HAPPY DECEMBER 20TH EVERYONE!!! Instead of participating in Vlogmas this year, i'll be dedicating all my December uploads to THRIFTMAS! I'll be posting daily vlogs in the lead up to Christmas, and i'll only be posting about THRIFT SHOPPING!!! Videos like.... Thrift flip, thrift haul, thrift with me, thrift makeover, thrift store challenge, Christmas thrift, anything and everything I can think of to get into the holiday spirit while keeping costs low and keeping my consumption sustainable!
In todays episode, I head out plant shopping with my husband to pick up some rare plants - then we go out thrift shopping and my husband picks my outfits for me! We also dye my hair pink using Tintation in Rose Gold, and i'm so happy to finally have pink hair again!!!

Can I just say how much I love when people are receptive and responsive to how their animals are feeling? The fact that both Dan and Alex immediately recognised that Archie was scared and Dan was like 'you gotta take the shoes off' was honestly so precious 😍
My cat is scared of any and all shoes being worn, so I felt that! Poor Archie!

It's really nice to hear that from a stranger. I do the same thing. They have nothing to gain from telling you something looks good so it's an honest opinion which is exactly what you need! :)
It makes me happy when people do that. As someone with body dismorphia and self doubt it gives the little confidence boost I need at times :)
The “humidifier” is a diffuser for essential oils BUT you can totally use it as humidifier it’s just not as strong, or won’t put as much mist out.
Yep works great for my calatheas! I keep them grouped and very similar diffuser sits in the middle and helps with humidity
I would think a diffuser could just be a tiny humidifier if you don't put the oils in.
If you do use it for essential oils, please look into which essential oils are safe for Archie! Parrots can be very sensitive
Exactly. I have one similar to that and I just use it as a little bedside humidifier at night.
PLEASE NOTE!!!! IF YOU HAVE PETS! You need to be careful which oil you put in!!!!
Eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, cinnamon, citrus, peppermint, pine, wintergreen, and ylang ylang are straight up toxic to pets.
I know birds can be extra sensitive too. So water might be the best bet!

So I've had pink hair for about ten years. No job I've ever had questioned it, no on really cared. I felt very me with it.
This year I started teacher training and was told to change it immediately. So I've spent 4 months hating my reflection, cause it doesn't look like me.
This video somehow has made me go and buy a blonde wig for school, and message my hairdresser that I'm going back to pink 😂
I had the same thing happen to me, on teaching rounds they told me that I wouldn't be able to get a job with unnatural coloured hair. Fast forward a few years and I'm a teacher who has had blue, green, pink, purple and orange hair. The kids love it. Attitudes are slowly changing. Stay pink!

I work at a science museum and do educational shows and workshops with schools and the students always love my colourful hair. Such a dumb rule. Kids will respect you if you treat them with respect.
I have had blue, pink, purple, violet, turquoise and magenta (yesss all of those at the same time) since 2012. I can not for the love of me, imagine my self with ""normal"" hair again, it wouldn't be me. Luckly i have jobs that are make up and hair and the principal one is Graphic Design but i work from home.
@@AdaFerreyra honestly my self confidence plummeted when I had to change it. But I was told I could get kicked off my course 😢 I've had ten years working in so many different industries and never before have any cared.
This series was truly a wonderful idea, and it has helped me tremendously coping with this year's exhausting and depressing December. Thank you Alex. Also, never apologize again for your hair not looking 100 percent. We're all human, and dyed hair takes a lot of maintenance (speaking as a bluehaed :))

This video is so precious. It seems like Dan is gradually getting more comfortable around the camera now. He also picked out some really lovely clothes for you. That batwing top was glorious, just so aesthetically pleasing. Oh and the green jumpsuit was awesome too, it's such a lovely colour on you and will go amazing with both your natural red and your current pink hair

Same!! I have always hated wearing shoes without socks. TMI I think but due to some bizarre medical condition I recently developed, I now break out in terrible hives if I wear shoes without socks, so I can finally have an "excuse" to do what I've always already preferred doing lol. All hail socks!

with thrift stores, it depends on where you are situated. where i grew up we had shitty hippy clothes that looked like they were from the 60's and 70's, and where I live now they have some decent things and its worth going thrifting.

That shade of pink with the ginger roots is the most genuinely gorgeously ethereal combo, and it looks SO good with your skintone I'm so envious!
Alex!! You could layer a sweater under the black strappy jumpsuit and it’ll be more wearable so you don’t have to worry about movement/slipping out. It might pair really well with a pastel or jewel toned turtleneck or mock turtleneck sweater :) thanks for all the thriftmas episodes and the hard work that goes into them!

lets be honest im completely for the black outfit the stocking brought it all together, the black jumpsuit was very cute but way out of my comfort zone, the dark green jumpsuit was to die for. I'll go for any outfit with a boot cut they will forever be my spirit style.

That “humidifier “ is a diffuser lol. It doesn’t charge, it will need to be plugged in. Also you use essential oils for scent in the water. ;) I have a huge diffuser that use 24/7.
humidifiers aren't that healthy unless you use distilled water, cause normal, hard water is not good for breathing in, also cause it contains bacteria etc., adding essential oils makes the particles of it get into the lungs, which is not good either :((

Nope, depending on if I am working or not. If I am not working I am just eying it and dont want it close. if I am working (makeup artist mainly on small film sets) I try to make sure it stays as far away from me as possible because god dogs smell bad and I don't trust them around my stuff.

No green plant want direct sunlight, so windowsill might burn them. However, if you have some very thin/fine curtains it might help.
That's just direct sunlight, if you put it a bit into the room that's perfect.
In seasons with little sun you should have them in direct sunlight, but keep an eye on them.

19:28 Um...Isn't that a cornucopia (American thanksgiving thing that goes on the table)? Update: it is a Murano glass cornucopia($250 I don't know if it's the same one though). It's not a shell Alex. I'm sorry.
Yeah, I just came across an identical design on ebay that was a Murano glass cornucopia, but upon looking on google images I can't find the exact color variant she found, but I found the identical color pattern, but on a taller (stretched looking) version of the design. This color pattern appears to be called 'Amethyst and Clear'. This design is also popular in a bright red (full down to the 'tail' part, not a gradient) and a dark blue in the same design as the red. I'm also seeing orange ones, and one white one with a dark green opening/inside top. There seem to be quite a few varients on the design itself as well, ranging from fully horizontal to completely vertical, as well as differences in length, and how 'textured' the glass is.
