Lovely lady! This is a rare treat, seeing this film of Melanie's earlier days! I've been a fan of her music ever since the early 1970's! She is, indeed, a beautiful, iconic woman with a voice that stirs the emotions!
We are, truly, blessed to have such a wonderful soul like Melanie. I was a fan when i first heard Lay Down on the radio (yes, I was very young...but it resonated). Being an artist, these days, truer words about vulnerability cannot be more accurate. This song has always been a mini-anthem to me having chosen a career in "go out and sell them." But selling's not my aim.
I first heard Melanie when at a record market I bought an album of hers called the Four Sides of Melanie. I then gradually added to that with many of her other albums and even new releases on CD. It was at a time when I was suffering from depression and listening to Melanie was a huge comfort that got me through that dark and anxious time.
Dor Jon i bought Melanie's born to be in 1969 and i remember this program being aired in early 1970s I have tried to find it for the last 5 years so i was really pleased to see it on here.
The first time I heard of Melanie was through my cousin...I was sitting on the couch with my guitar, playing and singing. My cousin said I sound like Melanie! Now I hear her and I think, "not hardly cousin". Beautiful sound! You live in Tennessee? I once sang at Tootsies!
Such a pleasant voice! This song takes me back to my very youth when I bought your first record, recorded live at Margie's birthday party. Thank you, Melanie, for your great music and your alltime positive attitude!

This song, the video, it's so true and so powerful. She obviously didnt want the television appearance not the "free concert" (which is obviously what she wanted to do) but it was only her. I wonder what the rest of that conversation went like.
