SKF are the original FRIP supplier to PSA, their joints never come with torx bolts. Top quality joints (and bearings though) . Bolts are approx £30.00 from uk dealers-each size but only come in packs of 10, otherwise the dealer is stuck with stock it can’t shift. You want 1, you gotta have 10 ! TRW brand come with bolts-pre thread locked and a new stainless steel sealing ring for bottom of hub. If the FRIP joint comes off and the inner race comes with it, in my experience it’s starting to become worn which means replacement hub. The hub went through a re-design- yours is the later version with better FRIP joint seal protection. I have a pair of spare hubs. They get blasted, painted and set up with new wheel bearing, FRIP (and wheel hub if needed) ready to swop over as I drive 30,000 miles per year I need to swop the assembly every 2 years. Our pug 407sw xs170’s are great but the FRIP is silly designed but probably the best that could be done given the rest of the front set up. Live all French cars, you have to see the system in question (steering) as just that, a system and overhall the FULL system. The inner track rod on you car is shot as the track rod flopped down when released. System overhaul. … oh best lube the seal with rubber grease. Non injurious to and petrochemical base seal… good video, though, cheers…signed-a Peugeot nut…

Yep, like you, I ended up going for TRW as SKF don't come with bolts. Annoying. You can buy aftermarket hubs for around £50 ea. SKF are going down in my estimation, wheel bearing was slightly too large (purchased direct from SKF), whereas PSA genuine (SNR) fit perfectly. Bought my pug on 100k and only replaced FRIP joints at 210k... but only because wheel bearings went.

We call them frip joints over here.
But I've never known one to be sold without bolts, citroen are adamant they are one use bolts and must be replaced every time.
I've just done mine and they both came with bolts..
You were very lucky fir the inner bearing race to tap out with it, they usually stay on the carrier and require either grinding a slit and knocking off, or using a bearing separator.
    Nice video, very clear!

    Been there, done the replacement.
    - buy some thread locker (strong). Few drops and you are safe and doing under procedure.
    - next time i would replace both upper joint and lower bearing. They are sold in pairs for a reason.
    - there are replacements including bolts, but you just got unlucky with that one.
    - normally those 3 bolts are with thread locker and very hard to unscrew.
    - inner part of bearing normally stays on, and you have to use removal tool or cut it with angle grinder (be careful not to damage axle).
Thanks for your video, it will help some lots of Peugeot 508/Citroen c5 users

Thanks for your comment :) regarding the upper joint, I have not seen any sets of those two, only that control arm bushing and this bearing was in one replacement kit in pair. Nevertheless, I have not replaced any upper joint yet int six year, bus those lower bearings are not lasting, this one on the video is giving up (year and a half after the replacement, video is a bit late).

Upper ball joint is screwed into aluminium. It corrodes together making it near impossible to replace. Only replace if faulty, otherwise leave well alone!

    Good video, thanks.
The three bolts should be ordered separately from Citroen, they are not included with the bearing.
The two identical bolts are P/N 3648.13
The single bolt is P/N 3648.12

I think you must have some of the ed china penetrating oil spray as every time I have to undo a driveshaft nut i've broken tools and ended up drilling/splitting the nut with a punch

How long does it take to replace both?

6:45 That bolt is almost stripped due to over tightening!
Single use bolts that should be included with the 'Frogleg' especially as it's an OEM part.

Hi, Have you had problem with the dash board blinking? Radio and every light occasionally turn on and off. Usually when it rains outside. If yes, please make a video for this, thank you!
