Yes, you are going to get older people with more experience commenting when you say something ridiculous, while your "experience" is obviously very limited.
The 5.8, or 351W is in no way, junk. They were best bang for the cubes, extremely reliable and added the needed extra torque. They were infinitely customizable and have a huge aftermarket because of how successful they were. Not to mention they were used for over three decades for a good reason.
Also, throttle bodies were often plumbed into the coolant system to keep them at a steady temperature, especially in warm climates.

No joke. I have been driving a 1997 F250 HD 5.8 extended cab the exact same color as this one in the video and it has 227k on it today. When I bought it at 205k it had a few minor issues only because the previous owner was too lazy to address them but it did not take much to get it driving as a daily driver and it has never left me stranded. It's also good on fuel mileage. I think somewhere between 14 to 17 MPG on the highway. The 5.8 is not very quick and it doesn't put out as much torque as a 460 or the 7.3 but it's reliable, cheap to maintain, and like I said get good fuel economy. If power and torque is such a big deal to someone, all I can say is it is very easy to get any aftermarket upgrades to accomplish that.

I absolutely adore these '92-'96/'97 F series trucks, but the factory gas engine choices were pretty sad.
The 5.0 and 5.8 were lethargic turds, the 7.3 was meh at best, you'd think the 4.9 was a friggen beast given it's laughable fuel mileage.
the Diesel engine choices were alright, until some dumbass blew the heads off them with a tuner box.
I'm not even going to start on how I feel about the E4OD automatic transmission.

I just found your channel from the $500 plow beater, tree fall victim f150. You're thrown shade at my extra 49ci?!?😂 I commented on that video what the ones that I've owned or wrenched on. I've never had any major engine trouble from 302s or 351s. Only f150s tho.

From my experience the early 5.8L motors were far better, the 92-96 trucks with the 351 cut a lot of corners. I heard the engine was too tall so they shortened the intake and it had really weird 90 degree runners and things like that and caused horrible airflow, I’ve also heard of them overheating all the time and cracking heads and pistons. The F-250s and larger trucks with the 351 were usually the culprits of all the issues since the engines didn’t produce much power, and people would overload the hell out of them with towing and hauling etc. They are good motors when built right, but from the factory they could’ve definitely been improved.

    302s are a pile compared to a 351w.
