- The Skye Trail on the Isle of Skye is an 80 mile multi day hike through some of the most breathtaking scenery the world has to offer. The trail is often unmarked and precarious, it's also exposed to the ever changing weather so experience in hiking and navigation is essential. 👇👇👇

Never change hazy, love the inner voice ramblings because we all have them.😂
I’ll do my best mate 🫡
Indeed
I have always been into long distance hiking.
I used to be able to carry the kitchen sink and walk forever... well, 30 miles wasn't unknown.
For the first time, last month, on The Ridgeway of all places - undulating easiness - I had to accept that I am not the girl I was.
The rain had muddied and rutted the trail. I slipped, slid and trudged. I had planned for an average of 15 miles a day and the weather had put me behind. Not only that, but I was aching - *panadol with caffeine works wonders - no spon.😉
On the third day I thought "What is the point of this?". So, I rocked up at an inn; got myself a room; showered (thrice) and strew my kit across the floor to dry.
Then, I gave myself three more days by switching the train journey home.
I stopped two nights at a campsite to do my laundry and have a rest day. The pub was visited (twice).
I am jealous of your youth. But, I am retired, so there will be many a young lad or lass who are jealous of my 'time'.
I believe we all have to spend our youth and time, wisely.
Skye is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. May/June is the best time to go - more chance of sunshine and fewer midgies and tourists.
Next year, God willing, I might pop back. My 'kitchen sink' is lighter and I have time.
do you really like it ?? i dont understand what people see in skye at all . its so bleak up here. Id swap for the ridgeway anyday. i loved living on the ridgeway. I also envy you thinking about hiking rather than ww3 and all the tyranny we are being corralled into . How are you so cheery ?
Best wishes; sounds like you know how to adapt.
I know the feeling, I'm 44 and went through stage 2 aggressive cancer a few years back, let's just say it's an absolute struggle just cutting my lawn...I've moved on to kayak fishing and camping as I can sit down in my kayak and it's been a life saver, without that I would be in a really bad place.
@@AMG63 Any recommendations for good places to Kayak? 😁 wishing you all the best :) ❤
@@AMG63 I broke my back when I was 20 years of age. After two years of immobility, surgical procedures, spinal corsets and physio-terrorism, it was time to walk again. I haven't stopped since.
I remember rolling my eyes when people used to say "All you need is your health", but it is SO true.
Live as large as you can and keep buggering on. Wishing you the best of health.
You have surpassed yourself. This video was the most like actually being there with you as a mate that you ever done.
And more like real life in terms of being there with you than any video or TV I have ever seen.
As a hiker in my younger days, at 78, with only memories, I understand so many comments about how you make us all feel like we are there with you, Haze. Bless ya
You were saying Jesse could be mad, doing mad things. Then he watches this and you talk about being a lemming or lobbing people off cliffs 😂
“This is Scotland. No paths” Thank you for giving us that 💕
As a member of Mountain Rescue I thank you for your decision making. As a fellow mountain Hooman I thank you for your joy at being blown about by the winds and the inner child we all have coming to the surface. Stay true to that inner joy. big man hug Hazy.
I've often had an inner voice telling me to jump when I'm at height, it's not a suicidal thing, it's just there. I once stuck my finger in a fan because of the same thing, it didn't bleed for long. 😂
These are just intrusive thoughts that many people have and it has more to do with anxiety, I think.
That is the funniest comment ever😂😂 hope your finger fully recovered 😅
Man I appreciate the honesty so much man it’s so damaging people thinking they’re alone with these things, we all have little mad moments, it’s what makes us human.
@@susanlambert8164 it did😂
actually has a name . HHP. high place phenomenon. 😮❤
I must say a big thankyou haze, I was a big walker and spent 27 year in the army so I have walked a lot, but these days I find myself walking shorter distances due to my knees and back not working like the did when I was younger, but still I live my walks through you and your vids. So once again I thank you.
Cheers a fellow Yorkshire man
Absolutely stunning bud and your happiness is infectious, I don't think the smile left my face from start to end🙏🏻💪🏻
That’s lovely to hear mate thank you 🙏
I’ve been a scuba diver for 40+ years now - floating over a reef wall is the underwater equivalent of what you’re seeing here, with one exception called gravity. I get that urge when standing near the edge of ridges, I just have to remember I can’t ‘float’ when on land
14:40 "Absentmindedness leads to logged-offedness." 😁You're the best, Haze. Your videos have brought me many smiles over these past few difficult years. Thank you.
You’re an inspiration. I think you may underestimate your impact. Thank you! 🙏🏼
Was waiting for the Golden Eagles to appear - had my best ever experience with a Golden Eagle on that ridge. Two were cycling with the Cuillin Mountains as a back drop.
Then the one flew along the scarp just 30 feet away and level with me, as he passed he turned his head towards me then did a dive like a brick, then back up again.
I felt he was saying "Watch this Mate !" - an unforgettable experience.
Yes being in the great outdoors, especially on multi-day trips is good for us. All best Hazey
Sounds incredible mate! I’m so glad I got to see them 🦅
Haze, can you tell me how you're getting such good sound in that much wind? You can hear all the wind, but your voice is clear, and the mic isn't being overpowered. Most folk out recording in wind end up with massive peaking, and their voice drowned out. Curious how you do it, while keeping your pack light.
"I'm having a piss mate, don't look" not the start to a video I expected!
😂
Mr Hazy
Part 2, fabulous scenery. The night time-lapse breath taking...makes you think about how we are so insignificant in the big scheme. You put a good shift in. Good for the mind, body and soul....TGO....
Thanks again for the time and effort in getting these videos out there....
Excellent.
Thank you mate. Very much appreciated
When I was a bread snapper at school, we always spent our summer hols in Scotland. All the other kids went to Spain or Ibiza and came back with a nice tan. We came back a whiter shade of pale, but at least we were "windswept and interesting", as The Big Yin put it.
Stunning views and brilliant to come along on this journey with you Hazey. My favourite piece though in all this footage was around 35min with the slightly sped up footage and music and the drone shots of you walking, looking over t’edge, that was just wonderful editing. ❤🙂 Brought back memories of my short time in Portree but most certainly inspired me to return.
Came from your TikTok account.
Great first video mate. Love your authenticity and craic.
Looking forward to more videos and sending love to your and your mam during a difficult time ❤
Thanks mate
I've felt that 'call of the void', myself. Scares the hell out of me sometimes 😆.
On another note... I dont think you realize just how many of us are living vicariously through you because we can not do whqt you're doing, for various reasons. So... thank you SO MUCH for sharing your adventures... and my #1 bucket list location (Scotland)... with all of us ❤️.
Thank you mate. I’m happy you enjoy watching 💚
I agree whole heartedly about deviating from the path when its obviously dangerous. Stay away from cliff edges
This video is an excellent example of your work. I hope it goes viral for you and boosts the number of your subscribers because you deserve it.
Thank-you for going all the way back to the Isle of Skye for us (after the incident). You made the right decision. Great energy. Great to see you on the top of the world. Good on you mate.
This is one of your best so far love. Trying to search the music but failing. Who is it? Please. cheers so much.
I have the same thing with the heights, it's intrusive thoughts. The strong compulsion to do something is an indication of how much you really don't want to do it. You'll get thoughts about doing negative things towards people or things that are dear to you. I think it might be stronger in people with a creative spirit, an open mind etc. It's just an indication of a good heart.
Also known as a Complete Clempton.
What the hell are you using for a mic in that wind on the edge, audio was bang on.
Class buddy🙏
Mate…..I cried…..I’m so stoked to see you absolutely thriving on this trip. Long May it continue. Cheers from the hairy arsed (former) bootneck 🍻
Thank you sir 🫡
Glad to see you so alive (09:02).
Great work mate.
You do know he's a dino nerd...
One of the last true wildernesses in the UK. So pleased that this section got you pumped and made you feel alive! It’s a proper buzz. I stopped at the Old Man, so will look forward with interest to the following chapters! All the best pal 🙌🙏
Just love your thought process and adventures!
Thanks mate
Superb job Hazey! I had sweaty palms there a few times! I have done a few ridge walks, but the London eye did me over, when it got to 12 o clock, maybe because its a man made thing, and you have no control over it.
I feel you mate. And also how embarrassing to die on the London eye?!
Your definitely not the only one pal that's been going on with me for years, you know you've got a problem though when you do it on your balconies on holiday x
Absolutely brilliant scenery on this one bro. I’m from NZ and wee have plenty of places that are primal and wild too. So get where you are comming from as they are the best.
Much aroha. 🇳🇿🤪🇳🇿
The call of the void... in reverse! 😂 Mate, I hope if we ever cross paths on the hills it's never beside a void! 🤣
Sky is lovely, the cuillens are amazing...excuse the spelling
🤣🤣🤣 the smell bit @ 29mins.... I've just finished a two and half day hike around the North York Moors on Saturday, "The Crosses Walk" and when I got back to civilisation in Goathland, I told my missus that the thing that stood out the most was all the people lathered in way too much fragrance and done up like they were going on a night out....felt surreal after a few days up on't moors
"Just a golden eagle mate.. that's all.. " epic. Keep doing you lad. Unscramble that noodle. Peace and love.
love the insites into your thoughts. about the pushing thoughts lol. thoughts have ripples!
Just a beautiful video! What a surreal landscape.
When I'm climbing trees in the woods I sometimes look down and think, I could stick the landing if I jumped!
Hazy, you make my noodle calm, thank you brother 🙏👍
Love the ramblings. Even more than the rambling!
There’s a slogan in there somewhere
Ah man, that looks class. Those vistas! Got me thinking about those dinos now as well. Gan canny bro
Does anyone know what those four circles in the sea were? I'm assuming fishing nets? Great video Hazey! Thank you. It's obvious you needed time "off leash", as you put it. Love it when the wind is blowing, like it was at the top, it's so raw, untamed nature. Was your face sun burned, or wind burned? Both? Awesome that you were connecting with the dinosaurs of Skye, the Isle transported you into its history, some places are good at that. I found places in Arizona that did it to me; cliff dwellings, ancient ghost towns way up in the mountains. Looking forward to the next video. Have a wonderful week.
They were fish farms and I was very much sun burnt with a touch of wind burn 🤣
@@HazeOutdoors Thanks for the response, those circles had me curious. And, I know people are trippin' about sunscreen, but, Melanoma is no joke. Much Love, have an awesome week.
You know what Hazey mate I've missed this long hike banter
Brilliant...keep doing it while the wheels fall off
This is the best video you’ve done for ages , keep it up .
I appreciate that thank you
About the dinosaurs, go to the Staffin Dinosaur museum if you’ve not already! The owner has collected majority of items himself, lots of other ancient things too!
Pure joy love the video
Really enjoyed this fella! Great views and chat! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I'm on the skye trail in a few weeks time so massively looking forward to it now 👍🏼
Enjoy it mate! It’s a classic
What. A. Ridge. Other-worldly. It knackered me out too. Well done sir 🫡 and also for not jumping off…
Not jumping off is a win in my book
im doing this trail one day for sure. need to brush up on navigation first though me thinks, do some smaller trails first
Didn’t know about this trail, just ordered a guidebook and will have a go at it later in the year or maybe next. Inspirational series, back to your best with this
Loved the explanation of the geology! And the joy at the trig point! There's more joy to come looking at the comments.
I appreciate that thank you
Dinosaur combo was like the fast show..’weren’t Dinosaurs Brilliant’….
I did that cycling with my eyes closed as a kid, hands off the handlebars...only I ran into the back of a campervan and dropped by boy junk onto the crossbar... thankfully just bruises resulted...I didn't do it again 🤣
Loved your cwt vids and was inspired so i done it in April 2023, also in 15 days. Was planning on doing this trial next April so this is brilliant mate! Absolutely love it!!
Admire your stamina mate, bloody fully impressed with how you keep going mile after mile. Magnificent scenery and I'm thoroughly enjoying your channel. Cheers from South Australia 😊
excellent. nice watching someone who can articulate their thoughts and feelings so naturally. you know yourself very well mate 👍
I feel seen 🥹😂

Ah I took the other trail from the top of the Storr. Missed Old man of Storr but the views were great. Some absolute units to climb though. If I ever do it again (absolutely) I will do the other route. Great as always Hazy.
Outstanding episode! Start to finish absolutely bang on.
Thanks mate 💚
It’s call High Place Phenomenon (HPP)
Gosh I’m loving this series 🙌🙌 so good Haze the isle sky looks so dang stunning 😍
That emotional time at the top. Awesome. Had the same feeling at top of Ben Hope.
As always a great video Hazy, I also have those crazy brain thoughts about pushing someone or what would happen if I just threw myself off. Glad you said it so it doesn't make feel like some psychopath. Stay safe mate!
The call of the void....it's an actual thing!! WHY?? Loving following you on the journey, just stay well away from those cliff edges.
I know!? Like why is it even a thing 😂
Can just imagine a dinosaur rocking up to the cafe at the viewpoint and ordering a pot noodle.
A new hazy video. What a great start to the day 🎉
Ok, so totally engrossed, got to map time and had to pause the video to comment. What an absolute belter of a video, the editing was top notch and you seem like a new man. Total respect dude 🤜.
I need to go. The place looks like heaven.
im the same, when im doing long drives alone i have me thoughts saying close your eyes, look away from the road, see how long you can last
🤣 it’s bonkers mate
@@HazeOutdoors init just 🤣 I put it down to needing more adrenaline rushes. Cliff diving etc
We were hiking in the Ochills near Stirling (doing our own bit o recording) about the time you did this, and we had the exact same thought... we kept passing people who smelt of... civilisation... I smelt of stream bathing and butterflies, honest!
“I’m going to get in to dinosaurs” that line had me crying 😂 love you Hazey you’re ace, what would we do without you epic content! Bravo 👏🏻 loved this video thank you ☺️
Wow
Did this a few years ago solo and really want to go back with some mates soon 👌
Ah someone else who thinks about dinosaurs when roaming the mountains. I often listen to the Jurassic park album while walking and imagine what it was like when the dinosaurs were around, that extra sensory input makes a walk in the hills so much different.
*downloads Jurassic park album*
You had me at wiping your lanshan down first thing on an early damp morning.
I know that too well.
Keep on doing you!!!
Love Maptime!
I know what you mean about the Heights I have the same thing up close to the edge and I’m just drawn to jump then I remember I can’t fly. And as for the winter Weight I just say I’m built for survival not for fashion 😅
How you do these Timelapse mates they stunning would love a tutorial
One of your best. You seem too be in a Good place just now.
Absolutely love your videos, fills me with joy seeing you experience these places i will never see x thank you
You’re more than welcome mate and thank you 🙏
Lovely.
Old Man of Stor reminds me of Obelixs menhir he carries around.
Love it mate! Love the thought trails you talk about. Honestly we all have those! I laughed out loud thinking about dinosaurs walking there. What a thought! You are truly a refreshing chap to watch. Thanks mate for keeping it real.
Thanks mate
Absolutely amazing
Another banger, I can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos.
What's the folk song you used throughout? I really like it but can't seem to find it.
Stunning! The scenery is just fantastic! I quite like ridge walking when there's a bit of height / exposure. Lovely video.
Thank you. It’s a stunning part of the trail
that was a 5 or 6 iron at most mate.
Loved that Hazy - but gonna admit to being slightly disappointed in the lack of stacking it into the boggy-mc-bogmyrtle section 🤣 it's not just us you've let down, it's yourself 😂 Looking forward to the next episode, and loving seeing the trusty Lanshan out and about. Weird that out of all the gear you own the old Lanny has made the grade for the expedition
Wonderful!
It’s a wonderful place isn’t it?!
The video is wonderful! (As well as the place of course) 😍
An absolute pleasure to watch Paul, as always. Mega shift, epic location 👊❤️
Danny Mcaskill rode his mountain bike over the Cullen ridge !!
I never worry about falling in the mountains, it's the landing that concerns me !
Mcaskill is a legend!
Absolutely loved this carnt wait for next leg ❤
Great video...well done on the sound quality even when it was windy.
Hazy you are at your best . What a brilliant video!!! Top form !!!
Belter - Sunday evening chuckles
Absent Mindness - leads to log offness 😁😁😁
To funny man
Keep them coming Hazy 🏴🤙 deano
That deserves a t-shirt💕
Beautiful.
