HAPPY DECEMBER 9TH EVERYONE!!! Instead of participating in Vlogmas this year, i'll be dedicating all my December uploads to THRIFTMAS! I'll be posting daily vlogs in the lead up to Christmas, and i'll only be posting about THRIFT SHOPPING!!! Videos like.... Thrift flip, thrift haul, thrift with me, thrift makeover, thrift store challenge, Christmas thrift, anything and everything I can think of to get into the holiday spirit while keeping costs low and keeping my consumption sustainable!
In todays video I head out to my local thrift stores to buy Christmas decorations, and then I head to the largest Salvos in Sydney - the Tempe location! I couldn't believe how many decorations I found, and i'm SO HAPPY with how my tree looked on day 2!!!

My cat just sits under my tree and sleeps so i do have glass ornaments but he does try eat the tree 😂
Glass ones at the top, plastic on the bottom! My cats have never toppled the tree, but they are very good at hitting and breaking the lower hanging ones. This was the perfect way for us to still use the beautiful glass ornaments!
I didn't put ornaments on my tree this year because I got a puppy a few months ago and I don't want her swallowing the little metal hangers that hang the ornaments. I can't take any risks.
Or have real Christmas trees or tinsel, back when my 2 fur babies were alive, one loved eating plants, th other loved eating tinsel....Christmas was stressful!🤣

My grandmother has the matching espresso coffee cup, milk jug, coffee pot and sugar bowl set to that vase. She bought them in 1959. So your horcrux is pretty old 🙂
It is so strange to me seeing all the traditional winter Christmas decorations and remember that in Australia right now it is summer lol.
It's honestly a little annoying to mostly see winter Christmas decorations here in Aus. Personally I would prefer more summer styled decorations and some places have slowly introduced those.
But I have a surfing Santa that's about 40cm high, that I leave out all year because he also looks like a member of ZZ Top.
@@AccaDC1 I would want that too, like a kind of palm tree Christmas tree rather than a fur tree.
As an aussie, it's honestly just how it's always been here...all the Christmas decos have always been winter themed, and I can't remember ever thinking it weird in all my years😆. It's really only been the last few years we've started seeing summer/beach/aussie themed Christmas stuff here.

When the tree fell over, all I could think was, "Oh no! Did the little mushroom make it?!" And was relieved when it did 😂💗🍄

So I believe Alex actually got the story wrong. Maccas tried to sue a small, family owned place that had a similar burger name to the Big Mac and lost the lawsuit. Hungry Jacks made the Big Jack to mock them and I think that’s even funnier.

Alex is right McDonald's are sueing Hungry Jack's, they filed a lawsuit a couple of months ago...but your also right, McD's has sued several small businesses over the years...Google their lawsuits, apparently even if you were born a McDonald you aren't allowed to use your own name in relation to food 🤔
That's only one of many pathetic things they've sued for over the years...
Back in 2013 Hungry Jacks also tried to sue a small business on the NSW Central Coast, over the use of the word "WHOPPER". A family owned take away food place at Wamberal has been making a burger called "The Wambie Whopper" for.what seems like forever...H.J's took umbrage. Court case ensued, W.W. won, because they could prove their burger is, indeed, a whopper and the social media campaign in support of W.W. was incredible....in the end, H.J's dropped the lawsuit, mostly because of the adverse publicity.
I guess this was a lesson in how not to piss off the loyal customers of a family owned, very popular local business. Just because they are a big corp doesn't always mean they are right. They can't just bully their way into getting what they want...at least not in this particular case. In the end, common sense, social media, and some loss of revenue, prevailed...

We have those lizards in south east Europe too. My dad had one as a backyard friend and he kamikazed himself into a pot of soup. So yeah, those lizards have an existential crisis

Putting the glass baubles in the pretty box is fair enough, on a non-carpeted floor I wouldn’t trust them hanging either, regardless of tree quality.
I absolutely love thrifting and I can't thrift at the moment bc covid cases are still high here in France so it's nice to watch your videos and feel like I am by proxy!

I’m recycling my decor from last year but I did get new tree it was thrifted and I took a chance on it because it was in its box but I didn’t know if all the parts were there or if the lights worked but it was a 9.5 ft tall slim tree for $12.50 at goodwill so I took it and it works hallelujah it’s glorious and so tall and I put pink , white and silver bobble on it with a light pink beaded garland and I made big bows for it that are white with snowflakes. Uggh so dreamy this tree . Best $12.50 I ever spent.
Gotta admit... I was definitely dubious about your thriftmas instead of vlogmas idea at first (not exactly sure why tbh) but I AM OBSESSED! Especially as a broke af university student and as someone who is trying to be more conscious of my ecological impact by masking small but important changes 🤩

These videos are honestly one of the only things keeping me somewhat sane at the moment. I’m in a really bad situation at home with only my dad to turn to when my mental health gets really bad, even then I can’t really talk to him without it affecting his relationship with his girlfriend and her sons (the people that have made my situation so difficult) so life is very lonely. I won’t really get to celebrate my birthday (20th december) or christmas this year with since no one wants me around, so I’m living through you vicariously and pretending I’m surrounded by wonderful friends that actually love and care about me. I’m sorry for this comment to be a sad (and probably unnecessarily deep) one, but youtube comments have become pretty much the only place I can talk about how I feel.

It is the same with me and French, I learned in school and now I barely know anything, but I want to learn French again. Some time I will do it and I am sure you can do it, too. As I said, I am always happy when someone who is not „native German“ speaks German. Honestly it is not the easiest and most favourite language but somehow it makes me happy when people start to invest time in German culture. :)
