I feel like if they release a mad thinker at this upcoming pulse con, this will sell like crazy. I won’t be getting it but I’m very excited for everyone else to enjoy this masterpiece.
I’ve never cared for Dragon Man (probably because I’ve never seen him in anything), but I have to admit, this figure of him looks really cool. ^^ Oh, and for any other figures like this, I would love to see a Man-Spider. I’ve always loved that design from the 90’s Spider-Man show and it would be great to see a huge figure of it with all of the articulation. ^^
I priced it at a $100 and with standard shipping its under that so you are right a lot of 3rd party figures cost that or more so i give it to hasbro for giving a fair price and not paying in advance is the real selling part for me so i think hasbro got this one right . Its a better way to sell big obscure characters than a crowdfund . I call it like i see it they did good with this one .
I'm already rioting! LOL! Yeah, we need an Android and a Mad Thinker. We have so few FF and Thor villains. I wish they'd do a couple of classic villains waves.
Something to remember when comparing prices with other companies - those companies have higher costs because Hasbro is a much larger company and can buy plastic, for example, in bulk at much lower costs than small companies. Hasbro also has far greater market reach and exposure. So they should be able to offer figures at a better price than smaller competitors. For example, if I opened up Vintage Bob's Hamburger Shop, I could never afford to offer burgers at a price equal to or lower than McDonald's. They'd always win the price war and be able to sell burgers for far less than I could and still stay in business. So it's not a fair comparison.
Hasbro Pulse made it free shipping on orders over a certain amount, maybe 75 USD, for people in the U.S.A. and even Canada! So the whole of the "contiguous" North America gets free shipping at a certain total, which was a very smart move on their part and encourages a lot more purchases. Their shipping cost is somehow quite low also even if one doesn't reach the price, but Dragon Man is automatically free shipping for anyone in North America.
I'm just here watching the cartoons and stuff behind you on the green screen! 😂😂 This figure is very cool! I already have a lot of stuff on pre-order, so pass for me. Im glad for those who get him! Btw, Dave, you got some nice ink 👍
Hi Dave, first time I encountered Dragon Man was in a trade of a Captain America trade paperback of War and Remembrance. Dragonman at the time was a mindless creature and was being manipulated by Machinesmith. It showcased Dragonman as being almost unstoppable so posing him fighting Captain America on a rooftop diorama would be awesome. Thinking of that trade Captain America also fought Batroc, Mr Hyde (who we have already had in Legends form) and a character I would love to see in figure form is Baron Blood. If you haven't heard of him you could probably guess that he is a vampire character, who became a vampire when he encountered Dracula. I can't remember how, but he is also related to the original Union Jack from WW II. C'mon Hasbro you gave us an obscure vampire with Bloodstorm, give us Baron Blood!
Wow, you discovered Dragon Ma towards the time when I stopped collecting current comics. And what a way to be introduced! Great story and great art! I remember Dragon Man from early FF stories, but that's why I'm "vintage". LOL! And yes, I'd also love to see a Baron Blood figure, and Union Jack and obscure villains from the Invaders like Scarlet Scarab and Master Man! And of course, the Liberty Legion!
@@Vintage-Bob Hasbro has done some obscure characters so don't give up hope. I had been collecting comics from late 70s (pocket money permitting lol). I bought any Marvel comic in local newsagent which were the UK reprints. They would occasionally have the odd American comics. My dad had ordered the Spiderman Weekly comic for my brother and I. But then the UK serialisation of Secret Wars came out in the mid 80s and I was hooked. I went to college and one of my friends introduced me to the specialist comic shops in Glasgow 30 miles away. I pre-ordered many titles in the 90 and early 2000s due to the many crossover stories. I think the earliest figure I got was Thanos and Lady Death, or Moon Knight from the Modok wave. I have stopped buying comics in the early 2010s around the time they started replacing characters with gender and race swapped versions that were terrible.
Food for thought - let's look at the Figura Obscura Anubis & Bastet figure set by Four Horsemen. It was $188 (at least one one website not sure of other places since it's sold out). You get two 7" figures with absolutely amazing and flawless sculpts and detailing. Anubis comes with 2 pairs of feet, 5 sets of hands, an ankh, a staff, 3 heads, canopic jars, a head scarf, two Egyptian symbol pieces, and...I forget the name of it, but it looks like the Ark of the Covenant with an Anubis jackal sitting atop it. Bastet comes with 4 heads, 6 sets of hands, 2 sets of feet, a faux malachite 4" cat statue, a basked, a few canopic jars, and a few Egyptian symbols or weapons. The box itself is a piece of art (with magnetic seals) and has inserts of amazingly high quality art that can be used as backgrounds. The detailing on these figures is insane! And yet Crystal and Lockjaw are $70? Phoenix is $50 and all she comes with is six cents worth of flame effect an an extra pair of hands? No way. No way if we compare the Four Horsemen Egyptian gods set to Lockjaw or Dragon Man or Phoenix can we say the Hasbro price is worth it. I mean, that's a comparison that puts things into perspective. Anyone lucky enough to have these Four Horsemen figures in hand knows what I'm talking about. These aren't toys. They're articulated museum pieces with works of art for the packaging. So no way can I justify the prices Hasbro has been churning out lately. I wonder how much Kang will be? Probably $75 or more.
While the Lockjaw and Crystal price is insane the conspiracy theorist in me thinks that this is on purpose. I think Hasbro knows they're gonna have a hard time pushing them either way so they want as much money upfront as they can get before the price drops by 50% in 5 months. Non one should be pre-ordering those figures. Call it a patience tax for those who do.
I'm 100% certain of what's going on. While Odin is overpriced at $65 and Crystal/Lockjaw is also way overpriced (a minimally articulated Lockjaw is not worth $45), they're gone completely insane with Phoenix. A $25 with an added $0.06 worth of plastic and they're charging $50? Insane. Dragon Man is also not worth $85. That price is way too high. I can see possibly $60, but I think most action figures these days are just way too pricey. And why is this happening? That's where my 100% certainty comes in. What did Hasbro NOT do this year? A Haslab. No Haslab means a lot less income. The Giantman Haslab earned them $2.4 MILLION. Galactus brought in a whopping $14 MILLION. I forget the numbers on Sentinel - I think that one pulled in $12 MILLION. When the Engine of Failure flopped, we saw price increases, didn't we? And now with no Haslab this year, that's millions of dollars that Hasbro will NOT be earning. So the devious idiots running the company decided to sell us things like a $25 Phoenix and then slap on a $25 "fee" for the extra six cents worth of plastic. I wonder how expensive Kang and his chair is going to be?
As long as I have been collecting BAFs, I wonder if we could get more frequent character-specific accessories and have maybe 1 BAF a year with more large figures coming through Hasbro Pulse instead. I know the BAF encourages people to buy entire waves, though...

@@constantineholmes Oh wait...it looks like I wasn't charged shipping either and I don't have Premium. Is it because there's free shipping over a certain dollar amount? It does show $5.31 in tax. I'm still trying to find out whether I need Pulse Premium to pre-order Kang. If they give Premium members access early, then it's gonna sell out before the rest of us can get it.
I think it varies depending on your region
$85?! I just paid €102.99 for it from Hasbro Pulse.
But this has to do with the UE taxes+shipping, which is really annoying, but it's what it is
@@sommelierdevideosruins That's with free shipping even.
