    I’m not a big marvel legends fan. I cherry picked some for my mafex display and that’s it. But marvel legends, specifically that toybiz stuff, holds a special place in my heart (will never give away my face off cap and hulk). This series is really refreshing and I can’t wait to see how far you take it

    I has that Iron Man. The faceplate didnt hold very well, the Stark thing didnt stick in the base well and i could never understand why armour was muscular. That said, I wish I still had it

    Kudos for mentioning the early McFarlane figures. Sure they weren't more than articulated statues but they looked sooo good that they changed the collecting game forever - and for the better!
    I like to say action figure collecting can be defined as pre-McFarlane when all figures were just kids toys and post-McFarlane when they started to be actual collectibles that grown ups could like to have without feeling too bad about it 😂
    Say what you will about the current McFarlane figures - and we know you do 😂 - but the old ones were definitely a game changer. And I still love them today. 😊

      Why would Hasbro ever need to stop making Marvel Legends action figures? There are so many different costumes and alternative versions of the underlying Marvel characters, they have only scratched the top layer of the surface with the more popular characters (except for Elementals, not many people seem to like those movie characters). Hasbro could still be making these things for our grandchildren...

  • @Williestyle-RobotechxMacross-x

    Last time I was this early to a video by David, (original) Mego Toy figures were the only game in town for Marvel figures (yeah, I left out "action" in the post about action figures, because Mego didn't have much back in the 1970's. lul)
    Modern Marvel "Legends" from Toy Biz till today are such great 1/12 action figures - wish I could actually afford the nicer Iron Man figures, but y'all love him as much as I do and make those things disappear from the primary marketplace.

  • @ZeppelinA7X
    @ZeppelinA7X 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The Toad figure was made to go with a separate line of statue-escue X-men figures to tie in with the movie. They were gonna be highly detailed comic versions of every main character in the 2000 film.
    The line was canceled during the early stages of production, and the only figure to be made was Toad.
    Toybiz was eager to release Wave 1 of Legends, but they wanted a 4th character, and a Thor figure wasn't ready for release.
    But you know who was ready? Ya boi, Mortimer Toynbee, so Toybiz SLAPPED him into the Wave despite him being so out of place.
    And the rest is action figure history.

      @@DisplayingModelBehaviour yeah, but there really was nothing better than the feeling of turning the corner on the toy isle, catching that rack of freshly stacked pegs, and finding that gem!
      Also kinda feel like the scalping game wasn't as keyed in back then, and if you were hunting, the odds were usually in your favor.
