    Very good video. I have had permed hair for several years now and due to a medical condition I am embarking on that natural hair journey now. It really scares me because I don’t know what my curl pattern is really going to look like. My hair is my crown

      Hey there Gorgeous! I know it can be scary, but with time, patience and ENCOURAGEMENT, especially from the youtube community, will help you with your transition. There are countless videos on my and others channel that will help you on this journey. When you do go natural (if you haven't big chopped yet) then you will be amazed at the beauty and versatility of your natural hair! I'm excited for you!

    Hey Karen! I love prepoos! They're the best! My hair tangles easily and prepooing makes it easy to comb before I shampoo. And..... On the 23rd of this month, it'll be the anniversary of my big chop!!! ☺️☺️☺️😊😊😊😀😀😀🎂🎂🎂🎉🎉🎉♥️♥️♥️

    Thank you, Karen! You are a natural hair hair-saver. First, you informed me that shampoo goes on your scalp, not hair, that was a game changer. New growth is flowing out of my scalp. I didn't have a scalp problem considering for years I've been cleaning my hair, not primarily my scalp. Minus the relaxer hairdresser years. The winter I get accelerated growth, it likes cold weather.
    Summer was super challenging before you. Moisturizing twice a day, another game changer. Always moist, the texture has changed, and massive growth during my dormant season. It was 108 today, and my hair stayed moist. I think it's the routine which I never cared about. It was sporadic hair care. I also went back to my childhood Apple cider vinegar rinses. Before all this, I was hating to do my hair. Never knew what to expect as a texture outcome. Needless to say, my hair stays in ponytails or braid styles. I switch without added hair. Another thing you were right about was switching up the styles and parts. THANK YOU, SIS! peace and blessings to you.😊 Some of us hear you and are following your advice🎉.

    When I do a hot-oil treatment, I mist my hair with water and apply warm oil (covering it with a plastic conditioning cap). I leave it on for quite a while but not overnight.
    Is a hot-oil treatment considerd "pre-'pooing"?

    • @KarenofCurlHouse
      @KarenofCurlHouse  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Technically it is because you pre poo is something you do before shampooing the hair. The type of oil will determine whether or not it penetrates the hair shaft… but a hot oil treatment strengthen the hair as well as it gives it an extra coat of lubrication

    I have high porosity, high density, ultra-fine, ultra-dry 4c coils. I pre-poo with African Pride Pre poo 30 minutes with a plastic cap or conditioner and 2 swimcaps:
    1. To pre-detangle
    2. To protect from cholrine and salt water when swimming
    3. To protect from harsh shampoos except when clarifying or applying Olaplex treatment or at the salon.
    Coconut oil makes my scalp itch and becomes sore unfortunately.
    If one doesn't have my similar hair type (re dryness, a lot of hair to detangle, harsh shampoos) or an active lifestyle, I don't think one needs to pre-poo.

      Hey there! I don't need oil on my scalp as my scalp is not dry. The pre poo is for the hair primarily as opposed to the scalp.

      Indian women oil their hair and scalp before washing it too

  • @joybanks4974
    @joybanks4974 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Is Hydral fatigue really an issue in the black community? I hear so many black women who only shampoo every two weeks or once a month. And the weave and wig wearers, go a couple of months or more without shampooing . Would you suggest someone pre-poo coming out of so-called protective styles?

    • @marleyhill34
      @marleyhill34 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You have to detangle throughly with oil, conditioner, grease or a leave in detangler before you wet any hair that has been braided up for more than 14 days. What you detangle with can be your pre-poo.

    • @KarenofCurlHouse
      @KarenofCurlHouse  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Many people stay in weaves, wig, or simply don't wash their hair frequently as a personal choice -- some are in protective or low manipulation styles to minimize breakage, but if you are in protective style I absolutely recommend you pre=poo and/or DETANGLE your hair properly before wetting it because it can cause the hair to matte and thereby break off.
