I wanted to wait until the end before complimenting you on a really lovely video but at Camasunary Bay I just had to comment. What you said about your ups and downs struck me , I feel for you in this, I’ll just say, don’t be afraid to stop, sit down, lie down, take the thinking out of it. Just give yourself up to the sound, the wind , the light, the moment. Breath. Get the environment on your side. Don’t just do it. Be it. I love Skye, I know it from land and sea. I will always go back. This is one of the best Scottish videos I have seen. You are so good at this ! Thank you.

I still have 30ish minutes to go, but I'm at the part where you come across the beach with strewn plastic and fishing boat waste. It reminded me of being on Stewart Island/Rakiura in New Zealand - almost as far as you can go without reaching Antarctica. There was plastic on the beaches there too - mostly fishing waste. It blew my mind that it was a national park almost at the bottom of the world, and we couldn't escape this reminder of human interaction with nature. So sad to think plastic is going to be the artifact of future archeologists and will outlast us all.

That's quite a journey, Abbie. Walking the whole of the Trotternish Ridge in one day is no mean feat, and then there was all the rest, too. Kudos!
Unfortunately (and I wish I didn't have to say it), not all of the rubbish around the island is deposited by the tides. I live on Skye, and can report that some of the roadsides are utterly strewn with trash. My partner and I picked up several binloads in one afternoon round the North end of Trotternish. Is it locals who do this ,or tourists? Everyone speculates, but no-one seems to ever see anyone actually doing it. Fortunately, the island is big enough and epic enough to remain wild and beautiful despite this problem, but as you say it's about awareness and people needing to look at things differently.
It's good, what you do. Keep going... 😎

Hi Abbie, I can honestly say I didn't envy you on this extreme hiking journey, it was too wild and exposed for me even if I was young and able., and you risked getting your eye poked out or falling off a rocky edge. Definitely a no go area for me.

Beautiful as always. You brought tears to my eyes looking at the garbage, immense sadness in my heart. TH-camrs “living the Skye Life” did a cleanup soon after moving to Skye. If we all can do our bit, there is hope. Over 50 years ago I started my own environmental journey cleaning oil off of seabirds near Santa Barbara. For awhile I lived consciously raising my own food. Now with health issues that is no longer my life. But watching you, being inspired by you, I can share my awarenesses with others. Thank-you for your own sharing. Hope is real.

Thankyou so much for this wonderful video Abbie. I'm an Isle of Skye native, born and bred but living in Singapore for the last 20 years. You really brought me back home for a short while. The squelching bogs, the peat coloured water, the sheep, the cows, the old ruined houses. I could really smell and taste the places of my childhood. And of course the stunning mountains, the cliffs, the sea views that I'm so familiar with. You were brave tackling it in April but luck was on your side and you really got the most amazing weather!
I have to get back and do the trail some day

Hello Abbie and thanks for another great film, it took me a while to find a couple of hours to sit down and watch. I followed your route on a mud stained OS map - a memento of my attempt at walking in the Cuillins in which I stood on what I thought was firm ground and sank up to my knee in bog water!
During the same holiday I also cam across a rubbish strewn beach to the North of Dunvegan. The plastic looked like it had come off of shipping - industrial sized containers with labelling in different languages. The blue plastic tray you zoomed in on has Dutch writing on it and I think there was a €10 refundable deposit for returning it. But it still ended up in the sea

Dear Abbie. Thank you very much for your yet again fantastic video. I have been watching your channel quite sometime and I love it to bits it’s really inspiring and (since I am familiar with mental problems you are facing more than I would like to) I am very grateful for your presence too. I think that your videos about nature and outdoors is one of the best available around.
You have touched a very sad and heart breaking subject of plastic pollution that suffocates our planet. Yes, you are absolutely right, unless WE ALL do something about it nothing is going to change. Yes, you are correct, you are not going to die if you don’t eat grapes packed in foil and plastic. But I don’t think it’s that easy. You see - when you have stopped at Elgin for a break you had a coffee. In a single use cup. Similar to those you found on the beach the day before. You did have your normal camping mug that you could’ve use but automatically you took a single use cup offered by the shop. Please don’t get me wrong. This is not criticism. It just shows you that plastic pollution is extremely difficult subject that is very much ingrained in our everyday behaviour and routines.
Keep up the good work and keep safe out there.

Great vid, and bringing back Memories,. We did the same walk from Elgol, to Camasunary, then around to Loch Coruisk and back to Elgol. That was over 40yrs ago,
The Rubbish on the beach, was just as bad then. The house was an old mountain hut. Also there was bowling green flat, green grass littered with rabbit holes, some times, you could see as may as 30 rabbits at a time grazing. The boats at Elgol, take tourist to Loch Coruisk, They built a landing jetty, at loch Coruisk end, and now an easy walk to the loch, in a spectacular surroundings. 😊

I hope to be equally lucky with the weather when I walk the trail in May. Great pictures and a fantastic film. The plastic-infested beaches are heartbreaking. By the way, every cheap sandwich wrapped in plastic also contributes to this.

    @Karen-dq8nw 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Wonderful film! so sad about those plastic covered beaches. What a shock for you in such a beautiful place. I tried a while back to give up all plastic, but found it impossible. Just about every ordinary thing we use - shampoo, cleaning products, food packages, appliances, even clothing - what to do? I kept wondering, what did my parents used to do? They grew up in a time when there was no plastic, and got along fine without. I don't take plastic bags from the grocery store; I reuse my own. Choosing simply to just consume less will help, of course, but turning back the clock, I don't know. We have a problem, a. big one. I wish we could relegate the use of plastic to only the essentials - medical supplies, for example. Somehow, we must do something.

I can't believe the weather you had Abbie, you were so lucky. I've got one of those dustbin stones, essential on the Aberdeenshire coast too. Thoroughly enjoyed your lovely film, thank you.

Hi Abbie, this route was just beautiful, and inspiring as always. But I must say the littered beach was the one that got me. It broke my heart, I cried. We are such a stupid species.

❤ Congratulations Abbie, on an incredible hike. I've just stopped at 1 hour 25, and I'm going to return here later rewatch, listen and jot notes. My anti- anxiety Self Talk only goes so far. Your wòrds 'pushing past fear' lifted and motivated me, and really, are a light 💡for me as I understood what you were feeling and why.
Opening shots of day 3 were glorious! Those lakes were beautiful ! Onwards!

What an incredible adventure. Your filming always inspires me to get outside. Truly Lord of the Rings like you said!! I really feel like you bring such a realness to outdoorsy TH-cam, instead of being overly saccharine you actually document the highs and lows and make me feel like I'm actually on the hike with you! Thanks for another wonderful and entertaining upload. Cheers!

Wild campsite day 1 - I had exactly the same spot :) Great views! PS I was hiking and possibly retracing your steps Skye Trail, in June, in a middle of a heat wave. Uff, was hot but the trail itself - epic! Thank you Abbie for taking me back there :)

Awesome Abbie! I walked the trail back in 2019 and it was amazing, even though the weather was torrential walking though Sligachan. I couldn't believe the amount of plastic washed up on the beach. Back in 2019 it had been cleaned up by volunteers we met. So sad to see it back in this state.

So glad that bothy at the beginning is still there. I have fond memories of setting up a HAM radio station in it. I made my first contact into Asia there. Lovely place to watch the sea and distant isles.
