First a smile then a tear, growing up in the 50 s we had a neighbor next door that let all the kids use his front yard to play baseball, football, tag or just hang out, he had health problems with his back, he was happy to see us playing and I never forgot him. Thanks for making my day
We had two retired teachers that had a corner lot so it was bigger to play football on. He had only one rule any football ending up in her s backyard was his. That was where his and his wife's garden were and he didn't want us trampling them. The fun part at Christmas some of us would get a football. Slightly used of coarse. They were great.
The way the kid thought he was annoying people with his dribbling is so relatable. He seems incredibly socially aware, and you can't teach that, it comes from being raised right. Good for him and his family. I sincerly hope he makes it.
Raising/teaching children are intertwined. Every child can be taught to be socially aware and considerate. You certainly CAN teach that. I wish somebody would teach me how to not be a pedant ....
While I completely agree, being raised is being taught. The boy has good parents making him a good kid. They taught him to be socially considerate. No toddler is socially considerate.
It could also be interpreted as him being too self-conscious, and a people pleaser. You see this a lot with young men who do not have a Father. Either way, this kind of support would hopefully sort out any self-esteem issues, and reinforce good behavior that people notice. The boy inspires something in others, just by being himself, that is amazing.
Seriously. I grew up being told that being good got you nowhere in life. Boy did I have a hard lesson to learn. Now at 30, and as a parent of my own, I see I was raised very poorly and I'm lucky I had a good on head on my shoulders. My kids are gonna learn this lesson long before I did.
@@MediocreTCG I grew up knowing 2 things, that still stuck to me. 1. Respect others you get respect back, no matter the culture of the person. 2. Never shown respect back. Still show respect, too show you have higher class.
Yeah especially in the USA. Lots of charity going around but actually changing the system is not happening. There's tens if not hundreds of thousands of kids in the USA every year that don't get the opportunity they deserve because of poor education, health system and infrastructure.
I actually wanted to move to Ontario for College hoops, Durham. Was in a car accident the night before my plane, and derailed my plans. This video brings so much joy to my heart, knowing I was making a decision attempting to be around much better people than I experience in the states. I once had a neighbor call the police on me, broad day, for practicing music in the states. These types of videos warm my entire heart, knowing the world is less cruel just a few miles away.
If all communities would show this kind of support to one another this world would be a better place. This is the kind of love that Makes a difference. One day this kid will pay it forward.

We wouldn't be caught up in all these social constructs that keep us divided. This is beautiful. Wow!!! We need more love like this in the world. God bless you. How inspiring. ❤❤❤. Seeing the joy on the young mans face is priceless. 😊
Well... people DO treat each other this way. Constantly. It's main stream media who'd have us believe we hate each other. Of course there's idiotic A-holes all over the place, but they're really a very small minority, enhanced by social media and thoroughly encouraged by a specific malicious few with the power to do so. It's all political manipulation to keep the masses in check. The best way to control a people is by keeping them divided.
That’s called community right there. That’s how you encourage a young man. It shows that his work ethic has been noticed. Takes a special man to help lift up the next generation also.
This reminds me of when I was a kid, looking for a safe place to play basketball with my friends. Seton Hall University had a sports "dome" facility strictly for their students, but we discovered that they would allow neighborhood kids to use the court when it wasn't busy. It kept us safe and off the street. They didn't have to let us in, but that made a big difference for me and a few of my friends. I will never forget that token of kindness.
Study hard young man, keep working hard, practice hard, help your mom and siblings and your dreams to make it in the NBA will come true...make us Canadians proud young man.
I've seen these vids illustrating kindness and generosity. 1000's applaud but I see very few replies like yours, or replies with stories of when they stepped up and helped. Just ignore the trolls. They probably haven't helped anyone so have nothing substantive to add.
So kind of the neighbor to show support instead of anger. Good man. That was the smartest thing to do ever. Encourage that young man so he never forgets those words and stays on the right path. Genius
I think we all need stories like this to counter the nonsense that’s going on. The look on his face was priceless. God bless the neighbors and this family.
I agree 100%. I think it’s really sad when people complain about teenagers bouncing their basketballs outside. The fact that they’re at home is already a good thing. The fact that they’re trying to stay fit is even better. Instead of complaining about kids playing sport maybe the complainers could just put some headphones on. Or go and play ball with the teen.
You know a guy has raw passion for basketball when he’s practicing everyday with no basket. That’s awesome I hope his drive stays at this level and he goes pro

I bet her mom worked hard to afford a good neighborhood for her son to grow up, so… having this neighbor is the way of making her feel like every sacrifice she did is paying now. It is an inspiration for we all.
This is such a blessing to see. It's not just the ball, the goal, or even the money. This young man will always know that people care for him. I love it, I love it!
Carol A. Moore - And I can see this boy in 20 years paying it forward. Coaching other young boys who have dreams of the NBA. This is how a chain of goodness is formed, from one good person to another to another..............

His mother in the background got me, all the effort they put into raising their son and to have it recognise by the whole community via a kind hearted neighbour. Even if he doesn’t make the NBA I hope he makes the HoF in whatever he chooses to do, the work ethic is there for all to see.

I Remember when my neighbor gave me a basketball, his dog (A German Shepherd) ran after me when I was outside and attacked me, and the neighbor felt bad a gave me a basketball.
@@LaRoseDetails I don’t believe Stormrider’s comment are negative at all. The young man was shown an act of compassion by a neighbor and his community. A man and a community of people in which I assume, do not all look look like him, and yet they still rallied to act together in kindness. The power of community is the main takeaway here. The gifts the young boy’s community gave him just may fuel his dream to become a professional athlete, but it will also give him something to remain passionate and focused and possibly help derail him from making life altering bad decisions, running with the wrong crowd, etc. He may indeed make it to play professionally, but if he doesn’t, he will learn important life skills through the game of basketball, teamwork, cohesiveness, interdependence. He may may not make it to the pros, but his love of the game and balling skills just may help him acquire a college degree on either partial or full athletic scholarship. And as an adult basketball could be an outlet of exercise and recreation, many men (former high school or collegiate ballers) continue to hone their athleticism and competitive drive through pick up games after work or on the weekend. Lastly, if he becomes a father, he could share his love of the game with his children. I sincerely hope that the young boy in the video becomes a man and professional baller. But if he doesn’t, I’m sure that he will forever be impacted by the community of people who cared enough for him and encouraged him through a communal act of kindness.
@@LaRoseDetails Not being negative, just being realistic. It's a slim chance to get into the NBA, having the highest hopes isn't always the best thing because it could lead to disappointment.
Watching people treat each other with such kindness and respect brings tears to my eyes. Good Luck you man and thank you for giving him a chance to believe in himself and others.
Absolutely awesome. Brings a tear to my eye. I'm 63, live alone trying to afford to renovate my childhood home. I bought a 28 ft travel trailer to stay in and the economy just pushes the renovation farther and farther out of reach. I moved back home to care for my parents when they got critically ill. Dad died and mom's in the nursing home and some days are a real struggle. Just reach out, be kind to someone. Your face might be the only person that they talk to in a day.
Caregiving/care managing can be such a lonely, overwhelming journey. We don't know the struggles someone is going through, and you're so right that one connection or gesture can have a great impact. I hope you have some of those connections to keep buoying you on your journey. Hang in there sir and best wishes!

Now that's a man, a real man! What he did for this young man is commendable and how adults should treat kids. The kid is awesome too! To both of them, we're so proud of you both!
@Joey Jojo hahahaha. That’s such a New York Johnson Everett Wiggle thing to do. I live here and they’re so overly represented in the legal system that it’s crazy. People don’t do everything things that happen everywhere else because of fear of being sued.
Most of the more severe illnesses happen to people because an upsetting event occurs in their lives taking them by surprise, unexpectedly, impacting first in the brain, then in the corresponding organ which that part of the brain controls. The end of WWI had absolutely everything to do with the Flu and lung TB outbreak that occurred killing millions. In nature, the biological conflict linked with a territorial fear (just what it means-a fear in your territory, your home, your community, etc.) is a widening of the bronchia (tissue loss). Your body attempts to widen your bronchia in order to allow more air into your lungs to give you more strength and energy to fight to keep your territory safe. Stay with me.......The biological conflict linked with a death fright impacts the lungs. The lungs attempt to grow larger in order to allow more air in because breath equals life, as we all know. No breath equals death. While you are in the fear or death fright conflict, you notice no symptoms of “disease”, except you have cold hands, cold feet, you can’t sleep, you awaken at 3 AM every night, you have little appetite. During the war, millions of people were in fear of the bombing of their homes and cities where the war was most active. Fearing for their lives, their loved ones in the war, their ability to survive. The food in the stores was sparse due to shortages. This lasted for 4 long years! The longer the conflict, the worse the healing phase. Within 2 weeks of the German Chancellor announcing the end of WWI, these millions of people ALL went into the healing phase all at the same time. It is during the healing phase that you experience symptoms of illness! What is the healing phase of the bronchia widening? Severe bronchitis, pneumonia. The body attempts to refill this lost tissue and you experience inflammation, fever, coughing, body aches, fatigue, etc. What is the healing phase of the extra lung tissue that grew? Decomposing of the tissue by TB bacteria and fungi. The symptoms of this healing phase are: severe coughing up of blood and tissue, fever, inflammation, severe mucous, body aches, fatigue. During this decomposing of the extra tissue (tumor), the body expels a lot of protein, and without replenishment, severe protein loss can result in death. Antibiotics did not exist yet. If TB bacteria does not exist in a person or they have been vaccinated against TB (big mistake), then the tumor will simply encapsulate and become dormant and not harm you. Who died during the Spanish Flu? Mainly the poor who could not afford to buy meat and proper nourishment, and the people who were directly impacted by the bombings and destruction of their homes. Millions of people suffered fear and death frights during the fighting of WWI, and millions of people all went into healing at the end of it. Not everyone was affected because not everyone suffered the same way. It’s not a “flu”, it’s not something you “catch”. It’s biological, meaningful, and unavoidable. One hundred years later, a Fear Campaign begins, using the media to spread it......
Stop with all this “real man” bs! You don’t hear guys saying, “yeah she finally paid for her half of dinner. She’s a real woman.” Just stop. It’s annoying and I’m sure the men you know wouldn’t appreciate it
@@Rico401Prov No doubt. He's a real man for doing something charitable, with multiple other people? That's called being human. Doing something charitable doesn't make you a "real man". I see people being charitable all the time and they're no more a man than anybody else.

He likely has so much more drive because of this, which is probably the most important thing to have when trying to become a pro. He knows whenever he feels down he has all these people back home who believe in him and want him to succeed. Even if he doesn’t he seems smart enough to have a good career
Chances are slim but at the very least I hope he's good enough to get scholarships and goes to college or university and if he doesn't make it has something to fall back on.

Always, this is what people don't get, those who are in the NBA had the same dream as him, and put in the hard work and dedication to become a part of that organization. Who's to say that he can't be the next Lebron James or Michael Jordan? All of them had to start somewhere, and chances are, they had the same mindset that this kid has.
I would always support kids playing outside over inside glued to video games! I wouldn’t be upset to hear a child practicing a musical instrument either. What a sweet teenager. So soft spoken and kind. The way he looked at his mom multiple times, 😊so sweet

The way the kid thought he was annoying people with his dribbling is so relatable. He seems incredibly socially aware, and you can't teach that, it comes from being raised right. Good for him and his family. I sincerly hope he makes it.
Exactly!
True dat!
"Good kids deserve good things." True understatement. Good and appropriate is completely undervalued in this world.
@@Anonymous-gh8kt agreed. Respect was drilled into me by ROTC as a teen and it's gotten me a long way since.
Yeah especially in the USA. Lots of charity going around but actually changing the system is not happening. There's tens if not hundreds of thousands of kids in the USA every year that don't get the opportunity they deserve because of poor education, health system and infrastructure.

Why be negative? Sky's the limit brah

Even if he don't it won't go to waste just cause it was given with they're hearts and help him with that gift. The kid is a good kid and with that good gesture he will appreciate his community more and work hard to keep that
He likely has so much more drive because of this, which is probably the most important thing to have when trying to become a pro.

There’s a lot of us in the world, it’s just that we go about our business while the horrible ones steal the headlines. There’s also plenty of wonderful women out there, like yourself, that do the same for girls. 👏👏👏

There are still very good people in the world. God bless this good neighbor and everyone who responded to his post.
Great story. I love how the kid looks in his face and shakes hands. That means he been raised on good manners. Best wishes to them and all who read this.
What a beautiful young man! Not only is he gorgeous but he's also kind and really respectful!
God Bless that man and yes you don’t see good boys like that everyday, his parents raised him with kindness May the Lord bless them all.
I hope his dreams come true. Kudos for the acts of kindness towards him.
