- The South Downs Way is a long distance footpath and bridleway running along the South Downs in southern England. The trail runs for 100 miles (160 km) from Winchester in Hampshire to Eastbourne in East Sussex, with about 4,150 meters of ascent and descent. Join me as I witness some beautiful skies, meet some inspirational people and try to navigate yet another heatwave. Those thistles tugged my heartstrings and brought back a great memory of my oldest son who we lost 5 years ago. When he was about 3 we were on a country walk and I pointed out the fluffy seeds, blowing in the wind and told him, “that’s thistle down.” He replied, “no Mum, it’s thistle up “ Great video as always. Another great video Haze, I am 64 and always been a hiker but only really started wildcamping about ten years ago, your walk to Cape Wrath was an inspiration for me, wish I was 30 years younger. Keep up the good walk mate.

I was one of the many shitsacks at BoomTown this year and knowing you were doing this walk and would be passing by at somepoint was thoroughly amusing to me! spared you a thought now and again wondering how you were getting on in the heat...it was really was bloody hot!
My step counter said I covered 105 miles from Wednesday through to Monday morning, a bumbag full of electrolytes of sorts sure helped!

You've left me feeling very old. I walked the South Downs way back in 1982, when I was 12 years old, with a couple of school mates. However back then the entire part you've walked in this video didn't get added on till much later. Good times and clap clap clap if you know what I mean.

Lovely area the South downs way, walked it once myself. Some places are a bit funny about wild campers, get off my land types but it's a beautiful part of the world, glad you got round to it.

And an ale in glass that took me back to being a kid, when my auntie, from Doncaster who lived in Bath used to give us orange juice in glasses with similar designs on. I’ve ridden the South Downs. Some brutally steep hills, but is a great route, loads of water taps 😉 and well signposted. Mint

I always enjoy your videos but this one was a special treat as it's more or less home turf for me. I really hope you enjoyed the rest of the South Downs Way, it is maybe a bit tame in the Hampshire parts, and obviously it's hard to compete with the majestic landscape of your usual stomping grounds in the North, but I think there's some really breathtaking scenery in the parts further east.
