Came here looking for how to install the battery and the first 30 seconds took care of that, came away with much more than I expected and I watched end to end. Quality video, thank you. The device just arrived, time to go play.
I have the M6 Pro as a firstnet hotspot ban 14 it uses, and my download and upload speeds are 80-120 and up is 8-20 mbps. However, my ping is 78. And there is a tower 4 miles away between trees and gaps and more trees. I did drive over to the tower and ran speed test, and it was no better. Do you think a cell booster or an antenna is the solution to get better ping? And though it says 5 and 6 g and supposedly the latest firmware, it stays in 4g lte. I was thinking about this antenna, in case you have any thoughts. X-Polarised, High Gain, Uni-Directional LTE Antenna; LTE 2X2 (MIMO) Thanks for the video also!!!
It's interesting that I have had to return 3 of mine because of a bug that stopped the internal antenna from working in both the M5 and M6. I recently got my 1st notification of a firmware update and it seems to have fixed the issue. That update was in July 23
A little late here, sorry….but…. You would not believe what a lot of us out here in the great wilds of rural USA (or anyone living anywhere where cable/fiber internet is not available) would do for those speeds you called “garbage”. I’m sure a 100Mb/s connection must feel like the slowest thing next to dial-up. Yeah, I’m older than dial-up. But it is literally 10x faster than what I currently pay almost $80 a month for. And I run 5 computers, 2 ROKU TVs, 2 big screen TVs with Rokus attached, 2 xBoxes, 3 tablets and 4 smart phones on WiFi all on this little old 10Mb/s connection. We get a little lag every now and then. But it’s not like all of these are running at the same time. Usually just 3 TVs, 1 or 2 PCs, and a couple of the tablets. So, that slow 100Mb/s is something I’d love to have!
Lol, I'm also older than dial-up. I remember those days someone would call your house and the Internet would disconnect. But yeah compared to fiber internet, this thing is slow. I was trying to emphasize that this thing is much more capable assuming the signal is there. I wonder if they have starlink in your area, I heard great things about it.
@@landpet I may check into it. I’ve seen a couple other SIM modem/routers that might work to. Right now, it’s wireless (4G/5G) or it’s watch everything on my phone. These companies that broadcast wireless internet charge an arm and leg for a tenth of the speed I’d get if I lived in town. Thanks for the video and the info.
It depends, the mobile router is capable of more range, more devices can connect to it and can potentially have faster speeds as some companies cap hotspot data speeds. It really just depends on you, for the occasional user that uses it once in a while and doesn't need fast speeds, the phones hotspot is fine, for people who want the best possible connection with more range, more devices, etc then this would be more ideal
Great video i have on question that's been driving me crazy because i cannot find this. At 2:06 of your video you are showing 4.28 GB Used 1 Day Left. I have found this in settings Data Usage but my question how do you get that to display on main screen where you swipe up to get settings. Please help me find how to display this as i find it useful instead of drilling down to date Usage screen. Thanks so much.
This video is missing the browser sign in. By default, the Username is Admin and you can't change it to your hotspot Username. At 4:45, it just goes straight to being already signed in.
Good video…long but it needed to be. Other videos didn’t answer my questions. So I gather plugging the hotspot in the computer is faster with Ethernet than usb-c…right? BTW…getting mine delivered “renewed” from Amazon for just under 200. Golf sim studio being setup and WiFi won’t reach from the house and Starlink is god awful expensive.
Let's hope Netgear does a update on it because it has full potential not being used. While no significant upgrade, I do think bonding will have to takeover to support, and additionall antennas.
Appreciate this thorough review...was very helpful. Just an update on speeds in "city area" with 5G. Just ran one on ATT and am getting 400Mbps down and 15 Mbps up consistently. Same speeds over Ethernet or 5/6 Ghz WiFi.
I do not recommend buying one for gaming. This thing sucks even with the Ethernet. Had it for bout a week and I’m returning it tomorrow. I’d rather use my old one.
@@johnnyrodriguez276 there’s no way everybody recommend this for gaming. But to answer your question. T-Mobile home internet is the best way to go. Only $60 a month for 100 gb plus you can hook an Ethernet up that works. I’m actually using it right now playing war zone.
I have M1 and not upgrading till now because of all these expensive mobile router series are lacking 1 important feature, "IP reserved", which is to assign internal static IPs to devices' MAC addresses connected to the router. There is "Port Forwarding" feature in the router, but without reserving static IP the port forwarding will not work at all. I am happy with the M1 network speed and stability in latency, but without port forwarding it is difficult for me.
This is just a separate data plan. If you have Hotspot on your mobile phone, then this is pointless unless you have multiple devices you want to connect. Some hotshots also limit data speeds, this one goes as fast as the service in that area permits.
I currently use an older netgear mobile hotspot for internet in my home (local internet provider only offers 3mbps). If I were to get the m6 pro and connect it to a mesh network- would it be plug and play or would I need to tweak with settings in order for it to operate?

I have a lenovo p11 pro certified 6e and was not negotiate with this 6500. I end up bought another unit from Amazon test it and same results.i end up returning both. I bought so I can connect to 6e network.
I have the M6 Pro on AT&T and run my home on it in a rural area. Is there a mesh system that will work with this. If so, which one do you recommend for 5500 sqft. Thanks
I haven't tried doing that, seems like something that would be worthwhile. I can't provide you with a concrete answer, but I would think most mesh systems would work with it. I'm thinking if you can run the mesh wifi in access point mode and connect to this, it should emit the same signal. Again, that's just a guess. I have several videos lined up otherwise, I would also be interested myself to try out my theory.
Hey John, I have been looking into replacing my internet provider due to the price and been looking into buying this. How many devices can you run with your setup?
It’s best to remove the battery if you’re planning on leaving it plugged in for a while. Batteries tend to have shorter lifespans when they’re constantly at 100%.
Depends on your internet. If you don't have internet and want to get it from a cell signal, then this would probably be the best router to work with the cell tower subscription. If you have regular internet like a cable modem, ONT or DSL. Then I would suggest different routers like the Netgear RAXE500 or a mesh system if you live in a larger home.
I’m a professional photographer that uploads a lot of hi resolution photos to my publications and I need a fast upload speed at least a minimum of 30 mbps. Will this unit do the job?
It can do the job but it depends heavily on the cell signal you are getting. The device can upload even faster but again it depends on the carriers signal at the spot
Connecting the ethernet port of this to a computer will allow for an internet connection assuming you have a valid sim card (active connection with a compatible carrier such as AT&T which would require a subscription obviously)
Does anybody who has this know if you can respond to the messages? I need to be able to buy data by responding “yes” vice having to GUI’ing in on the MR1100 to agree to buying data.
What internet connection gives you that 940 mbs speed? Fibre home broadband, right? So it's obvious that you're not going to get 1 gig 5G internet speed from your sim mobile internet. So what are you trying to prove here? That your home broadband is faster? Surely, it's not a surprise 😏
They sent it free for review. Were you allowed to keep it? If so, your opinion is untrustworthy. You should have stated that you returned it. You can't expect me to believe “your word” when you get a THOUSAND DOLLAR product for FREE. Come on man. Do you honestly think people are that stupid?
You are entitled to your opinion, not sure what I said in this video that was inaccurate but I just test the unit, demo the speeds and show the features. Either way, I appreciate you taking the time to write feedback.
