I've been waiting since HL: EP2 for Valve to count to three. Years of releases: Left Four Dead TWO, Portal TWO, DoTA TWO... Still no three in sight

The most infuriating thing about the XP overload icon is that now you have to remake your longest possible killfeed line video.

That icon is so useless. They should just show it in the menu so that you know. Why should anybody care about if you get more or less exp. Literally the most useless kind of icon that was ever in the game.
@@HandsomeMadMax Well it's not entirely useless. You're now able to send someone off to touch some much needed grass with more certainty they lack as such.

i used it in 2015/2016 all the time, my mic used to always disconnect randomly. I got used to hearing all of my own comms lmao

It's so bizzare as a tf2 player hearing about Counter-strike woes. They sound so familiar but it seems like you have it so much better.

I for one would _gladly_ trade a scale back in content for a complete remake. TF2 suffers from way more bloat anyway. It feels like it became a sort of dumping ground for new game ideas that couldn't get enough momentum to develop and release as standalone games, plus Valve's habit of adding every single community map that was ever popular.
Sadly we now have conclusive confirmation that Valve isn't going to do that, because they now have a public beta of a 64-bit port. They've never done that with any other game, and obviously wouldn't be doing it now if there was a complete engine port in development (CSGO never got so much as a DXVK update like their other Source 1 games got).
i fucking lost it when the aug chameleon came in with the music its a marvellous masterpiece
now that valve is fixing the smoke, they need to add the physical light from a flashbang, meaning throw a flash in a room, have it emit light so that i can splash on the walls including through the doorway that you just threw it from. i feel like that would add so much immersion and cool factor to the game.
I personally love arms race and think that it is a genuinely great game mode for newer players. I remember playing it a lot to try out different guns, to warm up and also just because it's fun.

it's good for cooling off when other game modes get frustrating too, it really doesn't feel like anything that happens in Arms Race matters

I think the lines in the smoke are the invisible voxel elements that define the smoke effect propagation, so instead of calculating shadows based on the particles we see, it does it (in some cases) only for the voxels, leaving obvious lines everywhere

Great video! I absolutely love how they made the new baggage map! Being able to start the conveyor belts are such a nice addition! It reminds me of features you would normally find in community servers. One thing I hope they have in the pipeline are achievements :D

@@Furious321 We said the same about the CT & T skins. Sure, they fixed most of it, but still we had some problems because of it. I think that, logically, it's inevitable that grenades, C4 and others get skins, but C4 skins are further away than grenades. One way to, maybe, work around that would be to have client side C4 skins, meaning that you see your C4 skin and I see mine. On the other hand, that would 'frustrate' some players that would think "whats the point of having a sick or p2w C4 skin if my foe does not see it?"

The Kilowatt case showing off source 2 handling new material shaders was such a great idea I dont understand why it didnt come with launch
because this update was designed to hold them over for new developments until 2025 all this update says to me is valve only cares about the market aspect of cs2 and the anticheat will never be fixed ,whats the point in owning skins in a game where cheaters are given more new features than the actual legit players

I've been very critical of CS2 since I got access to play it (basically on release as I'd stopped playing as much csgo towards the end of its life). However, I know from a software dev perspective that making releases for every minor update has an overhead - so it was becoming very clear there was a major milestone release coming any time. Looking forward to trying these new changes, especially being able to turn off the damn first person tracers which I absolutely cannot stand.
What you are saying in the final ramblings of the video is exactly how I feel at the moment with cs2's release and the port to source 2.

I'm actually so excited by the attention valve is properly giving to its lesser known casual gamemodes, as they were my absolute favorite! Arms race is so fun, especially with the added verticality (and functioning conveyors!) on Baggage. Now, if only they'd add Monastery...
Loved ur words at the end, Ill happily wait a month so they can fix bugs and get us our old modes back or one or two maps of arms race and the upcoming modes its gonna be a great time if they keep it up like this^^

Hey! They've finally added back arms race! That was always the only game mode I really ever played in CS:GO, and I was upset it wasn't present at launch in CS2. Only thing I'm upset about is that based on this video it appears they still have it somwhat team-based instead of full FFA for some reason.
The new Baggage looks great as well. I wish devs (and players) of multiplayer games would remember how fun dynamic elements in maps are. The laser focus we have on competitive play has, I feel, made us forget what made these games fun in the first place.
The zeus was rechargeable in Op Hydra too, with its own fun gamemode.
Apperantly on the new shoots map there's an in-game clipboard with the layout of Ancient on it, when the update came out I found that in one of the houses to the side of the spawns. Also there was a bug fix in the vent on nuke that fixed something, but now that it's "fixed" you can't fastladder down the vent without getting stuck on the bottom.

I'm glad there's confirmation that they are adding these gamemodes. Still waiting for Flying Scoutsman. That one was really fun. And I hope Safehouse and Lake will be added as well. Those were my favorite maps.
The peeker's advantage and spraying were definitely the biggest issues with CS2 before, so as of right now I don't really have anything else to complain about. Thank you, Valve.👍

I really missed arms race from when CS2 launched.

I started playing when CS2 was out for a couple of months. This update feels like a good thing :)
There are a few minor issues. But overall its nice to see them working. Good update 9/10.
What is interesting is that Valve could have chosen to leave a whole bunch of CS:GO stuff in as a stopgap while they try to update everything. I believe them choosing not to was deliberate and one they didn’t consider lightly. Those two paths likely had an extensive lists of pros and cons.
Ultimately, we’ll see if this was the right move as time passes.
It'll be very interesting to see what they end up doing with Danger Zone, now that the size limits have been thrown wide open. Personally, as much as I was just grateful to have a battle royale game that I could actually run on my potato of a PC when it first came out, I grew to appreciate the smaller, denser scale of it. Both because it kept it from turning into a game of "who can find a sniper and the best attachments for it first", and because it made everything feel more intentionally designed rather than the result of dropping a bunch of random prefab buildings onto a block of terrain.
But then they got rid of singles mode and added _Sonic the Hedgehog_ bounce pads and shit in a desperate bid to salvage it when its popularity tanked, and it became a joke. I honestly wonder what the numbers were like by the end, and if Valve has any real incentive to bring it back at all, let alone revive it in a form that remotely resembles the original experience.
If the game keeps this track I see it being incredible in a year or so. At that point it would've been worth it IMO.

I don't like how Shoots had it's old setting changed to be yet another ancient temple-themed map, plus Luggage looks too much like Nuke IMO.
They might've chose to reuse existing CS2 map themes to save time since they wouldn't need to make any new assets. I agree with you though that it's too bad that they didn't just update and preserve the original style.

I had 100% in CS:GO, felt a little pang of pain when it was all removed but it was necessary to get the best CS possible as soon as possible.

Woah! Shoots is a completely different style. Surprisingly was still able to identify it from my…apparently 60 hours in CS:GO, all spent with bots, mostly on Shoots playing Arms Race.
Also, really am glad Baggage got a lot more movement. But also, yeah, those head height blockers do seem annoying for casual. As I did enjoy standing atop the luggage on one side and sniping bots at the other who took a bit too long too move…probably would be more fun with real players.
the new update tanked my fps. down to 5 fps. i disabled my microphone and it went to 50-60 fps. unplayable. i dont know whats wrong or what to do please help if you know the solution. had 150-200 fps before the update. it has something to do with the voip but im not good enough with computers to figure it out. please help!
Absolutely agree with your takes at the end of the video. As a TF2 player the incessant whining from the CS community has been, while somewhat understandable, embarrassing and stupid for the most part
I think this is huge for the stickers. Didn’t think they would do such a big step, more stickers will be needed for all those endless crafts
Arms Race is a very cool game mode, definitely one of my favorites since its CS1.6 and CS Source days. Good to see it back.

Cool, I've been waiting for more games modes, so seeing Arms Race back is nice. Only two maps for it, but it's a start. I will forever miss the casual community servers though, like how I always saw one that was 24/7 Office that was fun to mess around in. Seems like the only community servers around in CS2 are ones by websites, mostly sweaty competitive servers, and random surf/retake servers.

I just wanted to say that never in my life since valve introduced cases and skins have I bought anything. But my first ever buy was 3kliksphilip's music pack and I couldn't be happier. It was in my playlist and now I have it in the game. 💚
CS:GO also had rechargeable Zeus, it could be enabled with "mp_taser_recharge_time".

The new conveyor belt controls remind me of the interactive elements in some of the maps they added in last fall's _Half-Life_ update. I wonder if some of the same people were involved.
