I'm sure it was a technical choice. It was probably easier than making a new model in Blender if there were no ready made models. It was also increase production time exponentially, I'd reckon.
Hope these notes don't come across as too critical, but a few things that stuck out for me: 1) Positioning; we should see how the Quasar (Phoenix Next, I presume) manuevered from behind the ISD to in front of it- including how/why the ISD's main cannons didn't shred the ship. (Likewise, WHY did it move to the front when it was in a safe position at the rear?) Further, the ISD should be trying to bring itself into a position to properly engaged the largest enemy ship with its main guns. 2) TIE Fighters- were their safeties on? Cuz I didn't see them firing a shot 3) When the Y-Wing's popped the main ISD emplacements, there should be damaged cannons in the wake, not a suddenly cleanly empty space. 4) Did the Ghost do anything except show up? 5) As others have mentioned, the S-Foils on the X-Wings not opening seemed off. 6) Why/how did the ISD go from falling "front" first to essentially landing on its belly...?
Nice video, but The x-Wing and Y-Wing both have hyperdrives, they wouldnt need the carrier to deploy, they could have just jumped into the fight own their own.
While X and Y-wing Fighters have hyperdrives, as do the A-Wings, it was shown in Rebels that wasn't enough and dedicated carriers are needed to provide the pilots a place where they can fight fatigue.
@@shadowlornz835 Yeah, but it has key weaknesses which even in the movies were made up for. Remember the Fleet in ROTJ where the majority of Rebel starfighters were in the MC80s?
Hey, great work! I really loved the attention you payed to the lighting. The Y-wings coming up out of the dark over the ISD engines was particularly good. Keep up the good work learning, practicing, and having fun. You got real promise!
I simply love any video showing action with star wars "Rebels" series in mind. Love seeing the "phantom" in action. Thank you, i really enjoyed your video.
Excellent! Usually fan films will show the Imperial forces cutting through the Rebels easily, but I think they were considerably tougher and harder to engage on the Empire's terms. The skirmishes would go down much more like what you illustrate here. With the Rebels massively outnumbered, I can only imagine strikes like this had to be common in order for them to be considered a threat.
heres the thing, rebels never played on the empires terms, they picked their targets carefully, mostly imperial supply lines, poorly defended outposts, and then stealing the occasional lambda shuttle, if the empire did ever show up on their own terms then the rebels would simply do what they did best and run off doing whatever damage they could
I liked it. Don't get me wrong, but if it was that easy to take out a Star Destroyer, the war wouldn't have lasted long. Also, if all those fighters were capable of light speed, what would be the point in risking the carrier? Plus the X wings never locked their x foils open. However I watched every second of it. It was bad ass.
I love the Mon Cal "pickle ships!" What a fun vid! I have an affinity for those nice, big, colorful lasers. "Lasers'n'phasers" & other beam weapons in modern sci-fi look like short bursts of energy. Give me the old '78 "Battlestar Galactica" & "Spaceballs" laser blasts anytime!
Great animation, sure there are some issues like other comments pointed out but I am sure as you animate more those problems will be a thing of the past. Would love to see you improve over time. keep it up! (I know no constuctive criticism here, but there is enough of that in the comments already)
Nice movie…. But I can‘t see any shoot from the Tie‘s?!? Also wouldn‘t an ISD Commander fight the X and Y-wings with the turbolaser….. this would be more realistic in my opinion…..😉👍 Greez from the 501st GG ✌️
Turbolasers were mainly used for capital ship fighting and planet bombardment. The TiES were used for taking care of the fighter screens. The only ship I can remember actually fighting the Rebel fighters was the Lancer frigates. They were made especially for that type of fighting.
Great film. Very well done!. A few issues though. X-Wings attack with the S-foils open. They will fly TO the enemy with the foils closed for greater speed, but they will fire with the fails open. Y-Wings are not very agile! Let the ISD re-orientate to bring its guns to bear. This would make it more realistic. It would also allow the TIE's to launch while protected by the superstructure. The ISD would have opened up all its guns when anything would have been in range. The ISD would not have nose-dived into the planet... It would have slowly lost height as gravity grabs hold of it. Even then it would likely have either tumbled or just dropped like a brick. The guns would not have had such a big explosion. There are other nit-picks... But there you go! But this was a GREAT piece of work. You should be REALLY proud of it! This was WAY better than anything I could do.
The ironic thing is that Imperial-Class ISD’s were purpose built for this kind of fight. Yet they were constantly losing to their rebel counterparts after Endor.
built for brute forcing its way through any obstacle! but when the obstacle drops from BEHIND you and has its own teeth... thats when you know you have a problem

Other than the X-Wing problem I've seen mentioned, the only complaint I have here is that the laser bolts were traveling weirdly slowly. Nice work, good video!
thats just for emmersion effects, its even used in the movies to make things more interesting, Star Wars is after all a sci-fi space opera meant for kids these days, never intended to be realistic
This is very nice! The story and concept are good, and this animation is well put together, although might I recommend you diversify your shot type, this is regardless an awesome fan film! Good work.
This is some Disney-level work. The Rebellion clearly relies entirely on the Empire's crews being utterly incapable of working their ships, resulting in battles where the winner is whoever messes up least. Right from the moment that Quasar Fire launched its fighters, I was waiting for the ISDs helmsman to shove the throttles forward and incinerate the lot of them. Didn't happen, of course. Nor were the gunners willing to shoot back until they'd taken damage, the ISD proved literally incapable of maneuvering, and absolutely no one on the Imperial side could shoot straight. I can only assume that the ISD had someone from the ISB onboard who was unwilling to expend Imperial energy!
I think it's a mash up of two Star Wars tracks together. It reminds me of the combat music of the OT and something else. The music is by Kevin Kiner, so you might want to ask him.
Why would fighters need to be carried in via carrier? They have hyperdrives, the entire point of the Rebel fighter tactic is fast hit and run on their own hyperdrives. Why would the X wings be firing with S foils closed?
This is a really well made film. The only issues I seen were, X-wing can only fire one shot with the s-foils down and then automatically open up, (referenced from Rogue Squadron book series). Also the Y-wings and X-wings ha e hyperdrives, so unless they were going an extreme distance, they didn't need carrier support. Otherwise very good short film. 4 outta 5 stars.
Thanks for authoring something new BUT ... the only three CAP tie fighters were smoked very-early on and the Y-Wings had an open shot at the engines but gave it up. Why??? ISD commander could've yelled, "Freebird!" and crashed his SD into the squid cruiser essentially causing this to be a draw.
This is pretty well done, but there's so many little things wrong. Like why do the X-Wings lock s-foils and then immediately close them and never use them again? Or how does a Star Destroyer fall to a planet nose first and then at the last second with no power, level off and almost land? No, I couldn't do it better. But, it just feels rushed.
Okay great video but I have some gripes. 1) The X-Wing S-Foils need to open when they’re attacking. 2) both the X-Wings and Y-Wings have hyperdrives so they don’t need a carrier.
Why would a Star Destroyer fall to the planets surface that quickly, it would stay in orbit and not just start falling. It would take longer for gravity to take hold and pull it down.
star wars was never intended to be realistic, it amazes me how people STILL dont get that its a sci-fi space opera, not something like the sadly cancled Expanse show which WAS intended to be as realistic as possible while still maintaining that sci-fi feel
I don't know where you've gotten the assets, but as I watched this this reminded me a lot of the late 1990's early 2000's video games. Not bad quality, just, not up to today's near realism. *Shrugs* I don't see how a small number of people with limited free time can rival purely animated CGI movies/games which took years to make. The benefit is the design gives the video some neat character. Sound design, did you take it from the internet and attempt to edit it into the video yourselves? When I was watching @2:18 mark, the Y-Wings uncloak and commence their attack run. Why weren't they cloaked as they flew "up" the back of the Star Destroyer? (I didn't notice any occlusion of the stars until the camera zooms in on them as they appear). Why were they dropping bombs? That's _suicide._ They should be using proton torpedoes to take out the turrets. Bombs are good against surface targets being targeted outside of effective range... but carpet bombing just isn't done any more due to weapons getting to be extremely accurate first with laser guided munitions, and then later on radar tracking, and so on. At least have them stand off firing torpedoes at their targets. Speaking of their targets, the Star Destroyer does have dozens of weapons, they should be shooting at the fighters, and then at the rebel ships, once they can line up shots on them. The two capital ships should have been shooting at each other as they closed, not just when they get beside each other. They have forward facing weapons for that reason... I know it's not possible to animate dozens of weapons, dozens of fighters at the same time -- Further, it would fill the screen full of blasters shots and would, honestly, look bad. Or unappealing by the audience -- I'm just asking for more. The Imperial-II Star Destroyers have over 100 weapons, and the Mon Cal Cruiser you're using has just under 70 weapons. Weapons as defined as laser and/or Ion turrets of all types. @4:17 How did the Mon Cal Cruiser's weapons hit the barely exposed engine from that angle? It shouldn't have hit it as the blast is heading "forward" away from the ship, especially since that blast originated near the wing of the MC80, which is about half-way down its length. When we get the next shot, the two ships are not positioned correctly for that shot to have happened. The Star Destroyer isn't immobilized with a single engine hit. Gravity would pull it towards the planet center mass, except, for that to happen, the Star Destroy's forward momentum needs to be overcome first. Space isn't water in which things with no engines just "sink" to the bottom of a gravity well... they still move. And if it does "fall", it will fall in the shortest path available, until friction of the air causes it to move... as the air heats up and starts stripping the exterior.. melting everything on its surface. Which means there should be a ton of escape pods on transports/shuttles evacuating from the doomed ship. Of course, the MC80's have tractor beams so it's possible they could tow the Star Destroyer way from the planet (or put it in an orbit in which it can't fall to the surface of the planet), so that they can capture it for future use I know that scene was based on the one in Return of the Jedi... but the scene in RotJ, had an A-Wing take out the bridge, and the primary helm controls... causing the crew to lose control of the ship until it was too late to avoid the Death Star. *Shrugs* Anyways, I look forward to what you have planned for the next Star Wars video. :)
enemy fleet shows in rear and imperial destroyers doesnt launch its reaction ties or turn hard left or right for full usage of its weapons. nevermind there gunners were asleep
It's a very nice try, but it has it's problems. People already pointed them out. For me it drags a lot and you over emphasize. Can't quite explain it. 😅 Again a very nice try though!
Cool Video, but not really realistic. According to Zahn, 3 Dreadnaught Class Heavy Cruisers would struggle to match an Imperial Star Destroyer, and it's fighter compliment would be more than a match for the X & Y wings the alliance sent against it here. Best strategy is to pound at the shield generators placed over the bridge and destroy them, then disable the ship with the Y-Wing Ion Bombardments (as was demonstrated in Rogue 1). You'd just need a lot more firepower.
Kinda mid. You suffer from a severe lack of how starfighter battles work according to the actual lore. This just looks like you're mimicking the quick nonsense pumped out.
1..xwings s foils need to be open to fire...2 the capitol ship battle, the ywings destroyed main guns,, how did the star destroyer use them...bad bad...need to pay more attention to what your doing..
You've got a decent base and the animations look great, but your story needs some work. The Star Destroyer seemed downright pathetic. There are over a hundred other guns on a Star Destroyer besides the main batteries. There's a reason they're supposed to be scary and workhorses of the Empire. Between their own firepower and the ability to carry up to an entire wing (72) of TIEs it's a daunting task to assault a Star Destroyer, especially with less than a full squadron of starfighters. Speaking of which, why even bother with the Quasar to carry so few fighters? Quasars could carry up to 4 full squadrons, a half squadron on a strike mission would probably have just hyperjumped in on their own. Nail down the details and the story around it and you could have a great cinematic.
Animation is ok, but the plot is weak. Imperial are just sitting there waiting each time to be attacked then doing very little to go on the attack themselves.
The animations are okay so far, but the content of the film makes no sense at all. First of all, the escort carriers carry more than a handful of X-Wings and 4 Y-Wings, just as the Star Destroyer has more than a dozen TIE fighters, which can do more than just fly straight ahead. The most disturbing thing, however, is the fact that the Star Destroyer doesn't open fire at all. One turn, one salvo and the issue would be over.
Cool level of animation and details, but very biased. ISD is like an NPC here, doing quite nothing and TIE are useless. That wouldn't be the case normally.
The animation is incredible, but the next time you can open the wings of the x-wings
That’s a change I plan to make once I get around to re-animating the sequence for the Directors Cut of the film!
Theoretical they can fire as shown but would over heat and so be damged after the fight or have limited capable
My thoughts exactly!
I was going to say the same thing! This animatic was awesome, the only flaw was the X Wings not opening their x foils into attack position.
I'm sure it was a technical choice. It was probably easier than making a new model in Blender if there were no ready made models. It was also increase production time exponentially, I'd reckon.

U made the startdestroyer wayyy to weak, but nice movie
"Star Wars: Rebels". New season:
Better than Disney
The s-foil wings need to be open for the X-wing attack positions.
The X-wings did not lock the foils into attack position.
Lock S-foils in attack position...or not, I guess.
Y would a ship fall down in zero gravity tho?
Not bad
Cool Video, but not really realistic. According to Zahn, 3 Dreadnaught Class Heavy Cruisers would struggle to match an Imperial Star Destroyer, and it's fighter compliment would be more than a match for the X & Y wings the alliance sent against it here. Best strategy is to pound at the shield generators placed over the bridge and destroy them, then disable the ship with the Y-Wing Ion Bombardments (as was demonstrated in Rogue 1). You'd just need a lot more firepower.

top revenge;
Kinda mid. You suffer from a severe lack of how starfighter battles work according to the actual lore. This just looks like you're mimicking the quick nonsense pumped out.
За графику респект,за сюжет 0 из 10,просто потому что весь бой имперцы афк стояли,пока их просто так обстреливали
I had friends on that death-star😢
I didn't think x wings could fire in the closed wing mode
It can fire but at reduced firepower I believe
@@SnannyYT ahh I see
Why don’t they just make missiles with hyperdrives.
Xwings can't use their laser without the wings closed, research!
Animation is ok, but the plot is weak. Imperial are just sitting there waiting each time to be attacked then doing very little to go on the attack themselves.
I wondered why the Star Destroyer didn't just jump into hyperspace...
The carrier is an imperial one and not used by rebels or resistance...
Star Wars Rebels begs to differ.
Remember the Phoenix home?
The animations are okay so far, but the content of the film makes no sense at all. First of all, the escort carriers carry more than a handful of X-Wings and 4 Y-Wings, just as the Star Destroyer has more than a dozen TIE fighters, which can do more than just fly straight ahead.
The most disturbing thing, however, is the fact that the Star Destroyer doesn't open fire at all.
One turn, one salvo and the issue would be over.
Princess Katerra
Legal
Cool level of animation and details, but very biased. ISD is like an NPC here, doing quite nothing and TIE are useless. That wouldn't be the case normally.
It wouldn't be that easy
Стыдно за Империю. Раз за разом опускают какие-то бандиты недоучки.
