There is one error in this video where Andy said it doesn't support T-Mobile mmWave - it does support T-Mobile mmWave, but does not support one of the mmWave frequencies that T-Mobile uses - n258.
I got my NH M6 6550 delivered today and tested and I was getting 645 Mbps at home without an antenna. It was so fast amazing and will eat you data super fast. Also, I used T-mobile.
@@WingManDK Jio offered free 4g services for almost 2yrs in 2016, currently offering 5g+ ranging from 150mbps to 2gbps..we get fiber broadband 100mbps plan between 8-10 dollars a month
Would it be possible (maybe "recommended" would be a better word) to use the M6 Pro as a small "event wifi" device? For example, if I wanted to provide wifi to a group of 15 strangers in a park, would this device meet that need? Or would it be too cumbersome?
While it can support up to 32 connections and might work in some situations, mobile hotspots really aren't designed for that use case.. it's more for personal household use.
My M6Pro routinely gets 350-400 down and up to 10 down on AT&t network. The signal is 1-3 bars at any given time. I’m interested in trying an external antenna to see if speed would increase.
Quick question -- Do you have any insight into the USB-C "tethering" speed of the modem? -- Netgear describes two methods of hard-wiring the modem to a computer: (1) "tethering" via USB-C, and (2) using the 2.5GBase-T network adapter. On page 43 of the user manual, Netgear explains how to theoretically achieve the top speed of the 2.5GBase-T network adapter (no battery in "performance mode") but the speed(s) available by the "tethering" via USB-C is unclear. Thanks for you time.
From our linked article with more details: "USB tethering is supported via the USB-C port, and Netgear claims peak speeds of up to 5 Gbps, assuming, again, the device you're tethering to and the USB on that device can support those speeds."
There are too many things that impact cellular data performance that would make that not a useful piece of information. www.rvmobileinternet.com/performance. It's better to understand modem technology and what the capabilities are.
Thanks for the great video. I still need to ask, in terms of specs, are there any differences between M6 Pro MR6500 and M6 Pro MR6550, other than (Locked-Unlocked)? Thanks again in advance!
The unlocked has frequency support for all carriers, the AT&T version is only optimized for AT&T frequency bands. Look at the chart displayed for the differences.
Can the M6 Pro or M6 Pro 5G be SAFELY left plugged in? The issue is continued connectivity when away from the boat for alarm system connectivity and alerts.
I would built a custom fan for it , to keep the temp stable . When the fan is running the portable battery isn’t connected but the fan is blow air to keep it cool . My work perfectly all the time .
While the modem is capable of those speeds, it would be exceedingly rare to find speeds in excess of the routers throughput outside of laboratory conditions.
I just purchased a Motorola Razor 2024 Plus and purchased a mobile data package that gives me 50GB of hotspot for $45 a month plus I can talk and text with the Motorola Razor Plus. Small compact and works great with 5G.
I am thrilled that someone finally put MiMo ports on a new generation Hotspot, and unlocked to boot! Hoping there’s a discounted price point in the future. I currently have a Verizon LTE hotspot. Will the SIM card from that work for this, or do I need to get a new one? How about the ATT tablet SIM card from my M-1 iPad? Thanks!
Great information. It's absolutely not worth the 1k price tag. Don't know any digital nomads, like me, who want something that needs to be plugged into electricity. Defeats the purpose, in my opinion.
Possibly - you'd need to check to see if the cellular bands it supports will work in the countries you're interested in. Netgear also has other regional versions for Europe and the Middle East as well as Australia.
Great video! From a networking perspective this is bleeding edge.... The Wi-Fi 6e would probably never be used especially since it is either/or. By the time typical devices all talk 6E for compatibility this will be ancient. I am not sure 2.5 GB ethernet makes sense in a portable device... Clarification - did you say this is missing a key band for T-Mobile?
$1000 is ridiculous. How can they call this a This pro version without VPN support? My main use case is travel. When I’m at a hotel, I wanna hook my hotspot to the hotel Internet and all my device have Internet access with VPN without me doing a thing. I currently use a GL Mundi for $150 since 2020. Netgear once again major fail.

@@pondsy7543 It has been very consistent. Works better if you get the 5G antenna from Netgear.

I've had it for a year and I had a firmware update and it's charging very slow. 😢
thank you for the very balance info and commentary.

In some situations, an antenna can be very helpful. You can read more about signal enhancing here: www.mobileinternetinfo.com/cellsignal
Hi, Can we manually setup the device to 5G SA(Standalone) only? Thank you!
Has band 14 and it has antenna ports. Yes!
The AT&T version for 1/2 price does too.

Presently, correct - there are no plans with rollover data. Here's our current top pick data plans: www.rvmobileinternet.com/planpicks

So, it says Max 5G Speed 8Gbps, Max wifi speed 3.6Gbps. This does not make sense at all. How can one take advantage of the 8gbps speed?

Your Verizon hotspot plan should work.. but your iPad plan wouldn't, as it's not authorized for hotspots.
