Both times in Salzburg I thought I walked in to heaven. Absolutely breath taking. Thank you for taking such beautiful videos, and taking us with you to Austria . You made my day today.

Yes, the Alps are breathtaking! I live in Switzerland and just this morning, I went SUPing on our lake. Paddling with mountain view ... It can't get better than this!

So nice to see you had a blast that weekend. I love your open mindedness to learn about new things / culture / food. Your videos are always amazing. High quality and you've got an eye for very nice and breathtaking shots as well as for beautiful details such as blossoms and that nice salamander. Keep those videos coming. Hope to see you here one day and take you around.
You only need the vignette for motorways (Autobahn/Schnellstraße) in Austria and the vignette for one year is a waste of money in the middle of a year. 3 x 2 month is cheaper. There are some exemptions from the vignette on some Autobahn stretches for example on A12 german border - Kufstein Süd, A10 Tauerntunnel, A13 Innsbruck - italian border. You can find the vignette and non-vignette routes on the ASFINAG webpage.
nice vlog.music fits perfect to the great landscape and you got view on details like the geko or the snail. Youve got a brave and sporty child, congrats! keep it up and stay safe
I love the alps, too. Unless you drove a lot further into austria that day you would not have needed a vignette at all. You only need it for the highways.
Oh, and my favorite part of Austria is Nationalpark Hohe Tauern. In particular, I can recommend the glacier trail in Innergeschlöss: www.osttirol.com/en/national-park-hohe-tauern/discover-and-experience/detail/glacier-trail-innergschloessschlatenkees/
The suspension bridge is called Highline 179, as the national road going under the bridge is the Bundesstrasse 179. When it opened in 2014, it held the world record for the longest pedestrian suspension bridge. The Bundesstraße 179 follows the old trading route from Ulm and Augsburg to Italy, crossing the Fernpass ("firn pass"). The vignette is only needed for the Austrian Autobahn, not for national roads.
This region is breathtakingly beautiful. I've been to Lermoos in May for the first time and I'll go back in August. In general, you only need a Vignette for the Autobahn in Austria. For the route from Füssen to Ehrenberg it would not have been necessary. If you're unsure whether or not you need one, you can always ask at the tourist info or the gas stations. And on a personal note: I love the music in your videos. I'd love if you could add the song titles in the video info :)
Pretty sure you wouldn't have needed the Vignette in Austria since it's only for the Autobahn-style Roads. The one closest to where you have been would be the Inntalautobahn from Arlberg to Innsbruck/Kufstein/Brenner. Additionally the are some additional tickets needed for some tunnels (e.g. Tauerntunnel) and mountain passes (Brenner) in Austria. The soup you had is a Flädlesuppe. Basically broth with sliced Pfannkuchen (you know the thing between NA pancakes and french Crepe)
I'm glad you had such a nice weekend. I only know the castle and the bridge from pasing underneath, heading further south, you will probably come back again on your future tours.... the soup is the yummy Fritatensuppe in Austria, if you come to Baden-Württemberg the same soup is called - Flädlesuppe-! which only means cut salty pancakes in stripes...the Vignette for Austria you only need to use the Autobahn! Same for Switzerland, you have to buy it to use the Autobahn. Where as in France or Italy you paydirectly at toll stations.... lucky you, German Autobahn is for "free". Have a nice Week!

I would not have been able to walk over that one in Austria....the MarionBruckle at Neuschwanstein Castle with the wood board floor also was difficult for me... Im such a chicken.
"I think we're in Austria" - "Yeah, we are, definitely". Welcome to the European Union. You often won't recognize when crossing the borders, except when you have a close look on street signs. Especially when using smaller roads. It's often fun to cross borders with non EU citizens, when they are used to strong border controls and the stuff. For us it is just "the normal thing". Especially when you live close to the borders, as I do from Lake of Constance (a place you should definitely also visit) ;-)
I think it depends a lot whether you live near a country border or not. I grew up in the midst of Germany and we didn't travel much, so crossing a border has always been something very special to me. When I left Germany for good, I moved to Switzerland, so although there's Schengen, there are still border controls for me. So I still cross every border with a bit of excitement, even when I go from Austria to Italy or from Germany to Czechia.
It depends. There can be exceptions on special occasions. I was once woken up by Italian border patrol in the middle of the night in a night train to Italy. There was one guy talking to us in italian and a second guy pointing a submachine gun at us. That was quite a scary experience. Especially as we did not speak the language. Luckily we had a guy from the North of Italy in our compartment, who was fluent in both, German an Italian. All of that happened already under the Schengen Treaty.
It´s really cute when you see the enthusiasm in all your eyes (especially Willas). It brings back memories of our family holidays at Chiemsee. BTW that is another cool destination for a weekend. Prien an Chiemsee with a ship ferry tour to Herrenchiemsee (Ludwig II copy of Versailles) on an island on the lake. If you like fish i can recommend Chiemsee-Renken (Trout) they are really tasty.

Nice video again guys! From what I saw I think you had "Fritatten Suppe" or "Eierflädlesuppe" (two names for the same) which is broth with stripes of thin pancake in it.
@@sunshine_girl If I remember correctly, I picked that term up in Austria, while Flädlesuppe is probably a more swabian term. I am not a 100% sure though.

The Autobahn Insbruck-Bregnez is a toll-road, but to drive to Insbruck, you didn't have to use it. It takes a bit longer, but its ok. Even if you want drive to the Reschenpass, you can use Country-Roads. But its faster on the Autobahn. Reutte and Ehrenberg are nice to stay. I live at the other end of the B17 i saw on your Navi
If you like to visit another bridge, visit the Wildline bridge in Bad Wildbad in the northern black forest. There is also an wooden pathway up in the trees with a tower at the end, which offers amazing views. But i can imagine that the black forest is already on your bucket list. :-)
This is close where i live but i would faint immediately right on the first step. Tried a much smaller suspension Bridge which wasn't that open on every site and i still was frightened. Never had fear of heights before. Been to Vancouver too and the Capiliano suspension bridge is about 70 meters high the highline 179 is 114 meters high. Love your daughter she has no fear at all:-)
If you are ever in lower austria you have to look at Schloss Hof, a beautiful castle with gardens and even a free zoo with lots of animals for Willa to look at :-)
You guys picked a great time to travel and hit the tourist attractions. I would encourage you to visit Salzburg and Bertchesgaden before the international tourists start returning. Also from your home location Prag and Vienna are only 2-3 hours drive and beautiful to visit. In your place I would visit all the most “touristy” places now and the quirky, fun, unusual places later. The vignettes in Switzerland (annual) and Austria (5/10 days) are tolls for the Autobahnen. You can avoid them by using back roads. The Swiss vignette is for the calander year, so you pay the same price in January as November. If you have an ADAC (German AAA) office in your town, you can also buy them there. If you are traveling a lot in your car, you might want to join the ADAC, as they provide breakdown assistance on the highway and have interesting maps and tour guides that you might find helpful.
Oh you try the Frittaten soup, you can do that at home. Make very thin pancakes, and cut them in very small stripes and pieces. As Long you know what a vegetable soup is made, put the stripes in, do not forget put Maggi in (Austrians please forgive me) and you have kind of Fritaten soup 😀 For me as a born Bavarian , a visit in Austria was the wrong decision, but this is a hole different story… if you drive 2 hours more via the Brennerpässe you can drive to Italy, visit the well known Lake Garda! This is a trip worth! Your Sweety is so adorable with that lovely hat! Have a nice time!
Frittaten Suppe is nothing else but a pancake soup. In germany pancakes can be sweet or savory. If some of the savory ones are left over, people tend to make Fritatensuppe. which is just cut up pancakes put in a broth. also "Palatschinken" is another name for pancakes, often used in austria. just in case you find yourself reading that on a menue.
From that suspension bridge one can see numerous houses below. What must it be like to actually live in such beautiful scenery and see it all the time. But if you've grown up there, it probably seems all perfectly normal.
We've been to Bavaria a couple of years ago and did a similar trip to Füssen - did a similar trip to Neuschwanstein and the surrounding area, but we chickened out at the Highline 179 😱
Loved the video. I am actually from Western Austria (born in Vorarlberg, living in Tyrol). the Soup you refereeing to at the end of the video is called "Flädlesuppe" (think in Germany it is also called "Frittatensuppe", it was may favorite soup as a kid).
You can get the Vignette online also,so no more placards on your windscreen;) If you can manage to plan your trip without any stretch on the Autobahn you do not need one at all
if you can, go for a short trip to southern tyrol, especially seceda and the region around tre cime and lago di braies. if this has already been breathtaking to you, wait till you see seceda ;)
she isen't brave she is exited to be out and about with her parents. she feel save with both of you around. and is enjoying the bouncing and the mood you both are in.
you just need this Vingnette if you use the Autobahn. On all other roads you don t need it. I learned the hard way and had to pay 120€ for a 5 kms trip from Germany to Germany using the Autobahn. :-(......and yes.. this bridge is longer than the Capilano Suspension bridge in North Van. Besides: all the food you are showing in your videos its worth watching!!!
And while you are in Liechtenstein, make Switzerland your #21 ... It's so small, you probably will miss Liechtenstein anyway and drive into Switzerland straightaway :)
Sorry, that you sich a bad weather. 70 % of rain is not normal. This year spring war the coldest and the most rainy for 40 years in Germany. So Austria was affected too...
Well honestly...there is absolutely nothing wrong about Pizza..BUT you missed out way more than just "a lot" not to have tried actual local austrian food....just saying. OK you had a Frittaten soup (= soup with a thin pancake in stripes) that is at least a decent start. For instance in your last video you tried Käsespätzle, and it came across that you loved it ..Well every region (meaning not country but just region in and near the Alps) has its own version and the taste is therefore always slightly different because it is made with - local mountain cheese which there are a lot of different types with different taste - and therefore the taste of Käsespätzle variates a lot from region to region...just as an example. And there is no "favourite place" in Austria..simply everywhere you go in Austria you will end up being in middle of a breathtaking post card view...no matter if you are in the countryside or in a town or city or village...and I´m here not exaggerating, you will see. Austria´s tourism is mainly based on tourists which are coming again and again and again visiting all different kinds of places in order to stay for some days enjoying the enviroment and all what it has to offer = beautiful nature, old traditional culture, and especially tremendous food which variates in the sort of different local dishes a lot from region to region ..it is not a - so to say - one time destination.
Next time out the sticker on top the left side of the window BUT ONLY in the clear space of the Window. Some police in Austria and Switzerland don't enjoy the way you dit it (Button right)

Just watching this makes me want to hide in a corner... 😲🤢 This see-through Floor alone would KILL me!
Nice trip - just the bridge would scare me off with my fear of height. BTW as you like to travel around to find nice spots, I'd recommend checking the church St. Bartholomä www.berchtesgaden.de/bartholomae You will just need to check on beforehand (maybe by calling them) if it's open, but right now it should. Also check the weather forecast - best thing during a sunny day without being too cloudy... It's a "post card" scenario there - you'll drive to "Königssee" by car and from there you can take a boat ride. The lake itself is surrounded by high mountains on 3 sides and in the middle of the boat tour they normally do a short stop and do some trumpet play. The way they do it you will hear several echos from the mountains... When taking the boat tour, I'd recommend to do it not just to the church pier but to the pier at the opposite end of the lake. There you will find an "Alm" where during summer time this is used for the cows. Those "Alm"'s do have a picknick spot (not really a real restaurant) where you can buy and eat some of their own made cheese, bread etc. which is very delicious.
Really funny how you count the number of countries you have already visited. Most Europeans probably wouldn't think of it, because is just so normal to travel to another country. 😂 (OK, now I counted as well. I visited 18 countries if you count the former gdr while it still was in existence.)
Aren't Disney productions just a cheaply made impression, compared to the real thing? Now you know why you go to work - these are the moments you couldn't afford to experience otherwise.
Oh well, i am old too and thus not particularly fond of them. But hey, our parents nagged over our style too, back then. No need for snarky comments, live and let live.

Never had fear of heights before. Been to Vancouver too and the Capiliano suspension bridge is about 70 meters high the highline 179 is 114 meters high. Love your daughter she has no fear at all:-)
We’ve been to the same bridge in Vancouver! So fun to hear how you would react-thanks for sharing!
From your house it is also not far to the Czech Republic, Prague.
You should take an trip to Sächsische Schweiz!
I live in Austria you must try Schnitzel or Sachertorte is a Dessert 😍
We will have to try it!
@@OurStorytoTell 🥰
Agreed!!
Just awesome! Come to Oberstdorf. This is right on the German-Austrian border. ✌
I was just going to write "it is called Frittatensuppe in Austria", but I guess I just learned that only we in the east call it that.
Actually it's called "Frittatensuppe" *only* in (eastern) Austria.
Have fun and enjoy, even if there is rain. As the Germans say: there is no bad weather, just bad clothing 😉😂
Try Germknödel or Kaiserschmarrn. Thats the perfect alpine austrian food
Thanks for the suggestions!! We will have to try them! :)
Hey just letting you know, you only need a Vingnette, if you want to drive on the austrian Autobahn.
Wow we cool , I am every 3 week‘s there … 🤗
On the Ehrenberg Therme , to go to Sauna and Relax … 👻
Wow nice view watching from germany
Thank you! 😊
A tip for you next visit: Burg Hohenwerfen :-)
You can get the Vignette online also,so no more placards on your windscreen;) If you can manage to plan your trip without any stretch on the Autobahn you do not need one at all
if you can, go for a short trip to southern tyrol, especially seceda and the region around tre cime and lago di braies. if this has already been breathtaking to you, wait till you see seceda ;)
Oh we cannot wait to see those areas!! 😍
Which month is it
Just from watching on the bridge I get funny feelings in my stomach. I have a fear of heights! I would never go over there...
Heights are definitely not for everyone! Risa was hanging on tight at first that’s for sure!
she isen't brave she is exited to be out and about with her parents. she feel save with both of you around. and is enjoying the bouncing and the mood you both are in.
You're not going to believe this but we just visit the Highline179 2 weeks ago! So funny!!
Oh my gosh crazy!! I hope you had a great time 😊
Austria, ist das nicht das Land mit den Känguruhs? 😉😄
no
Australia, not Austria 😆
you just need this Vingnette if you use the Autobahn.
Ahh bummer! We didn’t know it then, but have now figured them out! Thanks for the comment and sorry that happened to you!
Das nächste mal kaufst du eine digitale vingiette beim ÖAMTC, wie hat die Frittatensuppe geschmeckt?
It is Not necessary to by a Vignette, if you don't go on the Austria Autobahn
While you are down there, make Liechtenstein 🇱🇮 your #20
And while you are in Liechtenstein, make Switzerland your #21 ... It's so small, you probably will miss Liechtenstein anyway and drive into Switzerland straightaway :)
Capilano Suspension Bridge is only 136m (446ft). So this one is way bigger...
You only need vignettes for Austria and Switzerland.
You might enjoy this video: th-cam.com/video/L9_f3GldYGg/w-d-xo.html
Nice trip - just the bridge would scare me off with my fear of height.
BTW as you like to travel around to find nice spots, I'd recommend checking the church St. Bartholomä www.berchtesgaden.de/bartholomae
You will just need to check on beforehand (maybe by calling them) if it's open, but right now it should.
What city are you in? You say you arrived… but where?
Bavaria, Germany :)
@@OurStorytoTell yes, ill be there soon, but i need something to put into maps, cant miss Christmas market
ah the famous pancake soup the austrians call it frittatensuppe
the soup is called " Flädlesuppe" its made out of a broth, mostly chicken or beef stock and sliced pancakes, but the big ones, like crepes....
If you are into border crossing watch this vlog: th-cam.com/video/MYtNw_NpJtI/w-d-xo.html
Really funny how you count the number of countries you have already visited. Most Europeans probably wouldn't think of it, because is just so normal to travel to another country. 😂 (OK, now I counted as well. I visited 18 countries if you count the former gdr while it still was in existence.)
Haha yes it’s so fun for us to count because we love seeing the number go up!!
There is no such thing as bad weather - only inappropriate clothing!
Aren't Disney productions just a cheaply made impression, compared to the real thing?
Now you know why you go to work - these are the moments you couldn't afford to experience otherwise.
HAHAHA welcome to europe where border crossing is nothing special at all :)
Lmao why do you keep saying "expacially". It's especially.
Hitler was an Austrian :(
Gives or buys the woman trousers that are not broken. Seems to have no money for sensible trousers.
Oh well, i am old too and thus not particularly fond of them. But hey, our parents nagged over our style too, back then. No need for snarky comments, live and let live.
