I've been a fan for over 50 years and there are no artists today who can write a song and perform it and hold the audience on every note and verse like Melanie She was part of a generation of songwriters who questioned what was and asked what could be. Clean and pure and real for the past 50 years and forever
one in a trillion talent!
Something spiritual about her voice that rings with an honesty and truth, like the honesty and truth you feel when early Bob Dylan songs would sing you a word-story. She feels so invested in her song that I never doubt her and I listen with respect. And when she opens her mouth wide in her almost yelling passion, I believe.
I have always felt she was the female equivalent of Bob Dylan. I was so happy reading your text. God bless Melanie.

I loved her when she was alive, and I still love her now she is gone.
Beautiful girl with insane talent. People who really know music, especially of this era know how amazing Melanie was. She could sing Happy Birthday and it would stir something in your soul. One of the very best of all time. There have been very few artists that pack the emotion into their vocals that she does. Writes, plays, sings...does it all and does it very well. What a passionate and soulful performer.
Melanie is a woman who is just filled with all the cuteness and beauty that can be packed into a jewel of perfection!
An amazing performance she must be the most under rated performer who came out of the 1960,s

I just stumbled onto this page and I'm so happy to hear the voice of the singer that make my ears prick up and listen. All the sudden I'm young again.
Music is really a time machine I can recall this song almost stopping me in my tracks as a twelve year old and now that in three weeks i'll be 65 this song is still captivating but this time looking back with tears of joy.
What a time of real emotion and expectation.
I remember watching this episode getting all excited knowing Melanie was on. Loved that Lady from day one!

The rendition of Lay Down from the Netherlands TV performance with the Edwin Hawkins Singers certainly gives chills...just sayin' :) Thanks for the music, memories and love!

Wow, just wow! I don't think I ever saw that performance before. What a blessing to be able to see shows, videos, performances from around the world some of which were never shown on American TV. Bobby Sherman came to my junior high gym and performed in 1967 or 68 I think lol. What was that show, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers? But the real star in this video was Melanie! I love that voice and how she really sings her heart out each and every time. There was only a minute of Tina Turner, but it was a beautiful minute! Thanks so much for posting these Melanie, they're all really wonderful!

@2zwaantjes She used to come to Ann Arbor Michigan before covid. Got to see her four times and meet her. She signed albums or pics or whatever you had and we were able to get pics with her. Beautiful soul!
