Whats different beetween black and silver
Of what?
I've had an rf-2400D sitting on my bedside table for over four years now (which is on almost permanently) and it has and continues to serve me extremely well. Brilliant sound, brilliant reception. My nights always end with the shipping forecast. Very peaceful.
Thanks for sharing! Sounds like a great addition to the bedroom setup!!!
How's the AM reception?
Bought one with a pal in work for outside jobs, was so impressed that I bought another for the house. "0 years later its still working well. Best radio ever for £20.
Very nice! Tanks for sharing!
You wrote: "0 years later and its still working.
Did you mean 10 years later?
Nice retro is still a thing 👌
Yes I love it!
on my 2nd one,not because stopped working but because i gave first one away and it had thousands of hours on it and outside of broken handle worked just fime, even in a basement with few windows, great reception
Thanks for sharing your experience!
I have a total of 5 myself 😉
I own a black Panasonic RF2400 since many years , still using it , it functions like new and I think it's one of the best FM/AM little radios . Big legible dial and powerful, clear sound . I only dislike the small tuning button , not very ergonomic .
Agree. Thanks for sharing!
The Sony does sound better though (tried both) by quite a margin. Panasonic’s latest DAB/FM/Bluetooth model (in Europe/UK) is better than all of them though.
@@interstat2222 I have both
@@interstat2222 Not true. The older RF-2400 is not the same as the newer RF-2400D !
@@etow8034 You misunderstood what I was saying.
Nice review.👍
Thank you
Good info 👍
I’m glad it was helpful
Great Video !!!😁
Glad you liked it!!
Bought one in San Luis obispi at Radio Shack.still works. Just needs batteries
जी हां इसकी आवाज बहुत मीठी है और ज्यादा कीमत का भी नहीं है एक बढ़िया रेडियो है
thanks, watch my recent comparison video with Sony radio.
Great review
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Ganda po ❤️
ok
Had lots of radios over the years and got one on the way. I always choose radios with analog tuning because here in the U.S. late at night I can tune in stations three to four states away on AM. Can't do that with digital tuning, it skips over what it thinks is a weak station.
Good to know thanks for sharing
The RF-2400D is not really analog tuning as it use a DSP (Digital Signal Processing) tuner. The older pre 2015 RF-2400 without the D still uses an analog tuner.
Good ŕadio no many free give❤😅
ok
Panasonic..!!!!
You like Panasonic?
@@ToolsElectroDIY Its not in same league as the legendary Panasonic RF-2200, but it is a reliable dual band radio for everyday use. I have seen this radio in offices, bus station ticket booths, security guard shacks etc...
@@etow8034 Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Do you happen to know if It is the same as the panasonic 2400EG9-K in black? I'm sold by the review but the name is different as well as the color even though it looks identical. Thank you.
Sorry I don't know.
The black version is mainly sold in Europe and Asia as the tuning frequency scale is a little different then the North American silver version. Both should still work in either regions.
Assume if using a power cord plugged into a strip and using the strip power on and off no wattage is consumed as the radio would be totally off?
Yes. Power strip with switch is a good idea
@@ToolsElectroDIY Will be using in a workshop. Light over bench, radio all one turn of the strip switch. Seems easier.
RF-2400D is better and less expensive than the Sony ICF-506, the only con I have about it is that the FM telescopic antenna is not able to swirl.😉
I love my ICF-506 too!
@jon All five of my RF-2400D are working fine after 2+ years ! Some of them are on 16 hours per day.
@@etow8034 Do you listen to multiple radios for 16 hours a day or something? Srs question
@@Llamabotomy Just one in several rooms so I don't have to lug one around, plus plain non adulterated radios are becoming harder and harder to find.
Can this be connected to an external speaker like bose ?
Yes. It has 3.5mm output.
Esse rádio deveria ser digital ele
ok
Will it work without a battery? Just with an adapter plugged to the socket..
Yes you can use the included AC cord to plugin to wall power. It's in the video, please watch again.
@@ToolsElectroDIY without battery?
How much price
As for the Power consumption it must be an ordinary transformer and because of Power Factor it won't be what you'll pay in your electricity bill but it will depend on where you live. I have a Sony ICF-F10 that is also great. I bought the Sony instead of this one. These radios are worth by their overall quality.
oh yeah
great reception but absolutely hated the speaker, no bass at all, just upper mid range and nothing else. Amazon also keeps shipping them in plastic bags which people have complained in the reviews for years but they still do it. Mine showed up with a scratched tuning window. With that said I believe it is quite good on AM and might give it to my father for that reason (after replacing with a non damaged one) since I only listen to FM and he only listens to AM.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Its a 4" speaker designed to conserve battery life as a emergency radio, it can operate more than the stated 56 hours, more like 85 hours if you listen to it at low to moderate volume levels. You can pay 5-7 times more money for a Tivoli Model 1 or a Sangean WR10 if you want a little more bass.
Try Dutch company Philips if available in your country. They usually have good sound for the size although the laws of physics come into play. These radios are not deep in depth so you can’t expect much bass. They’re really just meant for talk radio or something in the background.
@@interstat2222 Philips/Magnasonic is considered a low end brand here in North America now. I haven't seen any of their dual band radios, but mostly accessories like TV antennas and cheap CD/radio combos etc...
@@interstat2222 Grundig makes radios with warm sound like Philips . To have deep sound the radio should have a wooden case and a quality speaker with big magnet, many DAB radios are built like that.
I am looking for a radio with a rechargeable battery which can be charged as a mobile
It’s not rechargeable but you can use tech batteries
Same model that prisoners can buy in Australian jails😁
Good to know!
This model is used by transit ticket booth attendants here as well.
Can we use this without battry ???
yes, via AC power, I think I mentioned it in this video.
It will comment with blue tooth mobile?
no
This model radio tuning analog?
I think so
Thanks
No, The RF-2400D is a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) tuner radio. Panasonic calls it Auto Frequency Control (AFC) which is the same thing. The older Panasonic RF-2400 without the D is an analog tuner, but it performs worse than the RF-2400D in locking in AM/FM stations.
Have you tried in 220 V ?
No. I'm in the US.
@@ToolsElectroDIY
Wouldn't it burn it due to higher voltage?
@@IvansBikesBmws If it says 220V is compatible, then it's ok
@@ToolsElectroDIY thanks
Half a watt for what? Does it discharge the batteries with .5 watts when disconnected from AC? If not why does it do it when plugged in AC? If it does, then well done Panasonic, I need to take out the batteries as well and put them in every time I want to use it, because a week later they would be discharged... Good review tho. Not gonna be my product
The Power supply from the battery will get cut off, If the AC cord is inserted. please watch my most recent review on this. 2 Great AM/FM Radios Compared: Sony ICF-19 vs. Panasonic RF-2400D
th-cam.com/video/xrwq2npqCqw/w-d-xo.html just two different power supplies. The AC does not charge the battery neither. Smash the like and subscribe.
Fully charged rechargeable NiMH batteries will still be around 75-80% capacity after 6 months of non-use. I have one RF-2400D radio handy as an emergency radio with the NiMH battery loaded that I charge/top up every six months to make sure it fully charged.

Review the am in a better way
I barely use AM.
Not acceptable, the reviews are for followers AM must be important, since all radios have it,not professional answer,
Are you a subscriber of my channel? If so, i may consider doing a Sony vs. Panasonic radio review LOL
@@checo4236I agree with you…and for your reason and his answer, I am not subscribing.
Does it have rechargeable batteries
no
Is it good
Nowadays people are scared to buy Chinese things
They last months and you wasted yure money
The question is is Panasonic good
And where can one buy the radio
Buy you own rechargeable batteries and it will work. The thing with rechargeable batteries is that 4AA x1.2V will only give you 4.8V instead of 4AAx1.5V will give you 6.0V with regular alkaline batteries so the volume might not be as loud, but it still works !
Thanks
Hm
ok
Sorry Ted but you have to make a better video than this you did not go through the FM all the way from top to bottom of the frequencies you didn't go do the a.m. from top to bottom all the frequencies toddler gives a better interview on that radio you didn't do that radio any justice you just want to get on TH-cam just to just because you wanted to I mean you didn't plan nothing you didn't take notes you didn't prepare yourself pull the video down and start over and go real slow with your people out here that are watching you really sad man 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
You are absolutely correct. Sometimes I upload videos just to test/satisfy TH-cam algorithm. I'm not a full-time TH-camr. I'm just posting things I'm interested in. Sometimes I make higher quality videos, if I have time. For example, Soundcore Life Q30 vs Bose QC35 In-depth review (Part 1)
th-cam.com/video/QZK8wH4f74o/w-d-xo.html
Just curios, how did you subscribe to my channel? From which video?
Todderbert probarly has the best review of this radio on TH-cam.
Sounds definitely horrible just all retro stuff.
Should be 15$ considering you are going back 4 decades or current state of Mexico.
It's decent. I don't think its horrible.
The same Radio I have in my bathroom .same thing..
It's not retro it was only introduced in 2017 with a digital tuner !
Actually the Panasonic RF-2400D is one the best dual band and dual power radios you can buy today, very good AM/FM reception and very good audio quality is all you can ask for !
