- In todays video I finally replaced the headliner in my 1997 ford f150! Overall not that difficult just time consuming especially running into the issues that I did!

I’ve never liked this body style of F150, that being bc it use to think it looks like a catfish and it simply being a ford. But after watching your videos, and seeing the lifts and exhaust you’ve done to Larry I will admit this body style has grown on me.
They’re pretty reliable but everything else around them is absolute junk.
@@AQS521 I’ve heard every part of them are junk. Those old triton motors aren’t nothing to be excited about. But it seems as if Chase has his hands on a good one.
@@kev_lsn7042 well I say that because my brother has a 2000 with about 350,000 miles on it. Really has needed basic maintenance but had a trans rebuild at about 200,000. Everything besides that though is trash. The interior is literally falling apart, column shifter is loose and cracked at the end, odometer goes off out of nowhere, back doors don’t open, etc.
@@AQS521 all depends on how something is treated to be honest. You can do mechanical maintenance, but if you snatch on stuff like the shifter and suicide door handles them shits will break loose. My dad has a 2000 Silverado 2500 ext. cab, and 6.0L. It has been a bad ass truck, But his truck has been put through the ringer of people just snatching on the door handles, tail gate, pushing on the bed. Causing shit to snap and dents forming.

Good to know you also had problems with 3m adhesive. I redid one in a dakota, was supposed to be a budget job but the fabric fell literally overnight. So I had to scrap it and try again, thought maybe the fabric got contaminated. Same thing. Scrapped it again, read you had to spray the fabric AND the base so I did that too. Seemed to work, reinstalled in the truck. Fell after 2 days. The only constant was that I was using the 3m fabric adhesive that everyone on the forums said to use. So I bought fabric 4 times, like 8 bottles of spray which are expensive as shit and the headliner still fell. Finally got really pissed and cut open several bottles of silicone caulk and literally painted it on and it finally held lmao. $20 job ended up costing me like $275 and looked like shit. Thought I was doing something wrong, but I'm glad to see others have issues with 3m which I honestly didn't think about since 3m is like THE brand for adhesives and vinyl

I did this exact same material for mine like 2 years ago, 3m super 77 and it’s worked well, I’m kinda sad seeing someone else with it but it’s also cool because you’re one of my favorite TH-camrs. Mines a 96

Dropped my F150 off at AAMCO today, hopefully nothings majorly wrong with my transmission. But the ole 10-speed is slipping time to time going into 3rd or 4th gear. Hopefully it’s nothing major, bc if it is I might have to get rid of it so it doesn’t become a money pit.

Looks good. Tell us how much darker it is inside the cab during the day and night.
A DA and some 180 grit works really well and gets it off without hurting the board to bad

My personal opinion black always looks good
I'm about to do the same with a van headliner,,,bigger and the curves and pockets are deeper then those and I'm having an issue of how to smooth it in crevices of a curve without it creating creases... Would heat make it more stretchy and easier to smooth over like I'd do with foil..? Im rambling here idk what to do and I don't want to do it wrong...any advice?

Seats from an Expedition from 97 to 11 will bolt up. Combine that with a console from a supercrew and you can have a very nice interior.
Hows the gorilla glue holding up i only used that on my pillars because it says it not ment for headliners

Looks pretty good. Good luck finding a Lariat parts truck that still has a good interior. I've tried to find one with the leather bucket seats that are still good, but most parts trucks from this generation out there seem to be base model or XLT. The Lariat parts trucks that are out there tend to have torn up seats as well. You'd probably be better off just having the existing seats re-upholstered.
Just a suggestion Katzkin could I'm sure color match the front seats with the rear. Since you would be doing just the front it probably wouldn't be crazy expensive and Larry could keep his original seats. Most trucks of that vintage are going to be pretty ragged out at least on the driver's side anyway.

I have a 1997 lariat too thats mostly why I subscribed mine isn't doing the best I need to replace rotors and brake pads right now. But I am reaching out to see if you could help me. I have this idea and I'd love to chat with you about it when you get the chance.

I’m doing suede on mine
I had an 03 F150 ext. cab with a front bench seat. I installed the bucket seats and center console from an Expedition. Everything bolted up perfect. Only custom work I had to do was wire in the power seat. Here's a video showing what it looked like: th-cam.com/video/HGxzRVOPy1c/w-d-xo.html
The headliner looks great. Maybe you should look into doing katzkin seats to continue the custom look.
