anyways. i kinda wanted to go through the history of levels by choosing ones from all different updates. no matter when they were released, it doesn’t excuse bad gameplay!
One of my least favorite map pack levels has to be gravity circles by Terminus M its another level that got updated but with random 2.1 shit instead of 2.0 and made the level more frustrating to play
My least favorite level has to be fire aura (from the magma gauntlet despite it being FIRE aura). The gameplay just feels wack and I hate going on it, still haven’t even finished it yet.
I love how alex never stays on one topic for too long so you can always find him again.

i remember suffering at dynamic on track while playing on phone, decided to do a practice run and did it in one attempt
I have two least favorite levels
And funnily enough both of them are not only from Gauntlets but also suffer from a similar issue...
Sightreadability
The two levels in question are Vibration by Schady (4th demon Gauntlet level) and Hellgate Menace by Chase (Final Monster Gauntlet level)
Starting with Vibration since it's so much Shorter to express my frustration with this level
Basically it's a level where consistency is non-existent
Shit appears in your face without warning
And it is impossible to know where you go next
Special mention to the part where you have to skip a blue gravity portal that looks way too much like the intended path, that is just evil
Also the level's decoration is just... Uninteresting and Bland, I would not remember this level's existence if it wasn't so bad
As for Hellgate Menace
Chase is known to make levels that are basically impossible to beat without practice mode
And bossfights (which is what the monster Gauntlet is all about) tend to be difficult to sightread when attacks are telegraphed poorly or just not at all (See the 2nd level of that same Gauntlet) put those two things together and you get a level that looks nice but is absolutely horrendeus to play
Alot of attacks are telegraphed poorly to the point where you either run into the attack anyway or have no idea how you're dodging it to begin with
And that's when the level is nice enough to telegraph said attacks since there are also bats that shoot fireballs that are hard to see with all the other stuff flying across the screen which can and very much so will kill you
Oh yeah did I mention this is only phase 1
Phase 2 has more unpredictable bats and completely untelegraphed attacks but here I can kinda excuse it since the path is straightforward enough where you can get it while sightreading
Phase 3 isn't that bad except whoopsie the boss's final form looks like decoration and it zaps you when you aren't looking
Hellgate Menace is probably worse but honestly both levels caused me a more or less equal amount of pain

0:25 Battle cats mentioned !!!!
We need generation retro in here
Yea
Colon dissected Generation Retro so beautifully that i couldn’t possibly add any new commentary
In my opinion, Generation Retro is a good level, it has flaws but I still like it
@@theoriginalalexI think you should have at least mentioned tho
@@turtlegameryt_1490 i technically did, but unlike Dynamic on Track for example, Generation Retro deserves the critisism it gets, so there’s not much i could do to defend it
I'm making a new account for 2.2 since my old one is lb banned, so I'm not looking forward to having rebeat all of these levels 😭
I personally dont remember any of these being too terribly bad, but i hated playing starquake and flappy weird.
StarQuake was really annoying, Flappy Weird is… interesting
i love algebra boost
good vid
@@james2be916 fair enough. i will say, that bit of “could you tell me why [blank] looks like this” was more of a joke
oh man, as a Samsung mobile player, oh for the love of god did I hate Odyssey.
15:02 by crepuscole? like creepuscule? from wublin island?
He likes PvZ he likes msm and he likes geometry dash this guy is an s teir youtuber he’s funny makes good vids and just plain cool truly one of my favourite youtube channels of all time
1:49 is no one going to talk about the sync lol
No way this guy added Screw Bot Factory 2 in this video right when I began seeing it as one of the best Rhythm Heaven Fever minigames.
Guess I should've knows Alex was an absolute legend. Oh, and good video, BTW. As someone who hasn't played... let's say a lot of Geometry Dash since my early childhood, this was just as engaging and thorough video on these pretty abysmal levels that focus on style over actual level design and I enjoyed this video just as much as your previous videos on topics I hold dear to me, from the PvZ videos to the Minecraft School animations.
Glad I've stuck around since your first PvZ 1 plants in PvZ 2 challenge video
i’m glad you stuck around too dude!
Once again, he made another interesting video!
thank you!
As a battle cats super fan, i am DYING for you to make a video on battle cats ever since you’ve shown you were a fan of the game
i’ve been thinking about ideas related to a Battle Cats video that i could do, since i don’t play the game anymore
@@theoriginalalex it would be cool to have a challenge, or just show where you stopped playing
problem with dynamic on track is that its unsightreadable and you cant jump at any random moment. when every input you do is death or living its a huge problem. if you are not a beginner you will never understand how bad dynamic on track is because of invisible difficulty. you will be blinded by your current too big of a skill. everyone has who talked about dynamic on track
i've been a geometry dash fan since 2015 and i can confidently say it was my gateway drug into rhythm games
what if we were cursed with the map packs and robtop intentionally made them bad...
How do you keep making videos about only games that i play and like??? Very cool
Also, agree with most picks
empyrean is so much worse than odyssey in my eyes, at least odyssey has a cool and calm atmosphere so i actually want to persist through the bad gameplay
empyrean is a miserable, excruciating, poorly decorated mess with gameplay that makes me miss thinking space
might have to revisit that one, but i don’t remember enjoying it either
@@theoriginalalex
for me what really does it is the song choice, empyrean’s song somehow feels obnoxious, besides that they feel like basically the same level to me
So for your criticisms
Odyssey yeah i don't like it but some parts really embody the atmosphere of magic which is what its trying to be. Gameplay brings it down badly though
Portal the points are good the unsightreadability is really bad here
Theory Of Relativity I can understand this one too moving objects are a pain
Dynamic On Track i have no arguments
For the levels you would put but skill issue made you not
Corrupted Kingdom if your good enough the gameplay is pretty fun
Hyper Ice Jumper this one was valid to put in the video. The bugs in this level are terrible and just straight up broken
Tyrian Wall I have no arguments
Also I was nervous you were going to put Adrift on there seeing the adrift remake
are you implying that Tyrian Wall is good or bad?
@@theoriginalalex no I literally I have no memory of the level
@@mushylovergd9174 that’s a surprise, considering that Tyrian Wall involves a shit ton of memory
@@theoriginalalex if that's the case then yeah maybe it is bad I have to play it again though
I totally agree about odyssey being ABSOLUTE ASS it took me like 30 mins to beat like goddamn for a 7 star that's crazy
Watch out for the Yellow Guy jumpscare
Even though I will never beat it, slaughterhouse is one of my least favorite levels of all time. Made only to be a top 1, with extremely mediocre decoration that only uses red and gray, and a garbage song, and there are other extreme demons that I love like killbot and congregation.
Neither colon or alex have seen the inconsistent, unsightreadable, bad looking mess that is anubis
And the worst part is that anubis is part of the chaos gauntlet which you need to free the demon gaurdian guy in the basement.
I really love your avatar it's so simple I love it❤
thank you!!
@@theoriginalalex your welcome
i don't play this game that much, but i have a friend who is absolutely addicted to geometry dash and has been waiting for an update for ages 😭
Seriously though what's the deal with people making portals invisible
Regarding your criticism on odyssey for being a gauntlet level: viprin couldnt have known that it would be chosen as a gauntlet level so therefore its not really to be expected to have some game design elements put into it like blind transitions and such
viprin was literally one of the people who made the gauntlets i think
that’s a fair point, but at the same time, some of Odyssey’s gameplay flaws are so obvious that i can’t imagine someone playtesting it and going “yeah, these transitions are perfect”
@@theoriginalalex i guess playtesting like 6 years ago wasnt a very big trend
strongly agree on theory of relativity. it was actually the LAST non demon map pack level I needed to beat, because dealing with the nonsense of that level was a genuinely painful experience.
Someone should make “Portal 2” once 2.2 comes out.. maybe it’ll actually be good.
My least favorite level has to be The Robotic Rush, an easy demon by Andromeda. The level starts out fine, decoration and gameplay wise, but the further it goes on, the worse it gets, the decoration starts to look awful, the gameplay turns into absolute dogwater, and my god the last ship part has an awful transition.
as a geometrical dasher i approve of this video form content
also i completely forgot about portal i hated playing that
I actually liked DOT. it was kinda fun, really.
i also find it fun, but that’s coming from a decent at best player
Lets goo geometry dash video:D
Just out of curiosity, do you primarily use the pc version, or the mobile version?
Would love to hear your thoughs on minigame levels in geometry dash.
Dude congrats on 40k been a since 5k
Finally, new video🔥🔥🔥
YOO ALEX IS UPLOADING
you know it!
Yes he talked about gd
Little did we know it would be delayed 💀
Surprised that you didn't choose a more recent level.
even if i did, they would eventually become older anyways. i kinda wanted to go through the history of levels by choosing ones from all different updates. no matter when they were released, it doesn’t excuse bad gameplay!
One of my least favorite map pack levels has to be gravity circles by Terminus M its another level that got updated but with random 2.1 shit instead of 2.0 and made the level more frustrating to play
i don’t remember enjoying Gravity Cycles very much, might have to look into it again
0:02 got me
My least favorite level has to be fire aura (from the magma gauntlet despite it being FIRE aura). The gameplay just feels wack and I hate going on it, still haven’t even finished it yet.
Ok, you don’t have to do this but, will there be a gd levels tier list?
maybe when Dash and Explorers come out
I did not know you played this
