Just to clear it up: Tenor - John Rulapaugh, best known for his time with Palmetto State and the Dove Brothers Lead- Arthur Rice, current and long time lead with Kingdom Heirs and formerly with the Kingsmen Baritone - Mark Trammell currently of his own quartet and formerly of Gold City, Greater Vision and the Cathedrals Bass- Gerald Wolfe, really a baritone/lead with Greater Vision All great talents and could be a supergroup.
As for the Baritone, Mark Trammel-Did you know that, before he was with the Cathedrals, he himself was actually with the Kingsmen Quartet, back in the late 1970s? He was on at least one Album with them, and I believe that the Album he was on, was called something like "From out of the past", or something like that...
@@dalebrown7906Exactly! He was with the Kingsmen Quartet back in the late 1970s, and was on the Album "From out of the Past". He was with them for at least that Album. Then, presumably sometime in 1980 or so, he got the invitation from the Cathedrals to come up and be with them. He was with the Cathedrals until about 1990 or 1991, when he left the Cathedrals, and was replaced by Scott Fowler, who, in the Early 2000s, after the Cathedrals disbanded, formed his own group, Legacy 5. Mark Trammel formed his own group, and has continued on singing.
Arthur Rice-The Man that, when he went to The Kingsmen Quartet, immediately became the perfect target for some of Jim Hamill's jokes! He razzed poor Arthur every chance he got, seems like! If you listened to the Kingsmen's 1985 live album, "Better In Person", Jim Hamill states"I didn't like Arthur. I didn't like him none. But my Boss, Eldridge Fox, wanted him in the Kingsmen. He called me, and said "I've got a new guy to play Bass Guitar, and once in a while, sing Lead for us, and I said "Great! Who is it"? He said "Arthur Rice", and I went CLICK!!! I hung up on him! And then , I thought:"That's the Boss I just hung up on", so I called him right back! He said"What happened", & I said "I dunno... must've gotten cut off". He said "I'm gonna send him out on the Road with you, and if he does a good job, we'll hire him! Well...I didn't like him none, but he's our Bass Singer's Cousin, so...we took him with us, and one night we were singin' somewhere, and I decided "Now is the perfect time, to put Ol' Arthur up to sing a solo. Well, Ol' Arthur sang, and the people cheered, and then, from back in the audience, a man shouted:"Jim"! I said "Yeah"? The man said "Give him your suit! He sings better than you do"! Ol' Jim Hamill knew how to have fun with people, that's for sure! There's a lot more stories I could tell you, but I'll not do that now. Have a great day, and God bless you and yours!
LOLOLOLOLOL TOO FUNNY. My understanding is that Gerald just wanted three members in the group. Some people think it is more a financial decision. Gospel music can be a tough field financially and you have one less person to pay.
Look up their net worth online like I did. They don't have to worry about their finances. I'm sure there are some newcomers that need the money. I loved this song the group. I loved everything about them would love to have a copy.
I’ve actually heard Gerald Wolfe say why Greater Vision does not have a bass singer. He says it’s two reasons. The first one is they just don’t want one. But the other reason is that he traveled with the greatest bass singer whoever lived for two years in George Younce, and he knew that no one would ever be able to measure up to George, so they stayed a trio…
I just came across this. I love it. Huge fan of the Florida Boys, The Happy Goodman's. Is this a particular group, or just a mix from a convention? Kingsman Quartet?
since there are LOTS of gospel music lovers on this page, I am searching for, and have been for many years(and even went on Facebook to their web page) Does anyone PLEASE know where I can get a copy of It's Just Heavens Echo by the older version of the Dixie Echos. would LOVE LOVE a copy of it. also i was given a bunch of CDs and one of them is a Boxed set of Greater Vision . if anyone would like it for free i will give it to you
Jennifur, sorry I'm not familiar with It's Just Heavens Echo nor the Dixie Echos. However, I would love the boxed set of Greater Vision if you still have it.
That’s John Rulapaugh. Was the original tenor for the Dove Brothers and then sang for several years with Palmetto State Quartet. His style is very much in the Statesmen style tenor. Pull up some old Palmetto State videos. The lineup of John , Kerry Beatty, Tony Peace, and Aaron McCune is a very good lineup
Back in the 70's, the Statler Brothers had a comedy number that starts with their bass singer as a (very poor, BTW) disc jockey at the fictional WEAK radio. He then brings in a live group, known as Lester "Road Hog" Moran and his Cadillac Cowboys, which are not very good musicians. Anyways, one of the characters in the skit is known as "Wichita", so that's where that comes from. Just look up Lester Moran and the Cadillac Cowboys on here and you'll see what I mean (it's a RIOT!).
Nothing... it’s an inside joke. When Jason first came to them bc he heard they needed a tenor he was in jeans and a T-shirt but saw them in suits so he cane back in a borrowed suit that was 5x to big... it’s a hilarious story. Like I said, an inside joke. There is a video of one of Jason’s first nights with them and they tell the story in it.
You're kinda laughing at the guy, and maybe not realizing that he won "Songwriter of the Year" for that song. Remember:He who laughs last, laughs best!

John Rulapaugh with Freedom Quartet for years!!!! Miss Freedom dearly one of the best groups ever

Finances might be good BECAUSE they don’t have a bass?
Skylark Judy Davis they sound fantastic without one... Gerald doesn’t care for that low sound. Why can’t they just be different?
I’ve actually heard Gerald Wolfe say why Greater Vision does not have a bass singer. He says it’s two reasons. The first one is they just don’t want one. As good as this is at normal playback speed, it's MUCH more of a toe-tapping bit of entertainment with the playback speed set 1.2!
I didn’t think the playback speed would make much of a difference but it sounds like the regular tempo of Looking For a City at 1.25
still wonder what other singers had to say about this song
thought Mark was going to loose it for a while
Arthur too LOL
Cause he doesn't want one!!!! LOL

HAHAHAHAH... Awesome!
Can I have a piano sheet music of this?? :))
srry to tell yall this but the 2 best Tenors i know wear blue jeans, on stage and off lol
It's a parody. Not to be taken seriously.
It’s an inside joke... when Jason first met them he was in jeans and a T-shirt. 🙄
Mark Trammell and Gerald Wolfe are pretty old school on the subject
Why doesn't Gerald have a bass singer in his group?
They don’t need one for their style and it’s a few thousand $$$ a month in savings.
They also don’t have to pay for a pianist because Gerald is as good or better than anyone they could get.
They were asked in an interview one time this very question and Gerald’s answer was simply “because we don’t want one”.
still wonder what other people in quarters ever said about this song
Lindo! Qual o nome do tenor?
