Great video. I had one of these, presented to me in 1978 as a Christmas present. Worked great for years, but the LED light stopped working, I opened it up and attempted a few times to resolder the connections which was quite difficult but I managed it in the end. A lovely little radio..

Hi, great video, I am just in the process of cleaning up my old radio, had it since 1990. Trying to replace the volume and tone variable resistors as they are really crackly, so imagine they are worn where they the track get used all the time. I am looking for a M50K D for vol, and a M10K for tone, and a new aerial. I am really enjoying the strip down.
I too had my led wire snap, they are so tiny and fragile, I managed to solder it together.
I do agree with the comments about the old service guys, I used to watch them in the 70's repairing TV's, wizards!!! It is great to see all the old components, the resistors look massive.

Hi George, I really miss those days when we actually could spot individual components and fix/replace or whatever! Today's components SMD and stuff are hectic to solder and work with. I couldn't agree more, sounds like you did a great job with your radio too! thanks for watching!

15:57 curiosity always seems to work, even if the devices we're working on don't always :) Great radio, hope you one day manage to reconnect that little led.

Hi Peter! I am so glad you liked it - To be honest, i screwed up in the past on the attempt to remove the knob string and the little spring that holds the string tight :- ) and i really admire some old service guys they can still do it - today, true analog sound and reception is more than ever appreciated because ICs in radios and digital reception is so diffrerent. Harmonics are gone and you need the exact frequency to get rather fuzzy signals :-) Thanks for dropping by my friend!

    Is it transistor radio?
