Sim racing since 2001, been through all the low/mid hardware and have dabbled in high end gear in recent years. Spent a lot of money lost a few girlfriends (and a job, yeah I was bad) along the way but what I've learned when it comes to hardware is it's all about the correct resistances your body prefers. We're all different.
Pedals are the most important piece in any sim rig.
Doesn't matter whether it's a variable resistance potentiometer or a load cell it has to fit your strength and abilities... FEEL. Example I race in socks, always have and out of the box many sets will hurt your feet and seems impossible to hit 100% without tuning software. Some guys are untouchable using potents, look at Michi Hoyer in rF2 you can't catch him and he runs a Logitech.
Find your preference early, for me lighter less resistant pedals are better.
Bases. Bigger is not always better.
2011 Fanatec initially dropped the CSR Elite. I went all in and still use those pedals today. My ffb sweet spot is 3-4nm as I'm faster feeling subtle effects. Give me enough to understand, not so much it feels like mud. My heartrate and sweat will increase in an endurance but it will be from close racing, not fighting my hardware. The idea we need 20nm wheels is ridiculous, all the faster guys are dialing it back running fast sharp rims.
2023 and these entry level DD's are a no brainer. I wish they were around when I started and if you really feel you're going to end up falling down this rabbit hole do not waste resources on belt/gear driven options. Invest in a DD from the green flag and find your resistance preferences.
Great review BlackSheep, I've ordered an R5 bundle this morning as curiosity keeps me young. Happy racing friends.

What an amazing insight from someone with 22 years experience in sim racing! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences. I agree 100% the "feel" of the brake and the pedals is #1 priority. This is why out of the box I modded the brake. The feedback from the wheel is subjective depending on how much information your brain needs to make the proper decisions and corrections. Great to hear you decided to get the R5 you defiantly won't be disappointed with the base. Unfortunately out the Box the SRP-lite Pedals leave a lot on the table. Luckily they now have the Performance brake kit which in my opinion is pretty much perfect for the lower end pedals. Thanks again!

I ordered Directly from Moza website. They do carry some stock in Nevada, but mine came from mainland China. Took about 3 to 4 weeks to get here. I never got any real shipping info until it made it through customs in the states, then it took about 4 days to arrive. I also paid for Express shipping through DHL for the R5 bundle. I ordered the Performance brake mod and it arrived from same location in China in about 2 weeks normal shipping LOL. Unfortunately I believe they do bulk shipping once a week from china.

must add: DD wheels hold their value much better than any ordinary wheel. if the wheel base isn’t to your tastes then you can return or sell it for less of a loss. overall, beginners please save your money and invest in an R5 or similar DD for the long term.

Actually they just released a brake pedal mod for the SRP lite pedals this week. It's 29$ add on but looks just like what I made. And they do have a ecosystem the main difference in the eco system for the r5 and r9 is the r5 does not have Bluetooth. So at the moment only wheels that can be used with the r5 are the ES and the FSR (super king Kong Kamehameha badass GT F1 wheel). Moza also offers a quick release so you can have your own wheel if you want. They sell their own or it's same has the NRG automotive quick release. You can even find knock offs on Ebay for 30$.
