Not exactly. Simon was a convert to Christianity from paganism. Magus is not his last name, it is the Latin word for magician, his former occupation. He didn't challenge Peter. His skin will not be "brass". Brass biblically speaks of judgment so the brass color of his skin expresses the fact that he is coming back as judge. There are some commentaries that openly state Peter may have never visited "the eternal city," let alone died in the city. According to the "Complete Book of Who's Who in the Bible," there is no definitive Biblical evidence that he ever visited Rome. The ISBE states, in their article on the apostle, "It should be observed, however, that the tradition that he visited Rome IS ONLY TRADITION AND NOTHING MORE . . .". What is abundantly clear is that John 21 does not state the apostle's martyrdom would be in the city.

Not in the Bible because: 1) Peter didn't write it. In fact the Apostle Peter had no connection to it. 2) It was written about 100 years too late to become part of the New Testament. The books of the New Testament were settled by the turn of the first century AD with all but two epistles being quoted as scripture. The Acts of Peter was written much after that, around 150AD at the earliest and was never considered to be canonical.
The 4 gospels didnt have names attached to them, they were written anonymously so you can not prove who wrote them either, just as Peter did not write 1 and 2 Peter clown
@@HistoryandReviews Actually, there are historical accounts that connect the four Gospels to the writers assigned to them which were written down by Christian leaders very close to the actual events, which historians usually find to be a sign of accuracy. Additionally, the Book of Luke is accepted to be written by Luke due to internal evidence in Luke and Acts, not outside accounts. Instead of getting pissy, how about doing your homework instead of pushing a completely fraudulent work. The Acts of Peter was written by someone who lied about his identity, lied about knowing Jesus, lived about 100 years after the writing of the four true Gospels, and wrote things that, when compared to the real Gospels, presents a silly, nonsensical Jesus and contradicts the clearly written doctrines of the Bible. Everything I have said is common knowledge, accepted by the scholarly community. The text is not written by Peter or anyone who knew him because it was written about 100 years after Peter died in the mid 60s AD. That means that it was written by a fraud/liar who used Peter's name to enhance his credibility. That in itself should raise red flags for a scholar. If that happened today, it would potentially result in lawsuits on multiple grounds. Instead of resorting to insults, how about you just be honest? This is not a reliable source for the Christian story. It was purposely rejected as Canonical because of the very reasons I stated: 1) Spurious authorship, 2) Late dating (the Canon was settled and established by the turn of the second century and we have documentation of that fact in the sermons and letters of the church fathers who quoted the books in the New Testament extensively enough that we could reconstruct about 90-95% of the text from quotations), and 3) Content which contradicts the facts and doctrine of the New Testament. Is this alleged gospel interesting? Perhaps, but is it in anyway biblical or a window into Christianity? No. It is a window into Gnosticism a distinct theology that combines Christianity with Greek Mystery Religions creating something quite unique from both.

The acts of Peter is not biblical, it's gnostic. It's descrediting Peter's apostleship from Christ, and Simon the Sorcerer was SAVED. His skin will not be "brass". Brass biblically speaks of judgment so the brass color of his skin expresses the fact that he is coming back as judge. Just as the white hair signifies wisdom (as in aged people are wise). He was a middle easterner and his skin tone was in between, a tan or olive color like the current middle eastern Jews.

There are some commentaries that openly state Peter may have never visited "the eternal city," let alone died in the city. According to the "Complete Book of Who's Who in the Bible," there is no definitive Biblical evidence that he ever visited Rome. The ISBE states, in their article on the apostle, "It should be observed, however, that the tradition that he visited Rome IS ONLY TRADITION AND NOTHING MORE . . .". What is abundantly clear is that John 21 does not state the apostle's martyrdom would be in the city.

Not in the Bible because:
1) Peter didn't write it. In fact the Apostle Peter had no connection to it.
2) It was written about 100 years too late to become part of the New Testament. The books of the New Testament were settled by the turn of the first century AD with all but two epistles being quoted as scripture. The Acts of Peter was written much after that, around 150AD at the earliest and was never considered to be canonical.
The 4 gospels didnt have names attached to them, they were written anonymously so you can not prove who wrote them either, just as Peter did not write 1 and 2 Peter clown

Additionally, the Book of Luke is accepted to be written by Luke due to internal evidence in Luke and Acts, not outside accounts.

The Acts of Peter was written by someone who lied about his identity, lied about knowing Jesus, lived about 100 years after the writing of the four true Gospels, and wrote things that, when compared to the real Gospels, presents a silly, nonsensical Jesus and contradicts the clearly written doctrines of the Bible. The text is not written by Peter or anyone who knew him because it was written about 100 years after Peter died in the mid 60s AD. That means that it was written by a fraud/liar who used Peter's name to enhance his credibility. That in itself should raise red flags for a scholar. If that happened today, it would potentially result in lawsuits on multiple grounds.
Instead of resorting to insults, how about you just be honest? This is not a reliable source for the Christian story. It was purposely rejected as Canonical because of the very reasons I stated: 1) Spurious authorship, 2) Late dating (the Canon was settled and established by the turn of the second century and we have documentation of that fact in the sermons and letters of the church fathers who quoted the books in the New Testament extensively enough that we could reconstruct about 90-95% of the text from quotations), and 3) Content which contradicts the facts and doctrine of the New Testament.
Is this alleged gospel interesting? Perhaps, but is it in anyway biblical or a window into Christianity? No. It is a window into Gnosticism a distinct theology that combines Christianity with Greek Mystery Religions creating something quite unique from both.
